Five on Friday 11/8

Friday is here again!  Can you believe it's already November 8th?  I have a feeling November is going to fly by!  There was lots of goodness happening around here this week so I'm linking up with Lauren Elizabeth and A. Liz Adventures to share!

1) Pumpkin Pasta- Oh yeah, I went there.  I came across a recipe for pumpkin sausage pasta and it intrigued me since I've been on a pumpkin kick.  I was a little unsure while making it, I really had no idea what it was going to taste like, but it was SO. GOOD.  I'm going to post the recipe on Monday so make sure to come back for it!

Now that it gets dark at 4:45 pm (ugh), I have to rely on my kitchen's terrible lighting for photos!  I promise it looks much more appetizing in person!

2) Earthquake- So on Monday at 12:35 pm, I was just sitting at my desk in my office when all of a sudden the room/building/world began to sway back and forth.  I felt dizzy and I just knew it had been an earthquake.  While earthquakes are strange in Chicago, they aren't unheard of.  I quickly ran into the living room and turned on the TV.  The news reported two different stories: first, that it had been an earthquake and later, that it had been a blast from the quarry 20 miles away from my apartment.  There has been no straight answer on what happened so I'm thinking a quarry blast may have caused the earthquake and some sort of cover-up is going on here.. it's all very strange.  Check out this article from NBC Chicago.

3) Starbucks- Red cups are back!!! This just makes me happy!  The holidays are almost here!

4) Fall- I love this time of year when the leaves are so colorful and are barely clinging on to the trees.  I took this shot outside my doctors office in the Northern suburbs this week.  Such a beautiful world we live in!

5) Engaged- One of my favorite friends is engaged!  Alex and I went to college together and she was one of my first friends in the dorms.  I'm so excited happy for her and her fiance, Mark! She is going to be the most beautiful bride!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  3. I posted about how gorgeous fall has been this week too! So pretty! And I'm with you on loving the red cups at starbucks, such a happy time :)

When we had the earthquake in DC a few summers back now it was honestly the scariest thing ever! Even though west coast people who have had "real" earthquakes made fun of us, it was scary when it's something you're not used to and the ground starts shaking!

    have a good weekend!

  17. Oh, I'm anxious to see your recipe on Monday. I made a sausage pumpkin recipe recently that was really good! Ok, earthquakes completely freak me out. We had some really big ones a couple years ago, which is unusual for Oklahoma, and they shook me up (literally and figuratively. Ok, I'm a nerd...I'm cracking myself up!) Congratulations to your friend!

  18. Starbucks red cups make things a little better in the world. I noticed this year they also have a design on the iced cups also. I love anything pumpkin, so I may have to give the pasta a try. Have a good weekend!
