Five on Friday 10/31

Happy Halloween!!!  We've got a pretty low key night ahead of us.  Passing out candy to the trick-or-treaters that brave the rain/snow we're currently experiencing and a scary movie is on the agenda.  Oh, and lots of candy eating, too.

I still can't believe that today is the last day of October.  I'm dreading the winter, more so than usual... thinking about being cooped up inside for 5+ months just makes me sad.  But, I guess I have to get through winter to get back to summer again soooo I'm going to try and focus on the positives (the HOLIDAYS) instead.

Here's 5 things I'm looking forward to in November!

ONE | COSTCO
You guys, we have been without a Costco for two months now and that is two months too long!  The brand new one opens up on November 12th and I'll probably be first in line.  We heart Costco.

TWO | THANKSGIVING
Well this is a given.  Turkey, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, chocolate pie, all the pies.  We're spending Thanksgiving this year with Nick's family and it will be my first time with them so I can't wait to see how they do it.

THREE | BLACK FRIDAY
I love me some Black Friday shopping.  It's been my dad and I's tradition for years to shop all night long and it's so much fun.  Since we'll be at Nick's this year, he's going to have to sub in for my dad.  Hopefully he can keep up and we find a bunch of house stuff that day!

FOUR | OUR BEDROOM
Our bedroom needs major help.  They always say it's one of the last rooms in a new house to be 'finished' and I can see how that is the case... but I don't want to that to happen.  Our new headboard arrived last night... now I just need to decide on a paint color, bedding, night stands, dresser, etc.  Basically everything.  Suggestions welcome :)

FIVE | CHICAGO
We're going back to Chicago, finally!  Nick has a work dinner there on a Saturday night later this month so we're making a little night trip out of it.  I can't wait to be back in the city.

So all in all, it's going to be a pretty good month.  And I'm obviously way too excited already about decorating for Christmas.  Have you seen all the cute holiday stuff at Target?  I'm going to go broke.  Happy Friday!

  4. Ok so my Sam's Club membership is up for renewal but I was contemplating Costco instead...sounds like you would agree with that recommendation??

Aww I'm so glad you get to go back to Chicago for a bit! I'm sure you miss it! I love Chicago - I think I'm going to surprise Nick with a trip in December since I have to be there for a work trip so we can just make a long weekend of it - I will reach out to you again for ideas =)

And loving that headboard! Seriously Target is on point these days....love everything!

  7. Hooray for Costco! It's going to be 45 minutes away from us at the new house, but I told Ryan we still have to go at least once a month. I mean, I can't give up their take and bake pizzas. They are life-changing. I am cracking up at that Black Friday graphic - it's so true! We are keeping our eyes out for deals on appliances, so let me know if you find any. I haven't been to Target yet ... is the holiday stuff up?! I hope so because we need stockings. Have a fabulous weekend!

  8. Yay for a fun month ahead!! And costco really is the best. Happy Halloween!!:)

  9. It's snowing?! Ahh too soon! Thank goodness for Costco is all I can say :) What are you going for with your bedroom? My personal feeling is that it should always be white or blue since they are the most "calming" colors and have lots of different textures throughout. I'm just starting on our room and my decorator friend said that master bedrooms are always the last room to be done but one of the most important!

  10. I love the headboard you chose! That is the kind I wish we had, but I inherited my hubs bedroom set unfortunately. We have a Costco close by and I always think about joining, but I fear for my wallet. lol. Have a good weekend!

  12. Oh girl, as someone who is from Minneapolis and now lives in a much warmer, kinder climate, I TOTALLY know the feeling of, "Oh crap. I'm about to not see light and not feel my toes for five months. Nooooo!!!" I feel for you. I really do.

  13. I am tempted to go Black Friday shopping this year since I am currently a housewife - I spent most of the last several years working in retail on that day. *shudder* But I actually think the week before Thanksgiving is crazier.

  14. Love that headboard that you chose!! My parents are Costco members and will sometimes ask us if we need anything. Have fun tonight and a have a great weekend! :-)

  17. That Black Friday meme is too funny. I usually stick to the online shopping deals even though I know there's the thrill of going out and facing the crowds. We keep going back and forth on joining Costco, and I'm not sure why because it sounds like such an obvious thing to do, haha. Hope you guys have a good weekend!

  21. Haha! We have a lot of similar excitements in Nov! I leave for a week in Chicago on Tuesday AND I've finally convinced my husband to join the cult that is costco!!!!!!

  22. We love Costco too and there is not one in Columbia, so we always go when we are in Charleston (about a 2 hour drive away). I also DREAD the winter. I know that sounds stupid seeing as I live in the south and IF we get snow it is maybe 1-2 inches like one day a year, but I just hate the cold weather!

  23. Um snow?? We haven't had anything lower than 68.. This is so depressing. Seriously. Florida doesn't understand the word Fall.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Snow?! That is crazy! I love how excited you are for Costco, lol! I share the same excitement for my daily trip to Target, though, so I can't really talk! Happy Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I hear ya on your Costco excitement! Especially with the holidays right around the corner! Just do not go the day before Thanksgiving...I learned the hard way last year!

  27. I am getting really depressed about winter coming too. Quality of life sucks here in the winter. At least there are some things to look forward to in November! I can't wait for green bean casserole! Have fun handing out candy tonight!

  31. We LOVE costco also... it's way better in the US though! Chicago is one of the top 5 cities I want to visit! It looks like such a beautiful city, and Oprah is from there so that's everything in my books! Haha! Hope you have a fabulous weekend! xo

  32. Dying over the smart car in the cart return -- how crazy?! The mountains in NC are forecasting snow, but I think we're just getting chilly rain here this weekend. And I loveee Thanksgiving and of course the black Friday shopping with my mom. Hope you have the best weekend!

  35. My Mom and I always go Black Friday shopping but Cory and I are spending Thanksgiving in TX this year. It's gonna be weird not being with any of our family. I'm hoping Cory will do a little shopping with me, too! Love the headboard, by the way!

  36. Oh man, our dogs would starve to death if it weren't for Costco ha. Glad you are getting one soon! Chicago will be amazing (and you'll get to miss the snow!). Happy Halloween, love!

  37. I have not looked at the Christmas stuff at Target yet...But, I have a feeling Caleb and I will be making an outing there next week. I can't believe tomorrow starts the month of November. WHAT the what? Where did this year go!!?!?!?!?!

Side note: I did purchase a Christmas throw pillow for our living room today at Marshalls. So, there's that. Oh, and Christmas movies start TODAY on Hallmark. So, bring on the holiday cheer!!!
