The Most Girly Room In The House

One of the rooms in our new house that I'm most excited to start working on is the office!  This is going to be my spot, my domain... so all that decorating with keeping my husband in mind is going out the window.  The office is going to be straight up girly and I can't wait.

This is the current situation.  Blah blah blah.  Those buttercup walls have GOT to go, hopefully this week.  I'm thinking I want to do white walls with pops of color in everything else.  Kind of like this...

The most popular wall color that I'm finding is Benjamin Moore's Simply White.  We tried this one in our fireplace room but it was too blue based and didn't work down there.  The office has more natural light so this color may be perfect for it.

Over the long run, I'd love to get a new desk (loving this one) but in the meantime I'll probably just give the desk a paint refresh, too.  We actually bought it for $40 off of Craiglist a few years ago.  It wasn't in the best condition but it's amazing what sanding + paint can do!  I'm thinking I'll go with white for the desk, too.

And can we talk about these ghost chairs?  I l-o-v-e them and my husband despises them, no surprise there.  He has put a kabosh in having one downstairs but all bets are off when it comes to my office.  I think they are just so cool but my one concern is comfort... I have a hard time believing these can be comfortable.  Anyone own one?

If we're talking dream chairs... this is one that I would never be able to have in another room, ha! I saw it at World Market this week and wanted to just throw it in my truck and call it a day.  It's so fabulous (and on sale).

But back to more practical things now.  Storage is a must and I love the look of these bookshelves.  I could do this super cheap with IKEA Kallax Shelving Units.  Oooh and maybe gold polka dots on one wall?  This room is going to be out of control.  Fun frames with quotes are also a most definite MUST.

I can see it all now in my head... the girliest, whitest, polka dotted, most inspirational home office ever.  What's the most girly room in your house?!

  3. Ah, I love this! I think every girl deserves at least one room in a house that is completely hers and girly - guys get their man caves, don't they?! I love all your inspiration pic - I'm pretty sure I have half of them pinned on my own office space board! As far as the ghost chairs, I don't own one, but I remember Virginia from Live Love DIY saying how darn uncomfortable hers is. You probably could put a pillow or cushion on it to help, but as someone who works from home, trust me when I say a comfortable office chair is a must! Like that hot pink one. ;)

  16. Last time I was at Home Goods, they had ghost chairs! You could always add a fun and girly cushion to it that goes along with the rest of your color scheme! Love the desk that you have -- a fun color could be neat! Can't wait to see what you do!

  22. I am so excited for you girl! Can I seriously vicariously live through you with your office? I need one so badly since propping my computer on my lap on the couch is getting a little old.....one day!

I love those ghost chairs but I don't think they are that comfortable. That pink tufted one on the other hand......totally throw it in the truck!

  26. This is going to be amazing! Our house is all darker tones (rich dark wood, burgundies, brown leather, and warm tones) and I love it, but I also kind of wish I could have one room like this, all white and clean and girly!

  27. Do you ever read The Lauren Elizabeth? She just posted pics of her new place, and she did the all white with a touch of gold. SO PRETTY! I'm loving the white with just one big pop or color or a shiny metallic.

  32. What a great office space! I have the Kallax in our office in white and love it! I want a ghost chair - they are pretty comfy!! We used Simply White around our house and it is too blue based for a wall but Decorator's White is a great option to look at! My office vision is literally the exact same as yours!!

  33. Sounds amazing!! I'd keep your eyes peeled at places like Homegoods and World Market for the perfect office chair. That way you can try it out to ensure it's comfy and you may have great luck since you don't need a matching set. I'm currently debating what color wall polkadots to put in our half bath! I'm debating on gold or black. We have one of those IKEA storage shelves in the 4x2 square size and love it. We've used it horizontal and vertical and it's been a pantry, bookshelf and now toy shelf. Can't go wrong with that storage system - plus you can get great boxes to fit in each slot to hide LOTS of stuff. I can't wait to see how your office comes together.

  34. I can't wait to see it done, how fun!! I love all your inspiration pics ;) I had the best time redoing my desk area, it was fun because it was all ME too. Dustin never uses that area!

  35. I love all of your inspiration pics. I think we have that same buttercup paint in our house, blech.
I want to redo our office as well, one day lol. My husband's computer is in the living room and I have been begging him to move it to the 'office' since we bought the house but he's stubborn. I think it will make it easier if I have a desk in there as well, or maybe I'll just take the room for myself and make it girly as heck. That being said I totally want a chair like the pink one, maybe not pink but big overstuffed and comfy, not an office chair. Live Love DIY had one of those ghost chairs in her office and I am pretty sure she moved it out of the office.

  46. I can't wait for our remodeling to be completely done here, because then I can finally start working on my office as well. Love all of your inspiration photos....is it bad that I made my office board on Pinterest secret so nobody can steal my ideas? hahahaha

The next time you or your company is within the marketplace for a replacement engineering chair or chairs make sure to not skip on quality to save lots of cash, you'll compromise your health in addition as others. Most pay longer at work than sleeping, it's best to form the investment on making a cushty and productive work atmosphere.
