Thankful Thursday: Week 20

It's time for another edition of Thankful Thursday!  I feel like I've been riding a high all week from the beautiful weather we had over the weekend.  It was picture perfect - 75, sunny, slight breeze, zero humidity, not a cloud in the sky.  It's amazing what an impact a couple of days of sunshine can have on your attitude and outlook!  I hope you'll link up with my three co-hosts {Mia at Make Me Up MiaCarly at Carly Blogs HereKristal at The Strong Family} and let us know what you were thankful for this week!

Thursday, May 8

See what I mean about warm?!  Finally!  This was taken in the suburbs where I work so it didn't get quite as warm in the city but still.  After getting down to -20 degree temperatures over the winter, we deserve this.  We survived!!!

Friday, May 9

These stupid sandals have been torturing me.  I fell in love with them about a month ago at Marshall's but they didn't have my size.  NBD I thought, I'll find them online.  After a million and one Google searches, turns out these dv by Dolce Vita Figg sandals are NO where to be found.  I can't even find a mention of the fact that they exist.  I've been to 3 other Marshall's stores within the last 3 weeks and have checked back every week hoping they'll restock in my size but no luck.  I finally gave up and bought them even though they're too big for me.  I usually wear a 6.5, sometimes a 7 but these are a 7.5 - I'm going to make them work!

Saturday, May 10

Our food crawl was the.best.day.ever.  Such a fun weekend with family!

Sunday, May 11

Marry a man that can cook a decent meal.  Nick is no chef (he did ruin two of our pans this week attempting to make calzones... that's another story) but he really tries, especially on Sunday night's which have become his dinner night.  It's nice to have one night where dinner doesn't even need to cross my mind!

Monday, May 12

It's always nice to get out and do something on Monday night's!  Even though Monday's are my day off, they are still a total buzz kill.  The weekend is over, Nick is back to work and I have to do all my chores - grocery shopping, laundry, cleaning.  At the end of the day, it's definitely still better than going to work but that doesn't mean I don't have the Monday blues!  Trivia night with my girls was a good time and we actually got 4th place!

Tuesday, May 13

Have you guys ever baked an angel food cake?  I made one on Sunday and I had no idea they were so different baking-wise than a regular cake!  From using loaf pans to cooling the pan upside down, the whole process was very strange.  Thankfully it turned out perfectly and we've been enjoying it with whip cream and fresh strawberries all week!  One of the best warm weather desserts in my opinion.

Wednesday, May 14

Happy happy Birthday to the best dad in the world!  Thank you for everything you have done for me!  Hope you have the best day!!!

  4. Love the picture of you and your dad. Have you tried the band aid protection stuff for your shoes? if they are rubbing your wrong or just giving you blisters, you basically put this on and let it dry before you wear them and you don't get them. living in the city, I carry it with. But they are some cutttte sandals! xo

  10. I looove angel food cake- I think it's a tie for my favorite dessert, right behind apple pie! Growing up I always requested strawberry shortcake for my birthdays! Isn't the nice weather amazing?? You are too funny about those sandals! A little too big is definitely better than being too small & they are SO cute!

  11. How sweet that Nick takes over dinner once a week! Maybe I'll suggest that idea to Ryan ... Also, you need to share the recipe you used for the angel food cake. That is one of my favorite summer desserts, and I'd love to know how to make my own. As always, looks like you've had a great week!

It's been warm here consistenly the past to weeks, but today is a torrential downpour complete with tornado warnings. So fun. And love the sandals! And Happy Birthday to your dad! And basically I'm just loving this post. xo to you!

  16. I love that Nick cooks for you. If Mr. Redneck did not cook for me I would be anorexic as we all know I can't and don't cook. And your sandals remind me of me-- I have gone up or down if it was the last pair!

Now that my husband will be starting a new job that will get him home by 5:30, I'm definitely making him cook more meals so I can have some nights off. Your husband's dinner looks delicious!
