Five on Friday 11/14

It's Friday and WINTER IS HERE.  That's right, we got our first accumulating snow and the 10 day forecast isn't calling for temps over 34 degrees.  I'm not winters biggest fan but I do enjoy it up until about January.  One of the most magical things in the world is waking up on Christmas morning to a winter wonderland.  Come January 2nd, I'm over it but until then it makes me happy happy happy!

I'm going to be mostly MIA today because my family is in town - such a great way to start the weekend!  Here's a few highlights from the last few days...

Chicken Taco Salad
We made the Pioneer Woman's chicken taco salad for dinner this week and oh my, yum.  I highly recommend for a really easy, somewhat healthy dinner!

Costco + New Boots
Our brand new Costco is open!!  I was practically giddy going there on Wednesday night.  We majorly stocked up but the best purchase was a new pair of Sorel winter boots.  It's funny because I was contemplating ordering them earlier that day online when I found them for almost half the price.  Costco for the win.

Favorite Nail Polish
I've literally been wearing Essie's After School Boy Blazer for two months now.  I just thought you all should know that it's my favorite and you should try it, too!

New Years Eve
It feels insane to be thinking about this already but I'm seriously considering planning a 48 hour getaway for Nick and I.  Something reasonably priced but somewhere warm... where we could fly in one morning and out the very next night.  This is the time in our lives to do this kind of thing so we should take advantage of it!  Any suggestions on (VERY WARM) fun New Years Eve destinations?

Thanksgiving Link Up
It's that time again!!  Our Thanksgiving link up will be next Tuesday, November 18th.  Share your favorite Thanksgiving recipe, tradition, table setting, outfit, decorations... whatever!  Can't wait to see what you all come up with! :)

Well, my dog is starting to white (again) so I should probably take him outside (again). Have a great weekend!

  5. Yayyy for half priced boots! I had no idea they sold Sorels at Costco.. great find!

As for NYE... I would say come here to FL but our weather can be nice and warm or abnormally cold and it's hard to know unless you're about a week out what it'll be Nov-Feb it's the luck of the draw. A friend came down from CT last January and the weekend before they got here it was in the 80's and we were at the beach, the weekend they were here it was in the 50's and COLD, of course the following weekend it was in the 80's again :-P

I would say your best bet would be an island.. the Bahamas, Punta Cana, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico are all quick flights from the U.S. where you could get away for a few days and expect warmth no matter what time of year. And honestly leaving the continental U.S. is always cheaper (hotels, flights, meals, etc... are all cheaper in the islands). Let me know if you need any advice!

    Happy Friday gurlie :)

  6. I love the photos of Brady in the snow - too cute! We have yet to get any accumulated snow around here, but I'm sure it will be a fun experience with Finn and his first encounter with snow. :) Great score on the boots! You always can count on Costco for those things. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice as to where you should go for a quick trip for New Years, but I look forward to living vicariously through you wherever you go! Have a great weekend! xo

  9. Love those snow boots girl and yay for getting a deal!! Winter definitely isn't my favorite season (except for the holidays) and we're definitely feeling the weather today here in Charlotte.. it's 36 out and I just have a sweater (that has holes in it haha). As far as NYE, you could do somewhere in Florida.. Miami perhaps?? I want to travel as well, but NYE is in the middle of the week.. hate that!

  16. It snowed here last night too. Can't believe winter is here so soon! My dog loves the snow and tortures me whenever we go out because he just wants to stay out and play. Not fun when it is 20 degrees outside! That taco salad looks yummy and I'm loving that nail color too. Have a fun weekend lady!

  20. I'm good with snow for about 1 day and that is all. But, it is different down here, becuase everyone FREAKS out when the snow comes and the whole town shuts down. I get major cabin fever. I love that nail polish color. Thanks for the rec! I feel like I always stick with the same boring colors. Maybe I will spice it up ;).

  21. I'm hitting up Costco this weekend-it's a 40 minute drive so I have to plan it out...can't wait! If you want to go somewhere really warm your best bet is Miami...you have to go to the furthest point in the US haha. Plus, it isn't as long as a plane trip as Cali would be and they are only an hour ahead. What a great idea!!

  22. Brady in the snow!! Oh my gosh. I hope he is in your Christmas Card! Also I love After school boys blazer too! Right now I am wear mink muffs, I think it's called. But essie

  24. oohhh i'd say go to Vegas, but it would probably be too expensive - maybe if you did a little getaway around then but not actually on NYE it would be cheaper. it sounds fun though! i love your new boots, and Brady is so adorable.

  25. That picture of your dog in the snow is so adorable. I love that Essie color and have gotten it before. :-) I'm looking forward to the Thanksgiving linkup! I'm hosting for the first ever and I have zero clue what I'm doing lol. Have a wonderful weekend with your family! :-)

  29. So we don't have snow yet... but I'm pretty sure that the temps are the same... and I'm not ready for it AT ALL... I've always, always, always wanted to do a NYE getaway... but my job makes it impossible... so do it and let me live vicariously through you, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee?

  30. Oh my goodness, can I have your puppy!? Happy first day of snow!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Stopping by from the link up. Your puppy is too cute! I live in northern Indiana, and I feel your pain on the winter front. It got so cold, so quick. I'm going to try and enjoy it, but I'll be ready for summer come New Year's Day.

  32. i haven't worn that polish yet this season--good encouragement to pull it out!

  33. Love those new boots! That salad looks amazing but everything from Pioneer Woman is amazing!

  34. I have a super unhealthy obsession with the Pioneer Woman. Like almost stalker level. Everything she does is amazing. I feel 100% the same way about snow. Once January hits it needs to GO!

  35. Brady is SO cute! I remember when my girl was still all fluffy and fuzzy like that! I share the same feelings about snow. I pretty much love it for the month of December and that's it! We don't have snow yet, but it is getting cold enough that I pulled my Sorel's out of storage today. I love yours!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Those boots! I was looking for a pair of Sorel and instead got a pair off Zulily and hate them! I can't even remember what brand they were because they were that bad! Ugh. But yours are great!

Love love love that you are going to be heading out of town for NYE! I prefer Scottsdale myself, although I prefer it more the weekend after NYE. I'm too lame to be fun on NYE anymore. Can't wait to find out where you decide to go!

And you and the pups are the cutest.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Omg your puppy is so fluffy and cute!! And those sorel boots were a steal! I had no idea Costco sold such legit clothes, I've only ever seen random sports apparel there. Oh and that taco salad looks sooo good. Putting it on my to make list for this week :)
