Weekend Snaps

We had big plans for this weekend.  Friday we were going to have dinner at our favorite pizza spot in town and see American Sniper and on Saturday we were going to go skiing.  Well... you know what they say about the best laid plans.  They never work out.  And that's exactly what happened this weekend!

On Friday, we got to our pizza spot only to find out they had a long wait which meant we wouldn't make our movie in time - strike one.  We headed to another nearby diner to grab a quick bite to eat which was still good but just not quite the pizza we were craving.

Afterwards, we made our way over to the movie theater... and American Sniper was sold out.  We tried another theater and same thing - strike two.  At this point we figured the night just wasn't meant to be and headed home to have a fire and watch Dexter.  At least Brady appreciated this alternate plan ;)

Saturday morning, we woke to a warm-front of 40 degrees.  Sad that that is considered warm here in January!  While the change in weather was definitely appreciated, it did not make for good skiing conditions so that was out - strike three.

Needing something to do instead, we got to work on our never-ending house to do list.  I painted our master bathroom and Nick took off all of our brass doorknobs and spray painted them (following this tutorial).  Everything looks so good and the day ended up being quite productive!  Later, we decided to give our date night a second try and succeeded this time.  The pizza was worth the wait and American Sniper was amazing.  Sort of hard to watch with knowing whats coming but very well done.

And then yesterday, things totally went downhill.  The highlight was having McDonalds for breakfast but soon after, Nick came down with the flu and the rest of the day was spent quarantined in our separate living rooms.  Strike four, I suppose.

Here's hoping your weekend was a bit better (and healthier) than our weekend!

  7. Ugh, I hate when plans change when they were so fun to begin with! We saw American Sniper last night, and it was sooo good. I hope you see it soon (Dexter and a fire aren't bad plans either, though!)

  9. Aw, the flu?!? No fun! Hope Nick feels better... and glad y'all liked the movie! I didn't know the ending and I thought it was a little abrupt, but Bradley Cooper did a great job! xo

  10. Oh no! Hope Nick feels better soon - nothing worse than coming down with the flu out of nowhere. I've heard nothing but good things about American Sniper from those who saw it this weekend (we opted for Into the Woods instead), so I'm anxious to see it. I can't wait to see what color you painted your bathroom!

  12. Poor Nick! Hope he's feeling better soon - and hope you don't pick that up from him! Ugh! We just got over being sick in our house, and I'm hoping it's a long time before any of us feel that poorly again:( Glad you got to end up seeing the movie after all. I def want to see it, but am like you, and hate that I know how sad it ends. So sad. He was a true hero - not a perfect man by any means - but definitely an American hero.

  13. Oh no! We had a pizza disappointment this weekend too, but we made up for it yesterday! Sounds like you were productive at least! My boyfriend is finally getting better after his cold/flu and I think I'm in the clear now! Hopefully you don't come down with it. I want to see American Sniper too, but I think I'm going to wait until it quiets down a bit!

  18. So sorry that your husband got the flu!! :-( I hope that he feels better soon. Normally I don't like to encourage staying away from your spouse, but in this case, stay away from your husband!! I would like to see American Sniper too, along with some of the other Oscar movies. We'll see. I hope that you have a good day today!!

  22. So glad you guys were able to finally get your pizza fix and see the movie, I've heard nothing but great things about it. But boooo to Nick getting sick. Is it the flu-flu or one of those 24 hour stomach flus? Either way they're both awful and hope he gets better soon and you stay in the clear ;-)

  23. I am sorry your weekend didn't go exactly how you plan, but I think it is great you crossed things of your house to-do list. That is always a good feeling! That pizza looks amazing and I have heard American Sniper is awesome. Love the pictures of Brady! I hope Nick feels better soon!

  24. I want to see American Sniper as well! I can only imagine it's packed -- our movie times were just too late this weekend for me to make it through a movie. Hope Nick gets to feeling better. And the pups definitely love canceled plans, for sure!

  25. Aww I'm sorry it was weekend of strike outs. I am glad you ended up getting your date night though! I can't wait to see how the doorknobs turned out! I bought the spray paint to do that and haven't tried yet!

  26. OH NO!!! Stay in separate rooms. I always tell my hubby if he gets the flu, I love him, but I want him on the opposite side of the house & don't come near me unless he's masked... you gotta do what you gotta do.
Hope he gets over it quick & you come out healthy!
