A Niche Weekend

This is going to be short and sweet (and most likely full of typo's) because this weekend WORE. ME. OUT.  I thought I was exhausted after last weekend... haha, oh how naive I was.  Having visitors almost 3 back to back weekends in a row has officially gotten the best of me.

Friday
Nick's best friend, Dane, and his girlfriend, Tiffany, came to visit us!  They live in Michigan so are only able to make it out about once a year and since we're moving in the fall, this was most likely their last visit to us.  They arrived a little before 10 pm and we made nachos, cracked some drinks and played games... until 3 in the morning.  We were just having a blast catching up and trying to outdo each other playing Scattegories.  Time flies when you're having fun!

Saturday
We slept in a bit, had breakfast at the apartment, got ready and headed up to Wrigleyville for the Chicago Cubs game.  We're Detroit Tigers fans since we're from Michigan but when in Chicago, the Cubs will do :)  We met up with our friends Tim and Erica for the game - which actually turned out to be a good one!  The Cubs won 3-0!  It was a little chilly, especially since we were under the overhead and not in the sun but thank goodness the rain that was originally forecasted held off.

 Great seats!

After the game, our main focus was getting some (more) drinks.  We walked over to Moe's and grabbed a table right by the open windows to do some people watching.  A Bloody Mary was on the agenda for me.

5:30 pm rolled around and we decided to head back to the apartment to freshen up before dinner.  And maaaaybe play a quick round or two of Catch Phrase.  We had dinner reservations at Little Goat - one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago.  If you ever visit, it's a must do!  It was our second time there and I had the fried chicken (again).  It did not disappoint!  We pretty much had to be rolled out of the restaurant, we were SO full.

Little Goat has a rooftop patio so that was our next stop but unfortunately, it was closed for a private party.  I'm sure we'll be back soon though!  We headed back to the apartment and were going to get ready to go out... until we just decided it would be a better idea to change into sweats and play games all night.  Best. Decision. Ever.  We stayed up until almost 2 am again - Catch Phrase, Apples to Apples and Scattegories probably could of kept us up ALL night!

Sunday
Sunday was such a beautiful day.  70 degrees and sunny - we had to take advantage of it!  We headed up to the Lincoln Park Zoo to say hi to the animals.  It's one of my favorite things to do in Chicago and the Zoo is free which makes it even better!

For a late lunch/dinner, we went to Greek Islands - probably Nick and I's favorite restaurant in the city.  The amount of times we've been there is absurd considering the plethora of amazing restaurants we have surrounding us.  But I guess when you find one you love, you stick with it!  We all had their famous homemade gyro's - so, so, so good.  Just thinking about it has my mouth watering again.  A little before 4 pm, Dane and Tiff hit the road back to Michigan.  It was such a great visit and we are so glad they could come out!

The weekend didn't end there for Nick and I though.  We decided to get in a quick nap before playing tennis with our friends, Dave and Kerry.  A nap (which was more like a food coma) probably wasn't the best idea because I woke up feeling like death!  I even told Nick to bring his cell phone out to the courts because we may need to call an ambulance for me haha.  We're lucky enough to have tennis courts in the park right near our apartment so once Dave and Kerry arrived, the 4 of us headed out to play some doubles.  Turns out the fresh air was exactly what I needed and made me feel a million times better - no ambulances needed!

The rest of the night was spent cleaning up, making dinner, showering, watching Mad Men and getting ready for another week.  Hard to believe next weekend is already Memorial Day!  Hope you all had a great one, too!
