January Bucket List

Happy, happy New Year!  I hope you all had a wonderful New Years Eve with friends and family!

The last two months, I've made a bucket list of things I want to do that month and it has been so fun!  It has helped me actually remember to do some of this stuff I've been talking about forever.  I want to continue this tradition in 2014 (that is going to take some getting used to) and I hope you will join me!

See Novembers list here and Decembers list here.

1) Ice Skating at Millenium Park- This one is left over from December that I just didn't have time to get to.  It was a crazy busy month and I started to think it might be better to do this on a weeknight in January so there are less crowds.

2) Go skiing-  It has been YEARS since I've been skiing but 2014 is going to change that!  I'm not even sure I can ski anymore but Nick and I are headed to Wisconsin for a skiing weekend!  Just pray that I don't break anything!

3) Saving money- Ally at Life As I Know It posted this on her blog yesterday and it really resonated with me.  We already save money but this weekly addition will be an easy way to save a few more bucks!  This is something I hope to do for all of 2014.

4) See a movie at the movie theater- I didn't see a single movie at the theaters in 2013!  That's pretty crazy.  There are so many good movies out right now (Saving Mr. Banks, Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle, Lone Survivor) that it's the perfect month for this.  Plus, it is so dang cold in Chicago in January that any indoor activity is welcomed!

I'm a sucker for anything Disney & Tom Hanks

5) Chicago Restaurant Week- Restaurant Week begins January 24th and there are so many amazing restaurants participating.  I've never done restaurant week but there are 286 restaurants with pre-fixed menus this year and I want to finally take advantage of it!

What are you hoping to do in January?

  1. These are great items to check off!!! I haven't been skiing in years either - and i'll be crossing my fingers for you!! My hubby and I are doing the 52 week challenge as well (in addition to other saving lol) and I can't believe you managed to stay out of the theaters for all of 2013!! I like to go at least once every couple months…just to remember I can see things other than on my couch lol!! Happy 2014!

  6. I can't believe you didn't see a single movie in the theaters! I only saw two or three and thought that was bad, haha The older I get the more I like to stay in and watch movies at home it seems. I've heard such good things about Saving Mr. Banks and Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies so I really do want to see that one as well! Ice skating downtown is one of our winter traditions that we didn't make happen in December this year either, so I'm hoping we can go in the next couple of weeks! Happy New Year!

  7. The 52 week challenge seems so easy you know?! I'm dying to see Saving Mr. Banks too. Wolf of Wall Street was good but beware it's long and pretty raunchy! We have restaurant week coming up in January too! My favorite part of January for sure! Happy new year to you!

  12. You didn't see a movie at the theater the entire year??? Is it weird that I'm so shocked by that?? Maybe it's because my husband and I do that all the time for our weekly date nights. We both love going to the movies, so we do that so much! AND, I've never skiied in my life. I'm wayyy too chicken, because I know that I'll break a bone somehow.

  14. I need to make a list like this! I've been dying to go skiing. I have NEVER been even though we live around tons of mountains to ski at. I was thinking it would make for a nice Valentine's date;)
