Travel Bucket List

Another crazy, fun-filled weekend has come and gone.  Sometimes I feel like I need a vacation FROM my vacation/weekends - anyone else?  On our drive back from Michigan yesterday, Nick and I were discussing some of the places we want to visit in the future.  I've shared this list before on Kate's blog but wanted to again today!  Here is our travel bucket list...

+ London
I am DYING to go to London.  I'm hoping Nick and I can swing a Europe trip in the next couple of years and London will be our first stop.  I loved Princess Diana growing up (who didn't) and had grand plans to marry Prince William (again, who didn't?).  Since that didn't quite work out, I'll settle for a few glorious days of soaking up British culture and eating fish & chips for every meal.

+ Charleston, South Carolina
I had to include Charleston since we're heading there for our first anniversary this month and we're so excited!  Neither of us has been before but it just seems like the one of the most romantic cities.  If we're being totally honest here, I fell in love with Charleston after watching Army Wives, ha!  Please tell me I'm not the only one that watched that show!

+ Paris
What girl doesn't want to visit Paris?  Seriously.  The food, the fashion, the museums, the Eiffel Tower.. yes please.  One of my absolute must do's in Paris would be to visit the lock bridge and leave behind a love lock.  I'm not sure you'd be able to drag me home after visiting this city.

+ San Francisco, CA
Ideally, this trip would begin as a road trip up the PCH (in a convertible, top down, of course) and end in San Francisco.  We'd visit Fisherman's Wharf, Union Street, Alcatraz, ride a trolley, and do a whole lot of eating - my favorite hobby.  Oh, and I'd totally have to visit the Painted Ladies to make my 90's kid/Full House/Mary Kate & Ashley fan girl happy!

+ Bora Bora
I am a total beach girl so Bora Bora is pretty much my dream vacation.  I'm going to have to save my pennies for this trip because I would HAVE to stay at the Four Seasons in one of these bungalows over the water.  Can you imagine?!  This would be an amazing anniversary trip one day.

I could go on and on with the places I want to visit but I'll stop with 5!  Have you been to any of these places?  What's on your travel bucket list?

  1. Bora Bora is totally on my list!! I'm pretty excited to knock of Paris and London these next two weeks!! Did you hear the love bridge is actually not stable anymore and there was news that it was falling down due to the weight of all the locks...I'm sort of hoping it's still there next week...that would be a little bit of a bummer! Yay for Charleston - you guys are going to love it!

    1. There are multiple lock bridges so chances are you will be able to see one of them! It really was crazy how many locks were on the Ponts des Arts though!

  4. So many great places! Bora Bora is on my list too because those bungalows are awesome! Of course, I'd love to go to London and Paris, too! Cory and I have talked about a trip to Europe but every time we start to plan it, we get discouraged because there are so many different places we want to go! You will absolutely love Charleston and no, you aren't the only one who watched Army Wives (it pissed me off to find out they got cancelled!)

  10. England is one of my top places as well!! I would love to do San Francisco- or anywhere in California too, but we always end up going other places instead because those plane tickets alone are so expensive! I think you guys will love Charleston, it's such a beautiful southern city!

  11. So with you on a trip to London and Bora Bora! San Fran is def on our list too, probably more likely haha. Paris was amazing, I wish we had more than 2 days there because it's huge and so much to do and see. Definitely spend at least 3 days there!

  12. I love this list! When we were deciding on where to go on our honeymoon, we came up with a gazillion places we hope to visit before kiddos come into the picture. San Francisco is hopefully on the radar for our anniversary trip next year - it just looks like the coolest city. And, I'm glad I'm not alone in wanting to visit the park/Painted Ladies to get my Full House fix. The lock bridge in Paris also is on my bucket list!

  17. ohhhh if i had all the money in the world! i would travel alllll the time. I have been to London twice (oh Princess Di, I loved her! and I love Kate Middleton lol) and loved it. My husband and I are hoping to go to Europe next year, and my list is a mile long (London, Dublin, Paris, Rome, Venice, Bruges, Amsterdam..) and my husband was like 'we are not millionaires' lol. So it's been culled down. San Fran is absolutely on my list, as is Charleston. I can't wait for your recap ;)

  20. I want to go to all these places... but I don't want to travel. So that's a problem. I need some sort of future machine to walk through a door & be at my location.

  22. I definitely know how you feel about wanting a vacation from your travels! I travel so much for work that it doesn't even feel like a vacation :( What an excellent bucket list btw! Paris is gorgeous!! It is the only place on your list I have been. I would love to visit San Fran and see the house they filmed Full House! :)

  23. OMG Bora Bora is the ultimate dream trip. My husband's old office was next door to the sound stage for Army Wives and Bubba Bryant (not sure of his character name, dark haired and cute though) is actually in a local band that plays in bars all over town. Try to get his autograph for ya ;)

  28. Great list! Last week we drove from L.A. to where my sister lives which is 3 hours north along PCH/Highway 1. Its stunning. Love San Francisco too. Been to London and Paris as well and both cities are beautiful. Sign me up for the Four Seasons in Bora Bora too, that would be pretty fabulous!!

  29. Loving all of these - San Fran is on my list too!!

  30. My brother is stationed in London..! I would love to go kill two birds with one stone..!!

  31. London, Paris, Bora Bora and San Fran have always been on mine too! I've never known much about Charleston but after seeing so many people vacation there and all the pretty pics, I'd love to go!

  32. London is SUCH an amazing place. I recommend going there for at least two weeks, especially since travel takes up 2 days of your vacation. A week is DEFINITELY not enough time. My family and I went there a couple years ago after a Mediterranean Cruise, and we LOVED it. Be prepared to get drinks served without ice...it's so weird! You have to ask for ice there...but that's the only thing I can really complain about.

I want to go to Bora Bora for our 5th anniversary! Hopefully our future child will be old enough to stay with grandma and grandpa ;)

  33. Ahh all of these are also on my list but added would be Scotland and New Zealand - fab choices xoxo

  34. If you make it to San Francisco you better let me know! <3

  36. Love this list! Bora Bora is definitely one of my dream destinations! I know the travel time to get there is intense and it's probably a pretty penny but it's a must visit for me. I feel in love with San Franciscio when I visited earlier this year. I definitely recommend taking the trolly tour. It took me around to all those main attractions you mentioned plus more and it was great learning the history and some fun facts!

  37. You are going to love Charleston! It's so cute. I would love to go to SF, and pretty much everywhere on the west coast actually. I've never left the east coast!

  38. I got to tag along to Bora Bora when my parents went to Bora Bora (and some other near by islands) for their 30th. It was a wonderful beach vacation, it was so incredibly quiet there. We stayed at the Intercontinental on the other side of the island from the Four Seasons. Every night we got to watch the sun set behind the mountain. That hotel had those little villas over the water and the coffee table was clear so you could see the lagoon below. Just a word of caution do not forget sunscreen. It's right on the equator and I totally got the worst sunburn I've ever gotten.

My husband didn't get to travel much as a child so I am so looking forward to taking him to the great national parks, he's kind of outdoorsy. I'm currently trying to decide between Yellowstone and Yosemite. Hopefully, we'll be able to go to Hawaii and see Volcanoes National Park. That would be the best since there will be beach time AND hiking time.

  39. Love your list!! I'd definitely add going to Muir Woods to your San Fran trip - the giant Redwoods are ah-mazing! I'd love to go on on a cruise again and visit several tropical locations, Washington DC in the Spring, UP of Michigan, Montana and Maine. I'd love to see Paris one day because it just seems like such a romantic destination and maybe Italy or Ireland. Basically, I'd be on board for any travel plans that headed my way.

  40. Ok...your travel bucket list looks like mine! Seriously haven't been to any of those places and would LOVE TO! I would also add Italy. I'm dying to go to Italy - the wine, the cheese, the pasta, the views and would love to check out Sicily where my hubby's fam is from!

  41. Charleston is high on my list! I've been to London and it is amazing! I could spend weeks there! I've also been to Paris and actually hated it... But I think I am one of the few. People were not friendly

  42. This is such a great list. Bora Bora is on my dream list too, as is Australia!
