Five on Friday 11/7

Friday!!  Our first week with Brady has been a long one but also a successful one.  He's feeling MUCH more comfortable with us and his wild and crazy puppy side is coming out full force.  House training is going so-so... a work in progress, for sure.  We are starting to get a schedule/routine down now which is great for my OCD self and great for the blog because that majorly fell by the wayside this week.  But I'm here today so on to my five!

I'm probably the last person on Earth to get a blanket scarf buuuut if you're still looking for one, check out this one from Amazon.  I just got mine and it's a dead ringer for the infamous Zara scarf.  Great price, too.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING.  47 days, you guys!  I ordered our very first stockings ever this week and they are so.cute.  I went with these traditional ones from Pottery Barn.  I don't care what day they get here, they're immediately going up on the mantle.  Get them now if you're interested -- they're on sale and free monogramming through 11/11!

Another purchase that needs to be made for the impending winter is snow boots.  I got away without a pair of these for the last 4 years in Chicago but now that we have a driveway that needs to shoveled and a puppy that needs to go out eleventy billion times a day, I need some real boots.  Should I go with Sorels or LL Bean?  Anyone recommend one over the other?

This one is technically from last week but I just realized I never mentioned our Halloween.  We had a good night but sadly, not very many trick-or-treaters due to the SNOW. There are lots of kids in our neighborhood but the freezing temps kept them away.  We ended up watching Silence of the Lambs (creepy) on Netflix and eating tons of the leftover candy but that was about it.  A good first holiday in the new house!

Okay, and one last Brady highlight.  He had his first vet appointment this week and it's been confirmed that he's a healthy, happy boy.  It was a pretty entertaining experience - I wish I would have gotten a picture of him there but I just couldn't find the time in between him peeing on everyone, consuming about twenty treats and even launching himself off the exam table.  Good thing vets react quickly and saved Brady from face planting on the ground.  We did manage to get a (pretty terrible) picture on the way out, though.  My big baby!

We have a busy weekend ahead, hope you all have a great one!

  4. 47 days until Christmas...eeek.

I'm embarassed to share this, but we thought Saint was a boy for the first eight-ish weeks after we brought her home! I know it sounds ridiculous. The breeder insisted that she was a boy and we just never happened to look in her genital area, even when giving her a bath. The vet told us at her first appointment that she was a girl.

  10. 47 days?!?!?! Holy moly! I can't believe it's snowing up there already. I really wanted a pair of Sorels last year and regretted not buying them all winter. Enjoy that puppy, I would want to just to squeeze him and cuddle him all day!

  28. Okay, I have to be honest. That girl wearing the scarf on Amazon is SOOO creepy!! I don't want to buy it just because of her! hahaha

  34. Brady already looks so big! Look at all that fur - glad to hear the first week has gone pretty well! Hang in there with the potty training - he will get it eventually. I recommend using lots of training treats as a reward for whenever he goes to the bathroom outside. I'm pretty sure that's why Finn got the hang of it so quickly. Thanks for sharing the Amazon scarf - I'm looking it up right now. Happy Saturday, lady!

  35. Brady is so adorable. I remember when Pacey was a baby she loved going to the vet, she'd jump off everything and pee on everyone. Golden retrievers are just the best puppies! You're making me miss her so much! Love the stockings, we need to get some and I love a good sale! :)

  36. I'm actually the last person to get a blanket scarf cause I still don't have one :( And Brady is just the cutest!
