Oreo Brownies

I love brownies - out of the box.  Homemade brownies sound intimidating plus we love the boxed version so why mess with a good thing?  Until I found this recipe for Oreo Brownies on Crazy for Crust.  It looked unbelievably easy (for homemade) and I mean, there are oreos in it.. that should be reason enough for you to try this recipe.

Shopping List
2 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
2 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate
3/4 cup butter
1 3/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp vanilla extract
Oreos

Directions
1) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

2) Grease and line an 8 x 8 baking dish with parchment paper.

3) In a microwave safe bowl, combine your two baking chocolates and butter and microwave for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until chocolate is mixed smooth.
*Mine took 2 minutes.

4) Stir in sugar.

5) At this point, I had to move my chocolate sugar mixture into a bigger bowl.  Then mix in eggs, cocoa powder and vanilla extract.  Stir well until blended.

6) Slowly stir in flour until completely mixed.

7) Pour 1/2 of batter in the greased/lined baking dish.

8) Create a layer of oreos. I used 15 oreos.

9) Pour remaining batter on top of oreos and spread evenly.

10) Place in preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick is clean from center.

Isn't that super easy for homemade?!  To make this more Christmas-y, you could use the special holiday peppermint Oreo's out right now to make peppermint Oreo brownies!  You could swap in any flavor Oreo or leave them out altogether - the options are endless with this recipe! Enjoy!

  6. These look SO GOOD. Sadly my husband doesn't like oreos so I would probably end up eating the entire pan... maybe I'll make them for Christmas though so others can also indulge!
