Friday's Five 1/30

I kind of can't believe it's Friday already.  This week went so fast!  But I'm not complaining - bring on the weekend, bring on the Super Bowl (food), bring on February.  I am ready.

A few highlights from the week...

ONE | New Rug
Our new rug is here!  I finally pulled the trigger on this Jute Chenille Herringbone rug from West Elm and am in looove.  It's perfect in our fireplace room.  Brady boy is a big fan, too - so much so that he's now gated off from the rug because he shows his love by trying to tear it apart.  Sigh.

TWO | Donuts
Will someone make these and send them to me?  Please and thank you.  I think donuts are going to be on the agenda this weekend... but probably the take out kind, not the homemade kind because I've got a lot of Super Bowl cooking to do!

THREE | Dry Shampoo
I'm on the hunt for a new dry shampoo.  I've used Batiste for as long as I can remember and while I like it, I feel like it's almost stopped working for me.  And Lord knows I'm not going to start washing my hair more than once a week so help a girl out - what's your favorite brand?

FOUR | Parenthood
I can't believe it's over.  Last night was the series finale and it really did not disappoint - I think it was probably the most perfect series finale I've ever watched.   Lots and lots of ugly/happy/sad tears were shed.  Goodbye Braverman family.

FIVE | Link Love
So many of my favorite bloggers have had such great posts this week that I had to share a few!

A fabulous DIY bathroom makeover on Love and Bellinis // We made these 'Bangin Good Chicken Nuggets' (over zoodles instead) from Skinny Taste this week and they were so good // How to mix and match pillows on Sarah M. Dorsey Design // 4 apps for editing pictures on your iPhone from Milk Bubble Tea

Well, that's all I got for today - have a wonderful weekend and don't party too hard on Sunday night!

  3. That rug is perfection! I've been too nervous to pull the trigger on a new rug until our puppy is even less inclined to use the restroom inside...Someday!

  5. First, that rug is everything. I can't wait to see a picture of the whole living room, I bet it ties the whole room together perfectly!

I thought I was the only one that thought that my current brand of dry shampoo quit working after a couple of years (and I honestly thought I was a touch crazy for even thinking of it). I switched to Orbie’s Dry Texturizing Spray (which is super expensive I kind of puke when I purchase it) but it is for real the best ever. Plus, it smells amazing and a little goes a LONG way. I am going to pick up a bottle of Batiste next, just because I have heard good things. Prior to Orbie, I used Salon Grafix for Blonde's - which I would recommend too, plus, the price point is only around $8.00 (I got mine at Ulta) - Did you see my post today? Ulta has 20% off right now, you should pick some up ASAP. The code is in my post. :)

    Happy Friday!

  6. Ooooh homemade donuts sound like a fantastic idea! As far as dry shampoo, I've been loving DryBar's Triple Sec dry shampoo from Sephora. It's a little pricier than the drug store brands, but totally worth it.

    Happy Friday gurlie <3

  7. The new rug is PERFECT! Great choice, sweet girl! I bet it makes a world of difference in your house too. Let's just hope sweet little Brady doesn't decide to chew on it at any point (my dog went through a rug chewing phase when she was a puppy - ugh!) I haven't seen the Parenthood finale, so thank you for not spoiling it for me. Will be watching it soon! Have a great weekend!:)

  8. The rug is gorgeous! Hopefully he grows out of this stage fast and soon :) Enjoy those amazing tots for me this weekend please!!!

  9. I love the new rug! We made the bangin good chicken nuggets last week and my husband still can't stop talking about how good it was! haha I hope you guys have a good weekend!

  10. Love your new rug and it sounds like Brady does too! Puppies are so funny - seems like they need round the clock care :) Hope you find some yummy donuts and that your Super Bowl party is a big success. My favorite dry shampoo is Suave - it's $3, leaves no residue on darker hair and works really well http://www.acareotc.com/suave-professionals-dry-shampoo-spray-5-oz.html?gclid=CMHExsb0u8MCFSxk7Aod7lsARA

  11. I promise Brady will grow out of the rug-chewing phase ... two of the corners on our old area rug got destroyed when Finn was a puppy, but eventually he lost interest. Have you heard of Garrick's Bitter Apple Spray? You can find it at any pet store and even Target I believe - that stuff is amazing! It's not harmful to the dog, but they don't like the smell, so if you spray it on something enough, eventually they associate the bad smell with that spot. Just a suggestion. Also, you know Suave is my holy grail of all dry shampoos - plus, it's like $2. You can't go wrong. Have a great weekend!

  12. Love your new rug!! That picture of Brady on the rug is adorable too. Those donuts look delicious too and I'm not a big donut person. I love the mix and match pillows too. I hope that you have a great weekend!! :-)

  13. I agree, the Parenthood finale was perfect! Have a wonderful Super Bowl weekend Katie!

  14. LOVE the rug! Good choice! I've seen through season 5 of Parenthood so I'm trying to find a way to watch season 6. My favorite cheap dry shampoo is the Dove one and not-so-cheap one is Big Sexy Hair's :) Have a good weekend, Katie!

  15. Girl, we must have been on the same wave length or something because I talked about dry shampoo and Parenthood too. I really like the Dove dry shampoo. It's a close second to the Batiste. While I loved the finale, I secretly hoped it would end with Zeke still alive. I always want a happy ending even though they did a great job ending the series.

  16. BRADY...love that pup. If you get someone to make those cake donuts for ya...send them my way!

  17. I've been wanting to try homemade donuts recently too!

  18. Love that rug, I think you made a great decision! I second the other comments about the bitter apple spray... Ruby chewed on plastic trim in one of our apartments and she wouldn't touch it after we sprayed it with that stuff! Crazy pups!

  19. Brady is SO stinking adorable! I also love your new rug. Dogs and rugs usually don't mix. I know ours is almost impossible to keep clean. Enjoy your weekend and send me those donuts :-P

  20. Love love love the rug! I have used the bitter apple spray with our dogs but also, we have tried just a plain spray bottle with water and anytime they would start to do something or chew something, we would spray them once or twice and they quickly learned!
    Good luck!

  21. Love the rug! But bummer that Brady tries to tear it up! Mine likes to chew on ours too. It's the weirdest thing. Not on the edge or anything, just the top. Ugh. Crazy dogs. I'll take a few of those donuts. :) And I'm no help on dry shampoo. It does not get along with my hair, so I've given up! Have a good weekend!!

  22. I'm soo mad that Parenthood is over - it was one of the quality shows that is out here. However I do like how the ended it on a high note so to speak.

  23. I use Batiste right now and it works great, I hope my hair doesn't become immune to it. Before I was using Suave's dry shampoo and really liked it, maybe you can try to see if that one works for ya? I have so much catching up to do with the Braverman family, I'm hoping to binge watch a couple seasons this weekend! That rug is gorgeous too!!

  24. I think I am the only person who didn't watch Parenthood - but that can change with Netflix :)
I was all yelling & jumping in my room watching Scandal :)

  25. Yum, donuts are definitely my ultimate guilty pleasure. I need to pin that recipe. We actually JUST started watching Parenthood, so I quickly scrolled past that one in case of spoilers (not that it's a crazy action show, but still haha), and I am going to be so sad when we finally get to the end!

  26. Love the rug you picked out and those chicken nuggets look awesome! Happy Friday lady!!

  27. I love the new rug! I hope Brady doesn't tear it up too much. I caught Ava chewing on our blanket last night. She would lay her head down when I looked at her because she was trying to hide it. Good Lord!! I am so with you on the cake donuts. They look fabulous! Have a great weekend and good luck hosting your super bowl party!

  30. Fantastic rug pick! I love pictures of animals taken from above; they look so darn innocent haha. Boo to Batiste not working for you anymore! Can't wait to see all the good foods you whip up! Happy weekend!

  32. Love that rug and the guilty boy in the middle of it ;-) Thanks for the links girl checking them out right now. Redken makes the best dry shampoo but it's not cheap. Seriously it makes you look like you have clean hair again. I also picked up the Not Your Mother's one from Target and that was a good close second.

  33. Those bangin' chicken nuggets looks so good! And those donuts, YUMMMM!

  34. Batiste never worked for me! I found that I needed the dry shampoo powder for it to actually make a difference on my hair. Oscar Blandi is my favorite & it smells like lemons :)

  35. Oh my goodness, those donuts look amazing! i must give them a try! have a great weekend!!

  36. LOVE the rug, and the dog both are cute.

I'm currently using Batiste but a dry shampoo I tried when I worked at Ulta a hot minute ago was Bed Head Rockstar. Pretty sure that's the name, it's in a black bottle with a lime green top and it smells ah-mazing. It's more expensive than Batiste but it's awesome stuff! Hope you have a great weekend!
