Look for Less: Home Decor

One thing I've realized with the new house is that buying furniture is expensive.  Like, very expensive - especially if we're talking about furnishing an entire house as we're doing!  It's been important to me to splurge on certain things (like rugs and bedding) but this means that I need to save in other places.  I love a good deal so it's been fun envisioning what I like via Pinterest or other blogs and then hunting down those same pieces in my price range.

Here are three 'looks for less' - although none of them are too expensive if you do feel like making the splurge ;)

West Elm Box Frame Coffee Table vs Target Threshold Mixed Metal Coffee Table

Lenox Imperial Caviar 5 Place Setting vs Target Threshold 5 Piece Izon Flatware Set

Jonathan Adler Letter Pillow vs Comfy Heaven Monogram Alphabet Pillow

  1. Great options, it does pay off taking an extra look around to see if one finds something similar for a better price (I can be way too impulsive when it comes to home decor, I suppose!)

  3. I'm amazed at how the first two basically look identical to one another!!! I say go for the save on the table for sure - you seriously can't tell the difference! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston

  11. I love this kind of stuff!! I never have enough patience to ever search down items though so my house remains undecorated. Sigh. Haha

  12. Girl, I'm with you - why does furniture have to be so pricey?! Luckily, our upstairs is pretty much already furnished, but we have some work to do downstairs. One piece at a time, I suppose! I'm definitely saving this post for later - I've had my eye on that Target coffee table.

  14. Fun post!! We have a coffee just like that except the wood is a lot darker. :-) Our flatware/silverware just stuff that Chris had before we got married. I say splurge on the stuff that is really important to you guys. :-)

  16. You really can't tell the difference in all three of the picks, so I would always chose to save, save, save!

  17. Since you posted about the West Elm rug I've been browsing the website every so often (aka every other day, haha), and I've been lusting over a few of their pieces even though we're not buying any new furniture anytime soon. These are all such good comparisons, you really can't tell much of a difference at all!

  19. I really wanted the West Elm table and basically lost it when I saw the Target one, which I got. It's been almost a year and it is holding up fine and looks exactly the same! Such an awesome steal!

  24. Definitely some things are worth the wait! Try not to do the whole house at once, that 's what I love about homes. They have stuff gradually added over time!

  26. I love the gold silverware :) It defiantly pays off to save in certain areas and splurge in others. Sometimes if you take the time to look around you can find very similar things for cheap :) Happy Friday.. Can't wait to see what you pick
