Five on Friday 12/27

I seriously can't believe it's Friday again.  I feel like I was just writing last Fridays post!  We just got back yesterday afternoon from 5 days in Michigan and I feel like I'm still playing catch up.  Thankfully, we have a relaxing weekend ahead of us.  But for now, it's the last Friday of 2013 so I plan on making it a good one!

1) I am so excited to announce the beginning of a new link up starting Thursday, January 2nd! I'm joining with 3 of my favorite blogger friends - Carly at Sunday's Grace, Mia at Make Me Up Mia and Kristal at The Strong Family - to bring you Thankful Thursdays. One of my goals for 2014 is to really focus more on the wonderful things in my life. Everything from the big stuff like my husband and our home to the daily little things like getting something on an awesome sale or my favorite movie happening to be on TV that night.  I plan on sharing a picture from each day of 2014 of something that I am grateful for.

See my introductory Thankful Thursday posts here and here and come join us this Thursday for our first link up!

2) I know we've all gained a few extra pounds these last couple of weeks but before you get all healthy on January 1st, make this chocolate pie.  It's the perfect dessert to bring to a NYE party or to just shovel in your face while watching TV.  All I'm going to say, is you'll never regret a bite you take of this pie, it's that good (and easy to make).

3) I'm obsessed with my new watch Nick got me for Christmas!  I know I'm like 3 years behind on this Michael Kors watch trend but better late than never!

4) It's hard to believe 2013 has come and gone.  For my organizational self, a new year means a new planner!  I typically just get a $10-15 planner from Target which works fine but have been hearing so much about Erin Condren life planners that now I'm wondering if I should spend the money?!  I'd like to order one this weekend so if anyone has any pro's/con's/recommendations, I would love to hear them!

So many cute options!

5) I've professed my love for Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel many times and yesterday I hit the ultimate jackpot.  B&BW is having their semi-annual sale and VBN was 75% off making the lotions only $3.15/piece - you better bet I dug out every bottle I could find!  The prices are higher online so if you have the time to stop into a store, do it!

Happy Friday!

  1. Love love love your watch…I'm on the hunt for a new MK watch - have the gold one and have worn it for 4 years!!! As for the planner - I love the EC planners, but they are a little pricey, I prefer paper source or papyrus ones!! Happy Friday!

  2. I just ordered a planner and it's the first time I'll be using a physical one. I've always used my iphone calendar but with the new update I can't stand how it works now! Plus I'm super excited about carrying the planner around!

  5. Cannot say enough good things about my EC planner, at first I thought I was a little crazy for spending so much on a planner, but I'm now on my 3rd one and seriously couldn't imagine life without it!!! Best money I ever spent!

  10. Hey Katie. I did ann EC calendar last year and I loved it. So silly but I loves the stickers you could get from your own Instagram account. If you use it, it is definitely worth the money. This year I wanted to try another planner I heard great things about, Whitney English. So we'll see how that goes.

  13. Erin Condren planners are amazing, but the only drawback for me is how bulky they can get! I bought a Kate Spade one instead, and LOVE it.

  16. So funny that you mentioned those planners because I was watching a youtube video today and the girl kept mentioning them but I couldn't quite catch what she was saying & it was definitely the erin condren planners! I LOVE that watch! I've been looking for a silver one-- it seems that most are gold or rose gold, but that one is so nice & classic!

  17. I absolutely love my Erin Condren calendar and have had one for the last several years. I use both a paper and online(gmail) so my bf can see my schedule. I need to have the paper format because it is easier to see my work schedule(I'm a nurse and I've screwed up before relying solely on the online format). It is worth the money; I've saved mine because I've written details about events we've gone to and such.
