High Five for Friday

It may be Friday but my work week is continuing right into the weekend -- blah.  My "weekend" won't begin until Sunday but I've got big plans to make that one day count!  The Taste of Chicago is happening right now so I'd like to make my way down there and/or maybe hit up the beach.  We shall see.  Hope you all have a great weekend ahead of you!

+ Belated Birthday Dinner
Since we were busy on Nick's actual birthday, I made him a belated birthday dinner on Wednesday night and oh my, was it delicious.  We had grilled steak with boursin cheese on top (because everything's better with boursin) and then I made red skin mashed potatoes, sauteed green beans and key lime pie for dessert.  We rarely eat red meat so Nick was pretty much in love with this dinner.

+ Retail Therapy Sweatshirt
How great is this sweatshirt?!  Comfy and cute -- it looks like a winner in my book.

+ Perfect Vanity
I've fallen in love... with this vanity.  It's seriously perfect.  I hope to carve out a spot in my new house for something like this!

+ House Hunt
Speaking of houses... no good news here.  I mentioned previously that we had two houses that we felt good about.  We had an offer in on one and we were negotiating all week with the seller.  We came to an agreement Wednesday morning (finally!) and were starting to get our finances in order when Nick had a funny feeling about the tax amount they claimed on the house.  He called the city and turns out the seller LIED about how much their yearly taxes were.  Who does that?  The taxes were actually double what they claimed so we were pretty upset by that considering they almost duped us.  We went back to negotiate price again with the seller (since the higher taxes considerably changed our monthly payment) and they just said "no."  So there's that.  As for our "back up" house -- well, it's just that.  I like it but Nick really doesn't so we're moving on from that one.  Looks like we're back on the hunt again!

Story of my life

+ Kérastase
The Elixir Ultime and Nutritive Nectar Thermique are on their way to me right now and I can't wait til they get here!  My hairstylist used both products on me last week when I got my hair cut and my hair has never looked/felt better.  The price tags are on the higher end but I feel like hair products always last FOREVER so I'm usually willing to spend a little more.

What do you guys have planned for the weekend?!

  4. That vanity is AMAZING!!! Such a bummer about the house, if they were dishonest about the taxes, who knws what else they'd be dishonest about - it's better that you backed out of that. As for that retail therapy shirt?! Love it!!

  14. Thinking of you on your house hunting adventure. Glad you were able to see through the shady tax business before it was too late. The perfect house is out there waiting for you :) You guys will have a great pulse on the market once you find your house since you've seen so many and made several offers. You're well on your ways to being home owning pros :) But I'll seriously pray that you can find your dream home ASAP so you can enjoy your summer in Chicago!

  19. Oh my lord. How can someone lie about their taxes like that. That's awful.
You are such a good wife cooking a great dinner. I'm always like, "I'll take you out for your birthday" :)

  20. So glad Nick called that on the taxes! Are you all able to build a payment into your mortgage payment to account for the taxes? I want to say it's called an escrow account? Your dream home is out there! And that dinner looks so good you'll have to make it again when you find it. Happy weekend!

  22. I NEED that retail therapy sweatshirt! I mean, a good excuse to buy it is the fact that I don't have a graphic sweatshirt...right?? ;)
