A check off the Bucket List

I've never actually sat down and made a Bucket List before but I can imagine that I would of included "ride a camel" somewhere on it.  I would imagine that this camel ride would take place on a vacation of course, maybe to the Middle East, maybe in a desert and would have been one of those things that is a once in a lifetime.  I definitely wouldn't have thought that I would check riding a camel off that non-existent list on a Sunday afternoon at a cider mill in the Chicago suburbs.  But of course, that is exactly what happened!

My friends and I headed out to South Barrington, a suburb about 45 minutes northwest of Chicago, to a cider mill/pumpkin patch/market called Goebberts.  If you live in the area, I highly recommend making the trip as the whole place screams fall.  They have thousands of pumpkins, attractions like a corn maze, haunted house (oh and camel ride...), a bakery and market serving and selling apples, apple cider, donuts, jams, jellies, pies.. anything you can think of.  The place is massive and you can easily spend a few hours there.

After arriving, we decided to buy tickets for a couple of the attractions.  There were over 12 to choose from and we picked the haunted house and the wagon ride.  First up was the haunted house and it was definitely directed towards children.  We cruised through it in about 2 minutes!

We couldn't resist the smell of the bakery so we each got a freshly baked donut and apple cider.  YUM.  This is the whole reason I come to cider mills.  The donuts were delicious!

The best part of this picture is the bottom right hand corner..

We decided to head over to the wagon ride next.. but of course stopping to take a few pictures.

 A beautiful fall day!

I promise we aren't really this awkward... we just find it funny to take awkward photos

We got to the wagon ride and it wasn't quite what we were expecting.  It looked pretty dirty and there were lots of little children on it.. basically we just weren't feeling it.  So this is where our bright idea came in to use our wagon ride ticket on the camel ride.  We head over to the line and of course are the only adults there without a small child.  We couldn't stop laughing at this point and I'm sure the people around us thought we were idiots!  Each camel held two people so Erica and Nicole went together and Kim and I went together.

The ride only consisted of walking in a circle but we were cracking up the entire time.  Afterwards, we proceeded to blow up Instagram with pictures of our new camel BFFs.  It was such a funny experience and even though it wasn't quite how I pictured a camel ride, I'm glad we did it!  We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping in the market and stocking up on pumpkins to decorate our apartments.  It was a perfect fall Sunday!
