5 Girly Shows To Watch On Netflix

Ahh, Netflix.  What would I do without you?  We are huge fans over here and use our subscription more days than not.  Especially in the winter when there isn't much to do other than hibernate at home.

This past summer, I shared my five favorite shows to binge watch on Netflix and today I'm sharing my five favorite girly shows to watch.  You know, those ones that you only watch by yourself, when your husband is out with his friends, at hockey/the gym or asleep.  Guilty pleasure shows, if you will.

In no particular order...

ONE | Desperate Housewives
The first show I ever binge watched!  These ladies are crazy but you can't help rooting them on and loving them anyway.

TWO | Gilmore Girls
I can be having a bad/off day but watching Lorlei and Rory together just makes me feel better, anyone else?  I'm in the middle of re-watching this one right now and it's as good as it was in middle school.

THREE | Army Wives
This was a total Netflix find - I had never heard of the Lifetime show before and it was so, so, so good.  After one episode I was totally hooked and loved the sneak peak (although I'm sure not at all realistic) into army life.

FOUR | Gossip Girl
The only show that I haven't watched yet but I did read the books a few years ago.  It's next on my 'to watch' list!

FIVE | Friends
I mean, the ultimate show.  The guys may like to watch this one as well but they don't have the same appreciation for our six best friends as us ladies do.  I could watch this show every single day and never get sick of it.

And speaking of TV, did anyone watch the Bachelor last night?  Kelsey is NUTS, she is like Gone Girl crazy.  I am embarrassed that she is from Michigan... #psycho

  7. I recently started re-watching Gossip Girl, and I'm totally hooked again. It was the perfect anecdote to The O.C. being taken from us way too soon :-P

  11. Haven't watched last nights episode (no cable) but will def catch up in the next few days. She did strike me as a little oddball. Oh and the "virgin"... I don't buy it at all!

  12. Great picks! Gilmore Girls and Friends are my two FAVORITE shows. They instantly put you in a good mood. I wasnt to start watching Gossip Girls too, I heard that's good - I've never seen it!

  13. I have yet to watch Gossip Girl too, but I do plan on checking it out soon!

  14. I love every last one of these shows!! I've seen FRIENDS all the way through at least 50 times (I have the box sets) and watch it every night when I'm going to sleep. Because of that, it's a show I can have on while I'm working (I work from home--a verrrrrrrry quiet home..ha) so it's nice to have some chatter!! I haven't finished the Army Wives series, but I binge watched several seasons in 2013!

  16. Gilmore Girls is a classic. I also love watching Seinfeld, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. I will have to check out the others you recommended. My hubby and I binge watched Prison Break and Lost. I'm currently binge watching Fixer Upper because those two are a hoot and their designs are spot on!!

  18. Bahaha #gonegirlcrazy is amazing and an accurate description! Gossip Girl is a series that I watch over and over on Netflix! I am SO happy that Gilmore Girls is on there!!!

  19. I'm going to file this under "shows to watch when Chris isn't around.." haha. I watched a little bit of the Bachelor last week and I had to change the channel after 15 minutes. The girls just seem either crazy or clueless.

  20. Love this list! I loved army wives! and I have tried watching gossip girl but forgot about it, maybe I will give it another try. I just binge watched "call the midwife" and "bomb girls", they were so good and definitely something to add to the list to watch when the hubby's not around.

  21. Such great suggestions! Gilmore Girls is always a favorite!

  22. Um yeah, what was with the Bachelor last night?! That Kelsey girl is a freak, and the Kardashian-wannabe has got to go. Sheesh. Anyways! Looks like Army Wives needs to be a new Netflix binge for me. You will love Gossip Girl - the story line is so stupid, but it's fun to watch for all the fashion. Gilmore Girls is one of my all-time favorite TV shows because my mom and I seriously are just like the two of them - we even got to visit the set at the Warner Bros. Studio right after the last season before they replaced it with something else! (Fun fact: Pretty Little Liars is shot on the same set, and a lot of the same buildings are still in place aka Miss Mitzy's Dance Studio. :) )

  23. OH MY GOSH - The Bachelor... I hate it because at the beginning, I really liked Kelsey - she seemed normal. How wrong that first portrayal of her was. I think most of the girls are a little coo-coo this year. That one virgin girl? We get it - you're a virgin - shut up. I love Whitney. Seems to be the only sane one... & the girl who hasn't kissed him yet.

I'm so glad I just found Gilmore girls... I LOVE it...
I need to check out the others. I used to watch Desperate Housewives but bailed somewhere in the middle

  24. I'm re-watching Gilmore Girls right now and it's totally still just as good. My boyfriend actually really likes it too haha so I can't watch it without him. I haven't started re-watching Friends yet, but I'm looking forward to it. My boyfriend actually has all the box sets haha I totally scored in the boyfriend category. We basically love all the same shows. I really want to see if Army Wives is on the Canadian version now! I'm watching The Bachelor tonight and I heard the girls were especially crazy this week, so I'm looking forward to it!

  25. So, I've completed 3 out of the 5 of those! Except for the last season of Gossip Girl, since it wasn't out when I binge watched it the first time around! I really need to go back and watch! -Dorrie @ Bear Den Plantation

  28. I've watched my fair share of all of these shows. Good choices!

  29. I went to high school with Samantha, she was so sweet! She was in my grade too (how weird does that sound to say at the age of 27). I wish she got more screen time. I'm sure she's getting the boot soon because she and Chris haven't bonded at all, i'll miss seeing her on there! Yeah Kelsey is NUTSO. I CANNOT wait until next Monday!

  30. I started watching Gossip Girl and got a few seasons in and never finished it. That's the only time I've never finished a series, though. Not sure what it was about it but it just didn't keep my attention. On the other hand, Army Wives was my first binge watch and good Lord, I cried so much! Cory actually told me he was worried about me because I was crying too much while watching it.

  31. Love this list! You NEED to watch Gossip Girl. LOVE IT SO MUCH! :)

  32. Desperate Housewives and Friends for the GIRLY win! ;)

  33. All great shows! Truth be told, though, I know many men that enjoy the witty banter of Gilmore Girls and find Friends humorous! No die-hard fans or anything, but they find them enjoyable all the same!

  34. Great picks! I binged watched Gilmore Girls like it was my j.o.b. and husband and I are watching Friends (nevermind that I own the entire series, lol). I used to love Desperate Housewives, and may need to re-watch it!

  35. This is perfect timing!! John and I just cancelled our cable, so I plan to start a new netflix series.. I think I'll check out Army Wives!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love all of these shows except I haven't watched army wives... now I know what my new binge watching show will be ;) Thanks!

  37. First, Kelsey is definitely a whacko. The way she was talking about "her story" was so creepy, it sent chills down my spine.

Secondly, these shows are all good pics. I still watch Friends to this day - fall asleep to it almost every night. And Gilmore Girls? YES! The epitome of a girl show. Wish they would bring something like that back to tv!!! Thank God for Netflix:)

  38. I've been watching my way through Friends and I love it! There's nothing better than a cozy blanket, hot chocolate and Friends!

  40. Is it funny that my husband likes 2 of 5 of those possibly more than I do? If Lorelai was real and they met, he would totally leave me for her... and we like the suspense of Gossip Girl :)

  41. I'm watching Gilmore Girls now, and I love it!! Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are the perfect pair.

  42. Gilmore Girls is one of my all time favorites! Whenever I find the time (in the long future) I want to re watch the whole series! Did you ever watch Everwood? Not sure if it's on Netflix or not, but another one of my favorite shows ever!

  43. Gossip Girl is my favorite! I am watching it all the way through for the 4th time now! I also am obsessed with Friends as well! You should watch 90210, it's on Netflix!

  44. OMG YES thank you. Kelsey is sooo crazy. If you're embarrassed about her being from Michigan, I am also embarrassed since she lives in Austin. I am convinced that her "tragic" story is either fake or that she poisoned/killed her husband! I've watch one too many episodes of Snapped and she fits the bill!!!

  45. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES!!! Totally a guilty pleasure of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love all these shows! And I recorded The Bachelor and watched half of it this morning while getting ready! I am so ready to see what happened to her! All I saw was the preview of her on the ground!

  52. I love to binge watch Netflix. Now that Friends is on there, my life is complete. I also watch Gossip Girl over and over like a crazy, and I am not ashamed. I really need to re-watch Gilmore Girls! I watched it when it was on air for the first few seasons. Love that show!
