Good Days

Life has been a bit stressful over here lately, I won't lie.  We're in the midst of house hunting and it turns out house hunting is kind of hard when you're almost 3 hours away from where you'll be moving.  Nick and I have completely different work schedules - him the typical 9-5 and mine being more nights/weekends - plus add in the busyness that comes along with summer and we're finding it pretty challenging to get back to Michigan.

We find houses online that disappear before we can even coordinate a time to get back there and we can forget about seeing a house twice.  We made that mistake with the awesome house with a pool - saw it on a Saturday, spent a couple days thinking it over and then Nick finally had a chance to head back that Thursday to take one more look at it and submit an offer.  Welp, they sold it Wednesday night.  Lesson learned that we need to move fast(er).

Goodbye beautiful pool :(

Yesterday was a bit of a grumpy day for me when THREE houses we've had our eye on and wanted to see sold.  And we still don't have a chance to make it back to Michigan until Monday so who knows how many more will go before then.  I was moping around and just feeling bad about the house situation when I noticed that Lisa was co-hosting a linkup today focusing on what makes for a "good day."  It made me realize I needed an attitude adjustment because life really isn't that bad.  I know and trust that God has a master plan and that all of these houses that are slipping out from underneath us are just blessings in disguise.  I shouldn't let my worries bring me down and cause me to have a bad day because the perfect house is out there waiting for us and we will find it when the time is right!

So here's to trusting in Him and here's to what makes for a good day :)

It's a good day when...

Dessert follows dinner.
Anything chocolate will do.

Pretty Little Liars is on.
Total guilty pleasure show.

There is time in my day to squeeze in a nap.
Never happens anymore.. but that just makes it extra special when it does.

I get my hair blown out and nails done.
Can I hire someone to take care of this everyday?

A Backstreet Boys song comes on the radio.
Backstreets back, alright.

I have a fruity cocktail in hand.
Fruitier the better.  Extra points for a little umbrella.

There is zero traffic on my drive to/from work.
Very, very rare but when it does... bliss.

I get to lay out and soak up some Vitamin D.
I know it's bad for you, I really do, but I love me some tanning.

Fresh flowers are on my coffee table.
I'll even happily let them block my view of the TV.

Breakfast is for dinner
Preferably made by my husband, the breakfast king.

Forrest Gump is on TV.
A movie I can never say no to.

These are the little things that can make for a good great day!  Thanks for hosting, Lisa and thanks for the attitude adjustment! ;)

  1. Oh girl it's always ok to get a little down - you can't be 100% in a good mood all the time!!! But the important thing is that you realized it...and then readjusted! I'm with you Fresh Flowers, easy commutes and my nails get done!!

  4. The perfect house will pop up! I understand how frustrating it is to have houses sold before you can even get there.

Yay for good moods. My dad always told me growing up that you can't be angry/upset/annoyed when you're smiling. So, smile away!

  6. Oh, girl. House hunting is SO not fun. People can glamorize it all they want, it's tough. But don't worry, you'll find the perfect one in the end. It'll all be worth it. LOVE your list. I'm addicted to PLL but I'm SO behind on episodes right now...I need an afternoon to get caught up. Or an afternoon to nap, either one! Forrest Gump is my husband's favorite movie, so that always puts him in a good mood. This link up is so fun!

  8. I'm sorry that it has been a stressful time for you. Manicures are the one thing that make me feel better no matter what. I learned that from Legally Blonde the first movie haha. God just has something better in store for you. You will find the right house and it will be beautiful. :-)

  12. That's so frustrating! I can't believe how fast real estate moves there. I definitely believe that what's meant to be will be. Your perfect house is out there just waiting for the right time!

  13. Your list of happy things really made me smile - just what I needed this morning! I'm so sorry that you've been stressed and discouraged lately with the house hunting. Just know that the houses that are being sold probably weren't meant to be in the first place ... the right one will come along at the right time, and you'll snatch it up I'm sure!

  14. I can't imagine the added pressure of trying to find a house when you're not right around the corner to go see one, as soon as it pops up! It's easy to be disappointed, but you definitely have the right outlook and know that the right house will come along, just at the perfect time :) And I love your list of things to be happy about!

  15. Do you ever fake tan? I have twice in my life, last year before we went to Mexico and this year I was starting to but now I know why I don't want to ever again - because apparently I'm allergic to it. So I'm going to have to just go sit by the pool before we leave this year as I'm trying to prep my skin for that sun. Cheers to the pool!

  16. Keep your head up girl, you know the perfect house will appear at the perfect time :) All of your picks sound like an absolutely perfect day to me too!

  17. Thinking of you! I know this has to be tough -- all I was doing was apartment shopping, and that's hard enough! I can't imagine the house hunting. The perfect house will be there soon! And your happy list is just perfect -- we all need those reminders to be thankful for what we have, and I'm with you on needing that reminder! xo

  18. Sorry to hear that the house hunting has been stressful. UGH! That is the worst! The Austin market is booming right now, and I've heard a lot of people are struggling in the same way. My co worker just announced that they purchased their first house in Austin though, which is great! There's hope =) Good luck girlie!!!!

  19. When my step daughter & her husband moved, she went ahead earlier to find a house - it was hard doing it from a distance. So I feel for you. It'll work out! God is just planning that perfect house for the 2 of you to come along!!!

  20. Sorry to hear about the house. But you're right, it's easy to get down we just have to focus on the positive in our lives - which is a lot. I'm sure you two will find your house soon enough. Keep your heads up xoxo

  21. I can imagine how hard it is to buy a house from another state! You are definitely entitled to have a grumpy day, but I'm glad you readjusted and are looking on the bright side! PS Love me some PLL too :)

  22. House hunting is so stressful - but "everything happens for a reason" tends to become more and more true the older I get. You'll find the perfect place. And in the meantime, have some b-fast (and a mimosa) for dinner tonight ;)

  23. Il be honest, there are some many people from Michigan moving to Charleston it makes it hard to believe the houses sell so fast there! The right house will come along. We thought we had right house a few times but lost it to another bid. Then we found our dream house and quickly put in an offer and now it's our house. It just takes time!

  24. Girl, it's like you know me. And I am sorry about the houses.

  25. House hunting is a unique experience! When we looked at our current house for the 1st time there was already an offer on it, so we had to decide right then if we were also gonna place in offer, so stressful! Hope you find (and get) the perfect home soon!

  26. what a great outlook to have! yes to the PLL, someone to get me ready everyday and lots of vitamin D. hope your week is brighter already!

  29. So true! God's just waiting for y'all to find the perfect home! I actually hope that when we put our house on the market, it goes that quickly. We're super stressed over here thinking it won't :( You'll find the perfect one though!

  30. I know how frustrating the buying/selling process can be, sweet girl! We are on the opposite end of the spectrum and have been trying to sell a house in a very small town with not much movement in the real estate market. We have had no luck, and only one contract that ended up falling through. I get so sad and depressed about it, and just have to remember that God has a plan for our house, and hopefully something good will happen for us soon!

  31. Girl it's always a good day to have a good day!! As long as you and your hubby keep thinking positive, that house will come :) They say the best things in life are always the hardest!

  32. All of those gave me seriously the biggest smile. Sending you a big hug girl! It will all work out just big breath and take it one day at a time xoxoxo

  33. Sending some good luck your way! Moving can be so stressful but exciting at the same time :)

  35. 1.) Dessert should follow EVERY meal and not just dinner.
2.) What radio station are you listening to that still has BSB songs on it?! I'm living life wrong because I'm not hearing them nearly enough.
3.) Breakfast for dinner - YES.
4.) I'm glad this link-up helped you have a better day!
5.) Good luck with house hunting... it sounds stressful but I know it will turn out as it should.
    6.) Thanks for linking-up! :-)

  36. PLL is awesome -- I know we have discussed that before. Dessert should follow every meal but if it did I would be 1,000 lbs. Hang in there with house hunting. I can tell you house hunting is SO MUCH BETTER than selling a house!!!!!!! :)
