Weekending

It's funny how different our weekends are now, living in Michigan compared to Chicago.  They used to revolve around our friends, trying new restaurants and just generally whatever we wanted to do... and now they revolve strictly around the house!  We had another busy and productive weekend so I'm going to keep things short and sweet today since I still have quite a few things to check off the "to do" list that we didn't have time to get to.

This weekend I...

Had a Friday night date night with my favorite guy!  My Apple Sparkler drink was quite delicious and I'm kind of wishing I had one to sip on right now.

Picked up our new Kendall sofa.  Totally worth the terrifying drive home with it hanging out the back of my truck, ha!  I can't wait to fill it with lots of fun pillows.  We'll probably rearrange this room once we buy all the rest of the furniture but for now, it just feels so good to have something in the previously empty space.

Finished Gone Girl.  No spoilers but I did find the ending pretty unsatisfying... anyone else?  This is one book that I wouldn't mind if they altered the ending in the movie.  Hopefully we will have time to see it this week!

Fell in love with a chair at Home Goods that I didn't buy.  We're looking for two of the same chairs for the fireplace room and we thought this could be the winner... until we found out there was no second chair.  That's the worst part about those stores - they have no stock!  The search continues.

Got all caught up on Nashville, finally.  Love love love that show!

Also watched the first episode of How To Get Away With Murder.  Obviously, the ending of the show hooked me... but is it worth continuing to watch?  So many shows, so little time you know.

Ordered this pretty for the entryway.  World Market is having a Friends & Family 25% off sale that ends today - I snagged this for only $75!

Visited a new church but sadly, it wasn't the right one for us.  It's hard to find the right fit!  I remember it took us about 5 churches in Chicago to find our favorite.  3 to go maybe?

Went on a little hike with Nick.  Sunday was the most beautiful day and it was so nice to get and check out all the colored trees and leaves.  Fall has to be the prettiest season.

Ate WAY too much pizza.  Hence why we needed to get out for a walk ;)

Painted our kitchen!!!  Definitely the highlight of the weekend.  Goodbye orange/red/brown walls, hello Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter!  Can't wait to show you guys pictures later this week after the second coat goes on.

So yep, another busy one!  What did you do this weekend?

  5. Love that entryway fixture and the couch of course! Homegoods is great, but it's true you never know what they're going to have! Bummer about that chair. Gorgeous fall picture! Can't wait to see the kitchen :)

  6. So many great updates to the house and that first picture of you is the best!! I love your new sofa!! Sometimes I have luck at Home Goods when they call other stores to see if they have the same piece...not sure how close the other one is to you!! Hope you have another productive day!!

  7. Love your new couch! So pretty! And boo to HomeGoods for only having one chair in stock. Love shopping there but hate when I find one thing I love when I need two! And yeah, I wasn't impressed with the ending of Gone Girl either. I had two friends that saw it this weekend and they said the ending matched the book pretty spot on. Boo. Happy Monday!

  10. Sounds like such a busy weekend! Love that new couch, the tufting makes it look so cozy! I saw some chairs similar to the Home Goods one on Overstock, have you checked there? I really wanted to buy them but I'm forcing myself to wait until we buy like you guys so we know if they will fit elsewhere!

  11. Love the new sofa! Unsatisfying is a great way to put how I felt about the ending of Gone Girl.

  12. I like that couch and chair! And the lamp, even if I prefer not to support World Market anymore (do not approve of them after having an interview there once). Was that Apple Sparkler drink at one of the national chain restaurants?

  13. That entry light is amazing! I am totally loving the edison bulb look. I also really love that chair. Too bad there wasn't a mate to go along with that one.

Fall in Michigan is really the best - I grew up there! :)

  14. Can't wait to see the finished kitchen! That sofa is so gorgeous! Yay for new house purchases! The ending of Gone Girl made me want to throw my Kindle across the room. SO unsatisfying/frustrating!

  15. I too ate too much pizza this weekend... What is it about it that makes you overindulge?! Totally agree on Home Goods. It's completely hit or miss - either you score something amazing, or you're let down from crummy inventory.

  16. How fun!

I can't wait to see how the kitchen changed with just a simple paint job. Paint does such amazing things.

This weekend my MIL, SIL, and BIL came to visit. We went to the Aggie game and just hung around. I love fall weekends.

  17. SO productive! I adore the sofa and its color- as well as that entry-way light!! Glad yall had a good weekend! ( I felt the same way about Gone Girl...) xoxo

  18. Gah, I really disliked the ending of Gone Girl, glad you agree lol. I thought I would be in the minority!
Can't wait to see the kitchen - my kitchen is yellow with striped walls so I have been wanting to paint it since we moved in. I am still in love with your sofa, you'll have to give us an update a few months from now to let us know how it holds up...I'm considering getting it but it would be a few months I think, so you'll have to let me know if it holds up after lots of use - if you're gonna use it a lot that is lol.

  19. Does home goods have a stock search system? That chair looks so comfy... but yes, hard to just buy one! I am amazed you handled the couch too... I would have been too nervous!!

  20. That'll happen to your weekends when you become a home owner! I felt the same way about the Gone Girl ending, but then you just accept it! The movie is awesome but not nearly as thrilling as it would be if you didn't know what was going to happen!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Um yes. The ending to Gone Girl absolutely sucks! When I finished the book I through it down in disgust. Lol. I will say, the movie totally made up for it though!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Your couch is just awesome! That stinks that they only had one of those chairs, so disappointing :( I haven't read Gone Girl, but can't wait to watch the movie!

  23. What a cute couch. Looks vintage & modern all in one!!
Nashville... Deacon!!! He melts my heart.

  24. I was disappointed in the ending too! Wondering what the movie will end like. Your painting marathon is impressive. We picked out paint colors for the boys room, the living room and the kitchen. We have to paint our room, the bathrooms, and the basement too but those are the rooms we want to do first. I will feel your pain soon enough! :)

  25. Beautiful fall picture!! I love your new couch too! My parents have one that is similar but it's a dark red color. Stinks about that pretty chair too, but I'm sure that you can find something similar at another store. I'm glad that you had a nice weekend. Hope that you are having good day so far too! :-)

  26. Ugh I hated Gone Girl's ending too! I don't want to spoil the movie for you but let me just say don't expect much. The movie was great don't get me wrong but it pretty much followed the book to a T.

  27. The couch looks amazing! I love that chair too -- hating that they didn't have two! Check out TJ Maxx! The one here had some great chair options the last time I was there! Glad you ha a great weekend! xo

  28. Wow, you had quite the busy weekend! I was so glad when you told me that World Market's furniture is reasonably priced - I'm pretty much obsessed with that sofa. I'm sad there wasn't a second chair at HomeGoods because it would have matched the sofa perfectly! I was totally unsatisfied with the ending of Gone Girl, too - we also saw the movie last weekend. It was good, but I probably would never see it again - just a warning, it is pretty graphic in some parts. Can't wait to see your kitchen! Happy Monday!

  30. Big boo to the ending of Gone Girl. I feel like Gillian Flynn owes us a sequel so Amy can finally get what's coming to her ha. Love, love your couch and can't wait for the kitchen reveal. Good lord, those old home owners had bad taste haha.

  31. I love that couch!!! The closest WM to me is well over 2 hours away I totally wish there was one closer! The joys of growing up right girl? I get so excited when we accomplish a lot over the weekend when it comes to tackling home projects......priorities have definitely shifted!

  32. The church search is so hard! It's kind of exhausting so here's to hoping you'll find the perfect place for you ASAP. It'll be worth it in the end. Love the new sofa, light and kitchen paint colors. I am looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. Those fall leaves in Michigan are gorgeous!! Hope you have a great week.

  33. I love shopping at Home Goods! They have so many cute stuff there at reasonable prices!

    ReplyDelete
  34. That chair is amazing!! Bummer there wasn't a second one... Have you looked at World Market for chairs? They have similar looking ones (last time I was there, at least). And that apple drink sounds so yummy!!!

  35. Oh my gosh, what a busy weekend! Love that sofa and LOVE that light! I'm checking it out right NOW!

Good luck with the church home search, it always takes a lot of looking! :)

  43. Great weekend!! Your apple drink looks so good! Also loving your new couch! The same happened to us with our new chairs. We ended up going to Marshalls (since TX Maxx, Home Goods and Marshalls are the same company) and they had one there. I would check those stores too because that chair is GORGEOUS!!

  44. I'm not sure what an apple sparkler is, but it sounds delicious! Sounds like another great and productive weekend! I looove that couch, and the hanging light fixture is so cute! I can't wait to see the before and after of the kitchen- it sounds like a huge color change!

  45. OK when I move I'm going to fly you out to be my decorator because I LOVE your taste! Such great pieces, down to that light fixture! And I'm totally jealous of your fall leaves. Still pushing the 90s in LA :(
