Christmas Vacation

Another Christmas in the books.  It's still hard to believe that it's already over!  I'm not sure if it was the weather - it's been an unseasonably warm December in Michigan - or the fact that we're still settling into our new home and it's all we think about, but it never really felt like Christmas this year.  Either way, we still had a great holiday and I hope you did, too!

Some of the highlights included watching Brady shred tissue paper like it was his job, my new Barefoot Dreams robe (it feels like being wrapped up in heaven), playing Cards Against Humanity with my family and visiting with my grandparents.  A couple of firsts happened as well: bowling after church on Christmas Eve has become a new family tradition and I held/shot a gun for the first time in my life!

There was also so. much. food.  Over the last 5 days, I've consumed my weight in Christmas cookies, chocolate pie (so many of you made this as well which made me SO happy!), sushi, ribs, deep dish pizza and a ham dinner to name a few.  Excuse me while I go on a run right now.

Although Christmas is over, our Christmas vacation still continues.  Nick doesn't have to go back to work until January 5th so pretty much everyday is Saturday to us right now!  I'm sorry for rubbing that in if you're currently at work ;) We've got big plans for the week including getting started on our built in bookshelves that we'll be DIY-ing in the living room and heading to Detroit with some friends for New Years Eve.  On the road again!

Enjoy your last Monday of 2014!

  7. So glad you guys enjoyed your first Christmas in your new home, and were able to start some new traditions. Right now, I am VERY glad that I have 2 weeks before my next OB check up. I will definitely be doing some salads and lighter fare until then because I am TERRIFIED of what that scale is going to show. Eeek! I love Christmas, but am glad it's over now food wise, because the calorie intake has been a bit out of control for a couple of weeks now, lol!!!

  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one that felt like Christmas never actually "arrived" this year. Oh well - probably because we have all things home on the brain! All your photos of Brady are too cute, and it looks like you had such a fun holiday! I sure hope you'll be sharing your experience with DIY built-ins - we are hoping to do the same thing soon, too! Is there a specific tutorial that you're following?

  11. What an adorable family picture, so cute! I agree, this Christmas felt very hustle bustle and warm, which is weird right? But it truly was amazing and wonderful and I had a fabulous one, indeed. Enjoy your Saturdays, I'm at work, but it's quiet so that's okay!

  35. So, I would like to state that I made that chocolate pie for Christmas desert. My Father in law, who is the PICKIEST eater EVER, LOVED it. But he could only squirrel one piece away from me- I pretty much ate the entire thing on my own throughout the past 4 days!
