Wedding 7.27.2013 - Part 3

Catch up on Part 1 here and Part 2 here!

When we left off, the big moment was finally here!  10 months of planning and it was time to walk down the aisle.  I had been so nervous about tripping, sobbing or God forbid both, but when the time came, I was actually pretty calm!  I felt my cry face coming on about half way down the aisle but somehow pulled it together and managed to be smiling in every picture!  Major win!

We get to the end of the aisle and the first thing our Pastor does is call me the wrong name.  I'm not even joking here.  And this is the guy that has known me since practically birth and has been with my family through every up and down and he calls me the wrong name!  In a way, it was almost a good thing because it made Nick laugh and he really needed to be loosened up :)  My friend Alex then did a beautiful reading and the ceremony proceeded on without another hitch!

It was about 30 minutes long but felt 30 seconds to me.  It went so fast and is kind of like a blur in my memory!  Next thing I knew, our Pastor was announcing us as husband and wife and we were on the way back down the aisle!

With the ceremony behind us, we did our receiving line, signed our marriage certificate and took the traditional front of church pictures.

The reception didn't start until 6 pm, giving our guests about an hour to check into their hotel if needed or enjoy drinks inside Boatwerks.  As for the wedding party, we jumped on our trolley and headed off to the beach.  All year, I'd dreamed of taking wedding pictures at Holland State Park and I wasn't going to let cloudy, 55 degree weather stop us.  Haha or so I thought!

We arrived to the beach and it was SO windy.  Our fake eyelashes were literally flapping in the wind and some of the girls even lost flowers out of their bouquets.  We still managed to get a few good pictures but then we hightailed it out of there.  Not exactly what I had been picturing but I still love them!

We decided to improvise since we couldn't spend much time at the beach and head to downtown Holland to get some better shots out of the wind!

At this point, it was getting close to 6:00, the time the reception began, so we decided to make our way to the restaurant.  The restaurant is on the water and there is a large park right next to it, so we wanted to make sure we got pictures there.  The party couldn't start without some champs though!  And don't mind our faces - we can be overly dramatic :)

And just like that, it was reception time!  We headed over to Boatwerks and began to line up for our grand entrances.  It started to sprinkle while we were waiting and I was silently freaking out.  The reception was covered by the tent and the sides had been put up, but the rain would put a serious damper on everything.  Either way, it was time to party!

Next Wednesday, reception details and the party of my life!

  3. Awesome pictures. I had a pre-Pinterest wedding (wear that badge proud), but seeing your pictures made me want to go back in time and get remarried. Or maybe just have a big party again!

  17. These pictures are so gorgeous. Seriously, looks like they came right out of the knot magazine! I know I mentioned it before, but your dress?, *sigh* beautiful. I tried one on with ruffles but it was so HEAVY and since we were getting married OUTSIDE in the SUMMER I decided against it.
