Weekending... Kind Of

Ahhh Monday, we meet again.  I'm not going to subject you guys to a full weekend recap because this is how my weekend went....

Friday: work, takeout sushi, Real Housewives marathon.

Saturday: pack, errands, Chick-Fil-A.

Sunday: work work work and more work.

Nothing of interest to read about.  Although, one of our errands on Saturday included bringing some old clothes to Plato's Closet.  I wasn't expecting much so I was very happy when I found out they were willing to pay me $69!  Yes, please!  I turned right around with that money and purchased a hand held vacuum... and was SO excited to do so.  My priorities have really shifted!

My new baby

Life has mainly just revolved around packing, cleaning, organizing and trying to get together with as many friends as possible before we skip town.  Which is only in 19 days now.. wowzer.  I'm not nearly as sad as I thought I would be but I'm sure that will change when moving time actually comes.  I honestly think it was a blessing in disguise that it took us so long to find *the* house because it gave me so much time to mentally prepare for leaving Chicago!

I will miss our neighborhood!

The week ahead is going to be a busy one -- filled with volleyball playoffs, my last few days of work, dinner with friends and just the normal life stuff.  Poor Nick, his work office is moving this week so he's getting a double dose of all the moving nonsense.  Yuck.

We will also hopefully find out when our exact closing date is so we can start to get things arranged for that.  I really want to hire a cleaning company to get in there and scrub the place from top to bottom before we move in.  The house itself isn't dirty but they did have a cat which I'm allergic to.  Nick thinks we can just clean it ourselves but I don't want to spend my first days in the house sneezing and feeling terrible... so cleaning company it is!

Anyway, I hope you've all had a more exciting weekend than I have!  Enjoy your day!

  2. My friday night was exactly the same with sushi - I mean there is nothing better!! I agree hire a cleaning company to give it a good scrub, especially because of the cat!! Sounds like a productive weekend and I'm sure you're going to have a productive week!! xo

  3. Your weekend pretty much seems like mine, minus the packing! Great idea on hiring a cleaning company for your new house - that never would have occurred to me. Hope you enjoy your last days in Chicago. :)

  5. I'm not a fan of sushi but it always looks so pretty!! I definitely think it's a good idea to hire a cleaning company, saves you the time and the effort while you do other things! Hope you enjoy your last 19 days in Chicago!

  6. That sushi looks so yummy! I'm crazing some now and it's only 830 am!! Isn't it funny how our priorities change once we become adults.I got a Dyson a few months ago and it makes me want to vacuum more often! Not a bad thing!

    Life as I know it

  7. Yay for your last weekend of work!! I just had a cleaning company come and do the same. There's so much going on, it takes a huge chunk off your plate too. I found one on Groupon and it saved me a ton of money. I want that sushi for lunch now!!

  8. 19 days?! It's coming up so quickly! We has sushi this weekend, too! Delicious.
I laughed when I read you used your Plato's Closet money to buy a vacuum. My how our priorities change. It really is funny. :)

  10. Your Friday night sounds pretty idea-- substitute the sushi for pizza though ;) Our vacuum cleaner is still one of my favorite wedding gifts we received, which is so lame, but it's one of the most practical things! Your last few weeks will probably fly by, but I'm sure you're almost ready to just be settled in! I can't wait to hear more about the house and everything once you move!

  13. Butterfly is so good, I haven't been there in a long time. Love the Housewives too, but I only watch Beverly Hills and the OC. Glad that you had a nice weekend and have a great day! :-)

  15. i cannot tell you how much i want a handvac. we got one for a shower or something and then somehow lost the cord in the move so we need another or a new cord, may as well buy a new one. we had the one you pictured, its so good. 19 days?! holy moly girl! i am 10000000% with you on the cleaning company. seriously, you wont regret it. not only because of the cat, but because cleaning people will do a much better job than you. i really wanted one, KC said no, so I wanted to clean the night before we moved in, which didn't really happen and then it was really hard to clean while the boys were moving furniture and what not. plus, sellers dont have to have it clean, they just have to have it not dirty - does that make sense? so they dont have to sweep unless there's a crazy amount of crap on the floor, they don't have to dust, nothing. seriously, do it. Nick, I'm talking to you now. Let her do it.

  27. That sushi looks awesome!! Oh my gosh, Katie, I have been having such anxiety about leaving my friends here! I was thinking about you the other day and wondered how you're handling that part. I'm trying to see all of my friends too but also keep thinking "what if the buyers bail on us at the last minute?!" At least YOU are the buyer and know you're not. So y'all don't have a defined closing date?? And definitely hire a cleaning company...especially with the cat allergies!

  30. Totally support the cleaning company decision. After all, as clean as the people before you may have been, it will just feel better to know that it is professionally clean and ready for move in:) And yay for Chick-fil-A!

  34. I seriously want to eat sushi every day and am always jealous of those that can just get it as take-out conveniently. Darn small-town living! And to pair it with a RH marathon? Solid night IMO. You are so CRAZY close to home ownership! How stinking exciting!

  35. Only 19 more days!!! How exciting and I agree about the cleaning company!!
