Positivity Project

Organization, a new blog design and today, the Positivity Project.  2015 is off to a very good start over here!

What is the Positivity Project?  Basically, it's all about not being so hard on ourselves as women.  I know we're all our own worst critic but we don't have to be!  Let's spend this new year being kinder to not only our significant others, friends, family but also to ourselves.  Because we are awesome and we deserve it!

Thanks to Amanda from Meet @ the Barre for this amazing idea and Karly at Miss in the Midwest for the most sincere, sweet compliment.  Now, on to the questions!

1. Tell me something you love about yourself.
Since everyone else is going with physical features, I'm going to say my eyes.  I have long, dark lashes and often get asked whether or not I'm wearing falsies.  Which is a no only because I'm terrified of putting them on myself (tips welcome)... instead it's all thanks to my trusty They're Real!  Best mascara ever.  Also, I swear my eye color changes each day.  Sometimes they're brown, hazel or almost a yellow color.  Ps. it's hard to find a good picture of your eyes ;)

2. Tell me what you want to work on.
Not putting so much pressure on myself/chilling out a little bit.  I like things done my way, when I want them done - sometimes it's hard for me to just sit back and let life happen instead of trying to control every last detail.  I can work myself up and make a huge deal over things that really don't need to be... which is dumb because it really doesn't help me and actually makes things worse.

3. Give someone a compliment, and mean it.
Kristina - first of all, I'm so glad we are blogging friends!  And second, you should be really proud of yourself.  You are juggling so much right now and doing it all so well!  From school to work to planning a wedding to running your blog - tell us your secrets ;) If you've never visited Medicine & Manicures before, I highly suggest you make your way over there next!  Some of my favorite recent posts include one of the best engagement stories ever, a white chocolate oreo ball recipe (oh yeah) and winter outfit inspiration.

4. Tell me something you are proud of, succeeded in, or are just generally pumped about.
One recent thing I'm really proud about is the work I've been doing on our house.  We just moved in 4 months ago and we've been going almost nonstop since!  I don't consider myself super talented or anything when it comes to interior design but things are coming along REALLY well.  I promise more updates are coming soon!  I'm also really proud that we've done a lot to the house and haven't touched our savings.  Before we moved, we decided on a certain amount that we would set aside for furniture/projects and we haven't had to dip into that at all.  We may in the future but I'm happy that we've been able to do this all out of our own pockets so far!

I'd love it if any of you want to jump in on the Positivity Project, too!  Happy posts are my favorite posts to read.
Enjoy your Wednesday!

  5. I know exactly what you mean about the pressure and controlling every last detail! I will say I've gotten better about that lately (as a default because pregnancy makes me too tired to care as much.. haha) but its a good feeling most of the time. Love your kitchen and can't wait to see more updates! :)

  18. What a fabulous post and idea! I love the blogging world because of all the support, encouragement and advice all of us ladies give each other. You definitely have beautiful eyes! I totally agree about we are our biggest critic and love your perspective on not being so hard on ourselves. Great advice! I love reading Kristina's posts too! I am not sure how she balances everything either. She is one talented lady and so are you!

  21. Yeah!!!! This post makes me insanely happy!!! Wasn't it interesting/challenging to write? It's crazy but essentially blogging is about ourselves but then to sit down and talk about "ourself" in a positive way didn't come super easy to me. That is a HUGE accomplishment not having to dip into that money and just making it work with the daily expenses! Your kitchen looks fabulous. Definitely going to be hitting you up for paint names and swatches down the line ;-)
