Weekending

This weekend... I didn't take a single picture.  And you know what?  It felt good.  Sometimes it gets exhausting trying to document every little detail for the blog.  I mean don't get me wrong, I love this little space and have fun doing it but sometimes you just need a weekend off.  And that's exactly what this one was for me!

Nick was out of town for his annual pond hockey tournament so I decided to spend the weekend with my family.  The weather was starting to get crazy just as Brady and I arrived on Friday afternoon.  They weren't joking with the 'winter storm warning' because we had temperatures under zero degrees and white out snow conditions for pretty much the entire three days.

We stayed close to home on Friday night and Brady did what he does best apparently - swallowed another sock.  I was freaking out because the closest animal hospital open that late was over 25 miles away, which would have easily taken over an hour in the terrible weather.  Instead, the vet told us we could feed him hydrogen peroxide to make him throw the sock up and it worked!  I don't think so many people have ever cheered when a dog vomited before but we were so thankful we didn't have to make that drive in the weather.  And I was thankful to not have to spend another $150 on a sock.

The rest of the weekend was super low key, hiding out at home mostly.  We watched The Interview and I tried to get my family hooked on Breaking Bad.  We did get out for breakfast both mornings and attempted to take Brady for a walk downtown but the weather was so bad that we lasted about 8 minutes before we were back in the car and heading through the coffee drive-thru.

Though it was nice to spend the time with my family and get in some good R&R, I'm happy to be home with my Valentine.  Hope your weekend was a bit warmer and that Monday isn't treating you too bad!

  3. I'm all for a nice relaxing weekend with no pictures! Although I guess Brady kinda ruined it being completely relaxed. That crazy dog! :) Glad you were able to get the sock out without a trip to the vet! Hope he grows out of that phase soon!

  4. I didn't take a single picture this weekend either. Sometimes you just gotta live in the moment instead of trying to capture it! Pixie used to eat our socks too and the only way we knew about it was when it came out in her poop! Now she sticks to paper and books, and she's 4 by the way!! Not a puppy anymore!

  5. That Brady boy really loves socks doesn't he? Who knew they were so tasty, sheesh! Really though, I'm glad he is ok and you didn't have to go to the hospital to get it out!

  6. Sometimes the no picture weekends are the best! Sorry that Brady ate another sock- at least the hydrogen peroxide worked. When our dog was a puppy we had a ton of bully sticks- they're for chewing on hand so that she wouldn't chew our stuff. She still chewed and ate plenty of our stuff but the bully sticks really helped!

  7. I think what you thought about pics just about every Sunday, when I'm wrapping up my Monday post. Oops! Sorry you're in the part of the country with the really icky weather. My sister moved to Boston this weekend! Ha, bummer for her. Hang in there! And come to sunny Dallas when you want some heat and sun :)

  15. I'm glad you were snowed in with your family :) It's so hard to believe there is crazy winter weather in parts of the country when we are now living in 80 degrees! Crazy!
Yikes about the sock!! So glad he threw it up, that is scary! Especially over the idea of having to drive to the vet in that storm!

  18. That kid and his socks!?!?! What the heck gives!? I can just picture you all standing around praying he vomits. I'm sorry y'all went through that again, but I'm grateful that it was something you were able to take care of on your own. And it's good information, apparently, to have since this might be a habit of his? hah

  28. This winter weather is no joke! It has been pretty bad here, but we had to laugh because my mom was visiting and checking the weather at home for her, and it was literally -10! Made us feel a little bit thankful for the 12 degrees we were experiencing! So glad Brady was able to get the sock up without having to get to the vet- hopefully no more socks for him anytime soon!

  31. I'm with you, lady! I went through my phone this morning to see what types of photos I would have for my post and I had like one. Whoops. It was fun to just enjoy the weekend and not keep asking, "Wait, can I take a picture of that?" :)

  32. Glad your dogs OK! What did you think of the Interview? I actually found myself laughing hysterically at some points, but other than that it was ridiculous!
