Five on Friday 9/12

Just about sums my week up

TGIF!  I may not be working right now but I sure am glad to see Friday.  It's been a busy week full of painting, painting, oh and more painting.  Things are looking awesome but I'm ready for a break from the fumes and having sore arms.  Not to mention we have a lot to look forward to these next few days so I've been extra anxious for Friday to arrive!  But before we get into all that fun, lets recap the highlights from this week...

Royal Baby
Is anyone else super excited about another royal baby?  I love all things Kate and can't wait to follow along with this pregnancy.  Hoping it's a girl this time around and hoping poor Kate feels better soon.  Hyperemesis gravidarum sounds like no joke.

Bad Blogger
That's me!  I've been struggling to find the time to keep up with all things blogging this week.  It's easy for me to get posts up and I really enjoy reading/commenting on all of your blogs but the part I have the most trouble with is responding to emails.  I'm so grateful for the comments and always want to respond to them ALL but when I'm busy, that's the first thing to go.  Is that bad?  I promise/hope it will get better soon and I'll be back to responding to emails like a good blogger!

Paint Color
So we scrapped both of the paint colors that we were sampling on the wall in this post.  We tried a million and one grey shades but they just weren't working with the carpet.  And since the carpet isn't going anywhere for a while, we decided to just embrace it and go with a light tan color.  Natural by Valspar is what we settled on and I'm pretty much in love! This room is my inspiration and don't be surprised if I pretty much copy it exactly.

Scarf Frenzy
Scarves are one of my most favorite things about fall/winter and I can't wait to break out my massive collection soon. The elusive Zara scarf that was all over Pinterest last year is back and you can get the red version here!  I think it's going to go fast so make sure to get your hands on it while you can.  I'm also loving this one in the red + blue from Nordstrom... already on the way to me :)

Blogger Date
I had my first blogger meet up this week!  The lovely Elise and I grabbed drinks and it was such a good time.  It's so funny that when you read someones blog and then meet them in person, you already feel like you know the person.  So sad she's heading back to Texas soon but also so excited to follow along on the adventure!  And major blogger fail, we didn't take a single picture!

We're off tomorrow to our final wedding of 2014 and then will be in New Orleans next week!  I have a couple of posts lined up but otherwise I'll be taking a much needed few days off.  Hope you all have a wonderful week/end and don't forget to follow along on Instagram!

  1. I know this house decorating has to be a lot of work! But the finished product will be perfect! And that scarf...I saw it in store in New York last year and didn't get it, and next thing I knew it was all over the place and I couldn't order it and I was majorly kicking myself! Now I can't decide which one I want! And yesss to all things Kate. She is perrfect! Happy Weekend! xo

  2. I saw that room on Pinterest so your house will look gorgeous! As much as I love greys, beiges are just so much easier to work with and better for long term. I painted three rooms and gave up and called painters. I will take any painting tips you have because I am so bad it! Can't wait to see the after pictures! Have a great weekend lady!! xoxoxo

  6. I might need that red, white, and blue scarf too! So cute! I'm so glad you guys picked out a paint color, I can't wait to see the finished product! And, yes! So excited for another royal baby, sometimes I annoy myself that I even care, but it's just so fun to follow along and it's so hard not to be obsessed with Kate. I hope you guys have such a fun trip to New Orleans- sounds like just the break you need from moving stress!

  11. Last weekend we were visiting some friends. They have done TONS of work to their home. She asked me what I thought about the bathroom color and i mentioned maybe changing to to a "greige" color. She opened a drawer and plopped out the entire Home Depot paint library. Apparently the paint guy let her "borrow it". Huge mistake on his part, but total win on hers!

  21. I didn't realize that it was actually true that Kate was pregnant again. That is so exciting! And congrats on picking a paint color! I'm the crazy paint chip lady too so I know how difficult it is deciding on a color. ;) I'm looking forward to seeing your room come together! That is such a cute scarf. I'm addicted to scarves and this 60 degree day today has me ready to get them all out...and buy some more ;) Have fun in New Orleans! -Jess

  22. It's okay, you'll get better at the blogger date selfies the more you have them - there's tons of opportunities!

  23. I'm totally on Royal Bump watch, too!! Did you camp out at the TV when Prince George was born so you could catch the royals leaving the hospital?? Because I did!!

  24. You totally do feel like bloggy friends have been your friend for so long when you meet in person :)
I think you cant go wrong with a basic color like that - & its easy to change later.
I am the queen of scarves. I can't get enough.

  28. I love the color idea...if you can't make gray work, you can't make it work and I think this looks gorgeous!

Ahhh aren't blogger meet-ups the best? I had one with Omaha Bloggers last year and then four lovely MN bloggers I met came down for a yoga event I organized and we had the best time ever! I agree...I totally felt like I've known them forever!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love Elise!!!!! So excited you guys got to meet up! Oh and it really needs to get cold here so I can bust out all my scarves I totally agree!

  31. LOVE that scarf! So fun you got to have a blogger date :) Girl, we all understand how time consuming the blogging world can be, don't you worry about replies. Don't let it stress you out!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh my gosh, that wall color you ended up choosing is gorgeous! And I'm a total copycat too, especially now with Pinterest when it comes to decorating our home. No shame girlfriend!!

Aren't blogger dates the best? I've been on a few and none of them have been awkward surprisingly!

  33. Ahh, I love everything about this post. I am crazy about scarves and the royal baby too...and I totally love that color on the room you posted. So beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am glad the blogger date went well! I am too terrified to ever go on one. I know people can seem a certain way online and then be totally different in person...I am afraid of someone being disappointed if I don't seem like the "me" that they know from my blog.

  35. Um yes so excitedfor the new royal baby!! I think that living room is perfect--can't wait to see the final look. Check out livelovediy.com for ideas...I love her!

  38. OMG Painting is exhausting! I have been painting almost every weekend for like 6 weeks and it wears me out. I have only done our living room and my closet. I have a long way to go, but I am just doing a little at a time. Have so much fun in New Orleans!! One of my very favorite places!

  39. That room is gorgeous! I was such a crazy paint lady when we moved into our house. Every single wall (and ceiling) was painted. Aaaand at almost a year I'm already ready to repaint our master bedroom haha. Major issues!

  40. I am SO ready for scarves too! I have way too many, and I can't wait to start rotating through them again. The chill is finally in the air here, so it won't be long... :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
    xo Always, Abby

  42. Yay for Blogger Dates! I've yet to meet a blog friend in real life but it will happen one of these days!
Enjoy the wedding and New Orleans. We visited New Orleans about 2 years ago and it was the best food ever :)

  43. I am SO with you. My responses to comments are so delayed right now. I feel awful! Enjoy your weekend! I'm most jealous about your trip to NOLA! xo

  44. Aw does Kate have that again? She had it with Baby George too. I'm always a bad blogger bc a rarely respond to emails! There's no time in my day and it's either read blogs and comment or respond to emails and obviously I'd prefer to read blogs! Hope you're have a great weekend!

  45. Those scarves are so fabulous! I love them! Also, enjoy your few days off and travels to New Orleans! Every blogger deserves a break from blogland sometimes! Can't wait to see your trip though! Have fun!

  47. I'm so excited for royal baby #2 also! I am horrible at responding to comments lately too. I hate doing it but when I'm busy it's the first thing to go, blogging can be exhausting sometimes! I love that you've embraced the beige. I have Revere pewter and Barren plain in my house and they both read much more beige than gray and I love it. Much easier color to work with in my opinion if you want to stay neutral!
