The Hardest People To Shop For

...are guys, am I right?  All of the men in my life never seem to want or need anything so I'm usually coming up with something on my own and/or hanging on every word they say until they mention ANYTHING they're interested in. It's tough.

Nick and I have spent 8 Christmases/birthdays/anniversaries together now and here are some gifts I've given him that have gone over well.  I think most any guy would appreciate these ideas!

Daniel Wellington watches - a HUGE hit.  Nick has an exact dupe of this watch (it was a company gift to him) and wears it every single day to work.   We were actually watching Shark Tank last night and they said you can tell a lot about a guy based on if his shoes are shined and what watch he is wearing.  So make sure yours has a great watch! Don't forget to use the code 'holiday_sliceoflifechicago ' for 15% off - and make sure to order by December 17th in order to get it in time for Christmas!

Most guys are into exercise so a Fit Bit is a safe gift idea.  I found the best price here at Amazon - it comes in quite a few different colors and free shipping.

If your man gets dressed up every day for work, he would definitely appreciate a new tie!  This Burberry one is a classic.  A few go to places for mens ties are Nordstrom, Macy's, The Tie Bar ($15 ties and great quality, Nick has quite a few of them) and Ben Silver (based in Charleston).

I bought this exact North Face for Nick 5-ish years ago and he still wears it a few times a week.  It has held up so well and is perfect for any time of the year.  Totally worth the money!

Sports/concert/event tickets are always a fun gift - for the both of you.  I've done this quite a few times and it makes for great memories... which are more important than 'stuff' at the end of the day.

Cologne - another gift for the both of you ;)  Jean Paul Gaultier is Nick's favorite.

What's your go to guy gift?  I'm always looking for new ideas - after all, Valentines Day will be here before we know it!

  2. Tickets to a sporting event are a great idea...I usually keep a running list of things to buy for people during the year, but I have to say my BIL is the hardest...along with my dad LOL!

  4. Mark is impossible to buy for! We usually just end up doing trips for our birthdays :-) I do love a guy in a black NF zip up though. They look so cute in them! I kinda want to get him a fitbit just so I can secretly track his working out hahahha

  5. Guys are definitely the hardest to shop for. I've always found that Starbucks gift cards are great stocking stuffers, so are mini bottles of their favorite booze. Luckily Alan has some hobbies that I can use to my advantage: cookbooks and travel magazines are always a big hit.

  8. DUDES ARE SO HARD TO SHOP FOR, SERIOUSLY! The worst part is my husband sees something he likes and buys it. Doesn't tell me he wants/needs it, just buys it. Soooooo, yeah, tough!

  10. I agree guys are SO hard to buy for! Theo wants a new XBOX but it's $400 and he's 29 years old so that isn't happening. I ended up getting him the old faithful boxers and a new button down!

  11. You can never go wrong with sporting evens, that's for sure. And Ryan got that Burberry tie in blue and he really loves it. But yes.. so hard to shop for. I still have to get him one more thing. And for v-day, I think I may go with a man crate or make a man bouquet :)

  12. This is a great list, girl! Pretty sure Ryan would love anything on this list (and he may be getting a few things that you mentioned. :) ) He helped me pick out my DW watch, and now he loves them, too!

  13. Guys are definitely the hardest -- I was going to finish up Stephen's Christmas/Birthday (his birthday is the 27th...) with a golf club, and then his dad called and he's buying it for him so back to square one! I just have one little portion left to buy but that's always the hardest!

  15. Ugh I agree--guys are SO hard to shop for! I was really relieved when about 10 months ago there was a commercial for wireless headphones for the TV and J mentioned in passing "the next time you need to buy a gift, those would be good." He since doesn't remember saying that because he's totally stumped for what I got him--but seriously--perfect for him. I go to bed early and sound in our house carries!

  21. Guys for sure are the hardest, especially when they buy stuff for themselves whenever they want. Luckily this year I've heard a few things that I think he'll be surprised about and hopefully he likes.

  22. I completely agree guys are the hardest to buy for. I like the idea of tickets to a game that is something I forget when thinking about gifts.

  23. Guys are SO hard to buy for! I got Josh the FitBit a couple of years ago and he loved it as a gift!!

  24. Damn men are SO the hardest to shop for. Thus, both our dads are getting a juicer and both my brothers are getting a car mount for iPhones. It's way too hard to choose so many gifts for guys ha.

  25. We watch Shark Tank too and I remember that being said. My boyfriend is committed to not wearing a watch for whatever reason, but I'm sure if he had a nice one he would change his mind. He does love clothes though and that North Face jacket looks just like him. Great list!

  27. seriously guys are the worst.. well, i think the only one worse is KC's grandma. She is SO hard to shop for because neither of us know her very well. The tickets are a good idea for KC's brother, I'll keep that in mind for next year!

  30. This is such a GREAT list! I have the same problem...Robert never wants anything, so anytime during the year he mentions something I write it in my phone right away. The fit bit is a really fun idea, I definitely going to look more into that!

  31. Guys are the hardest to buy for! My husband isn't so hard to find something for, but my dad is. He is 83 years old (yes, I was a surprise/oopsie baby) and it he is so hard to buy for!

  32. My poor dad gets basketball tickets every year. He is, by far, the hardest person I buy for.
