Five on Friday 10/18

I can't believe how fast the weeks have been flying by lately!  It's hard to believe we are already nearing the end of October.  Speaking of the end of October, I have this little problem that happens to me every year.. I always start thinking about Halloween costumes the end of September, then I forget about them and October comes and goes, and suddenly it's Halloween and I'm throwing on a football or hockey jersey and calling it a costume.  Every. single. year.  Anyone have any simple ideas for a not so creative girl?

Anyways!  Linking up with both Lauren Elizabeth and A. Liz Adventures for their Five on Friday.

1) New hair dryer- my 8 year old hair dryer finally bit the dust this past weekend.  It wasn't really heating up that well anymore and I noticed that it was making my scalp really dry (actually I'm not sure if that last problem was caused by my dryer but I used it as a definite reason to need a new one).  My old dryer was just a cheap one from Target but I decided to splurge on a higher-end one this time around.  Typically when I blow dry my hair, it's a disaster.  I use all the "right" hair products but after drying my hair, it is a poofy, frizzy mess that can only be tamed by my straightner.  NOT ANYMORE!  I decided to purchase the T3 Featherweight Journey and it is amaaaazing.  It's actually a travel dryer but I love this for a few reasons..  it is incredibly light (like it weighs 1 pound), I can actually bring it with when I travel (duh), and it was about $75 cheaper than the regular T3 dryers!  Win win win.

2) Ann Arbor bound- I am so looking forward to this weekend!  We are heading to Michigan tonight and then waking up bright and early Saturday morning to make the drive to Ann Arbor to tailgate and attend the University of Michigan football game!  They play Indiana so hopefully they can pull off a win.  But honestly, I'm just as excited about the fact that I made taco dip and pumpkin spice puppy chow for this event! Should be a great day of family, food and football :)

3) Cider Glazed Sweet Potatoes- A couple of weeks ago, my friends and I visited the cider mill and stocked up on donuts, apples, cider, etc.  I had a bunch of cider to use and I decided to try and make cider glazed sweet potatoes.  We are now obsessed with it.  I've made it three times in two weeks.  If you like sweet potatoes, you will LOVE this recipe!  I'll be posting it on the blog next week!

4) Wedding Thank You's- I am so happy to report that our wedding thank you's are ALL written and in the mail :)  It was one of my last to-do items on my wedding checklist so I'm feeling a bit sad that it is all officially over.  That being said, I am so happy with how everything went and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

Nicks awkward hand cracks me up

5)  Angry Orchard- My new favorite beer/hard cider/whatever it is!  It is so good, I could drink this stuff all day long!  I've only tried the apple crisp version but we saw an Angry Orchard variety pack at the grocery store this week that we may have to pick up for tailgating :)

Have a GREAT weekend! Come back on Monday for the easiest Chicken Pot Pie recipe ever!

    1. You won't regret getting the hair dryer! Totally worth the money and best part of Sephora is that if you don't think it is, you can always return it :) Stop back for the chicken pot pie on Monday and sweet potatoes on Thursday! Happy weekend!

  8. Okay, kindred souls about the Halloween costume dilemma! That is just too funny -- happens to me every year too! (I'm sort of like that about presents too)

  9. So I found you through my bestie Mia. After reading your little About Me section, I'm pretty sure we'd be great friends in real life. :) I did grow up in Ohio, though, and am a Buckeye fan, but hopefully we can get past that. :) Um, those sweet potatoes sound awesome! I made roasted sweet potatoes with dinner tonight that were delish. I'm looking forward to following your blog. Have a great weekend!

  11. What a beautiful picture and great idea to do for Thank You cards! Justin and I will be tying the knot next fall so I've been getting some wonderful ideas from you. I'm not a fan of sweet potatoes but your cider glazed sweet potatoes look and sound amazing so I'm going to have to try it.

When I dry my hair I have the same issue. It's turns into a big frizzy mess and knots up really bad. I've noticed that if I use the plastic thing you stick on the end so that the air comes out in a straight line (sorry I don't know what it's called) my hair doesn't get as frizzy. The next time I buy a hairdryer I'm going to get a really light one like yours. That way I won't have 1 bulging bicep. Haha

    1. The diffuser!! Yes, it makes a huge difference in the amount of frizziness. I lost my diffuser for my old dryer a loooong time ago but now that I'm using one with my new dryer, I can really see the difference it makes. And, a light hair dryer is really where it's at! It's a much more enjoyable process when I don't feel like I'm working one arm out!
