10 Best: IKEA Hacks

Before Pinterest, I was never a huge fan of IKEA.  I owned a few of their products in college and while they did the job, they weren't always the "prettiest" in my opinion.  IKEA is more about minimalism and clean lines... which I have learned now, makes for a great starting point in DIY projects!  IKEA hacks are all over the place right now and I've got my eye on quite a few of them.

Here's a round up of a few of my favorites that I can't wait to try...

The Vittsjo TV unit becomes an end of the bed bench by Dwellings By DeVore

I consider myself pretty 'DIY challenged' but I think I could handle these, especially with the clear directions provided in the tutorials.  Have you ever tried any IKEA hacks?

  2. Oh my! I love that first hack with the tall Vittsjo shelving unit. It looks like it would cost a fortune, but it's a fraction of the price. Thanks for sharing these, Lee and I are still getting our flat together and buying furniture so I'll definitely be taking on some of these hacks!!

    Happy Thursday!!

  7. Love these ideas, it's IKEA-chic :)

I've always loved a trip to IKEA, but always feel like I'm "over" whatever we've bought after only a few short months because of how plain/college dorm looking a lot of their furniture is. But, I've learned that you can find more adult-homey looking pieces, and I love these DIY projects to transform some of their stuff even more!

  11. A good amount of stuff in my first apartment(s) was from IKEA, but I never much liked it because it always looked "IKEA" (aka cheap). But with just a little work, it can look good - per your pics! I really love these hacks.

  18. LOVE this post! I'm all about Ikea DIY hacks - I spray painted one of our accent tables from there, and it turned out great. I have the VITTSJO shelf in our bedroom right now, and I'm not sure if I'm sold on it being in there - if it moves down into our family room or living room, I'm definitely going to jazz it up with that first tutorial. Great round up!

  30. My favorite has to be the Harry Chair with the sharpie but all of these are great! I would say, yes, I am diy challenged. But when I put my mind to it, I go all in. I've decided that I will brew beer. It appears complicated but I have directions. If you'd like to say hi, please email me at estherdavison@gmail.com. My blogger account is "no-reply" :(. 39. I redid a Vittsjo coffee table for my sunroom. I also, used the square edge piece (that you can next together) as a side table in the same room, rather than as one coffee table!
