Fall To Do List

Good morning!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

Ours was fun... busy again but fun.  We had the best time at our friends engagement party on Friday but unfortunately I didn't take a single picture.  Major fail.  Other than that, we just worked on the house (updates coming this week), I spent any free minute of time reading Gone Girl and we sold my old car, yay!  I won't bore you with a recap of our weekend to do list... but I will bore you with my fall to do list ;)

I love this time of year but feel like we've been working so hard on the house that we haven't spent much time doing anything else.  Since I'm super OCD about checking things off lists, I figured if I wrote everything I want to do down that I'll actually do it.  Tell me I'm not the only one?  I've included some favorite fall activities and also a few things that I just need to do.  Here we go...

1.  Visit an apple orchard/pumpkin patch
Because this is a given, right?  I want apples and apple cider and pumpkins... but what I REALLY want to get my hands on are some apple cider donuts ;)

2.  Find a "home" church
We've tried out one church here in our new city so far and it wasn't the one for us.  We need to make an effort to check out a new one each week until we find that perfect fit.  And hopefully once we do, we can get involved in a small group or activity of some sort.

3.  Bake all the pumpkin recipes
Pumpkin EVERYTHING!  Specifically pumpkin bread, pumpkin pasta, pumpkin french toast.. you get the picture. Anyone have any amazing pumpkin recipes they want to share?!

4.  Clean and preserve my wedding dress
My wedding was 15 months ago and my dress is still hanging up in my closet, dirty!  I would love to pass it on to my future daughter one day... not necessarily to wear but just to keep.  I have my mom's dress and it's such a treasure.  If I'm going to do that though, getting it cleaned is a must do... I can't put it off any longer.

5.  Decorate our front porch
I'm beyond excited to finally have a porch to decorate!  Pretty much all of our focus has been on the inside of the house but with Halloween (and all the adorable trick-or-treaters) coming up, I need to have a cute porch.

6.  Try out a stove simmer
Specifically this one that Lisa shared.  Mmmm, I can smell the deliciousness already :)

7.  Go to another football game
High school, college, NFL... doesn't matter.  It just needs to happen!

8.  Make crockpot applesauce
With my apples from the apple orchard of course :)  This recipe looks like an easy, foolproof one!  I'd also just like to use my crockpot more in general.

9.  Visit my grandparents
I've been meaning to do this for months and haven't had (more like made...) the time.  Sometimes it hits me that they really are getting older and I can't take my time with them for granted anymore.  Getting up to Holland to see them and have dinner is of the utmost importance!

10.  Watch a scary movie
But just one because scary movies literally do scare the bejesus out of me.

Nick also wants me to add "clean out the gutters" but we'll leave that up to him to worry about ;)
What's on your fall to do list?

  2. Try to find a pumpkin-filled ravoli. It can be quite good in a buttery sauce.

  3. What a fun list! Going to an apple orchard/pumpkin patch is on my list, too for the EXACT same reasons as you - helllooooo apple cider donuts. This shouldn't be too hard to accomplish considering there is a super cute orchard a mile down the road from us. Hooray for front porch decorating - I can't wait to eventually do the same! Have a great Monday, lady.

  4. I think I might bake some pumpkin bread tonight! Apple cider donuts sound amazing! I love that porch picture you put because it looks just like my small porch and I have no clue how to decorate it!

  5. I love a good Fall to-do list! We went apple picking yesterday and donuts were the ONLY thing I could think about! Maybe you should make some pumpkin donuts too! Definitely don't put the gutters on your list ;)

  6. Awesome list! I need to get my dress cleaned still too. And we tried out an apple donut this weekend, but it sadly tasted like a regular donut. We were drinking apple cider with it and it was freezing out so that might have had something to do with it. I guess we'll just have to give them another try!

  8. I can't handle scary movies, Hocus Pocus is as far as I can go! Last year we were in the apartment so no trick or treaters, I am so excited for this year cause we are in the house. We don't have much of a porch though, lol.And jeepers my dress is dirty as well, I'm not sure if I will keep it and pass on to my future daughter, or try and sell it. My mother in law paid for it, and I'm not sure how she'd feel about me selling it, but it is so freaking big and takes up so much room... who knows. Oh I am totally making pumpkin soup soon! I know it's not popular here but it is my fave cool weather recipe.

  12. Love your fall list too! Our friends that we were with this weekend are from Michigan and they were talking about going to an apple orchard. But they were calling it a cider mill? Anyway, that would be fun. So would going to a pumpkin patch. I love the sound of the applesauce recipe, and yay that you get to decorate a front porch! You'll find the right church too, that definitely takes time. Have a great day! :-)

  14. Numbers 2, 4, 5 and 10 (many times over) are on my list! I've had my wedding dress in the guest closet for... Oh, I don't know... Months and months and months on end! And just like you, we've been to two different churches here and haven't connected with either. Why is it so hard to find a good church?!
