The End of a Country Clubbin' Era

So, today is my last day or work.  It's a bittersweet feeling... I have really enjoyed my job and I'll be sad to walk out those doors for the final time tonight.  For those of you that don't know, I work for a country club in the Chicago suburbs... doing a little bit of everything.  We assist members with any needs they may have, work with the dining rooms, assist with any catering needs and do a lot of marketing for the club.  It's a job that is met with new challenges and projects each day... you never know what you're walking into but that has probably been my favorite aspect of it.  I've worked with so many great people and am just so thankful to have had a job that I enjoyed and didn't mind going to each day.  I know a lot of people can't say the same and for that, I was fortunate.

On the other hand, I probably could get used to this not working thing! ;) I will find a new job once we move but I'm going to take my time and get settled in.  It will also be important for me to wait for the right job to come along.  I'm not sure what that is going to look like yet but I want something I'm going to enjoy and be happy to spend 40 hours a week there, not just a job to bring home a paycheck.

My dream career would be to get into healthcare administration... preferably in a hospital setting.  I graduated from college with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Psychology and took the first job I could get my hands on.  Ahhh, the 2010 economy.  I settled for a job in management at a chain of grocery stores here in Chicago but knew quickly it wasn't for me.  It wasn't long before I started working at the country club and while that's been a great job, I know that this time I really want to pursue what I'm passionate about.  But I also know that God's plans are greater than our own, so I'm up for whatever he has in store for me.

A big thank you to my job for being an awesome place to spend my days... it's been an amazing three and a half years.  I can't wait to see what's coming next!

  5. Congratulations to you! I know what a big step that is considering I just went through it last year. I admire your approach to finding a new job; I put so much pressure on myself after we moved to find a new job that I didn't fully enjoy the last few months of our engagement/wedding planning and everything else that was happening. Just go where life takes you - I'm sure you'll find/do something great!
