When Your Husband Is Out Of Town

I'm mixing things up today from my usual Friday five since this week was kind of a boring one.  Nick travels for work occasionally and has been gone for the past 4 days, just leaving me with my boy Brady.  I used to really dread him being away (still do a little bit) but I've also come to realize alone time comes with a few perks.  Here are my favorite five ways to entertain myself while he's out of town...

ONE | Eat Whatever
My extent of "cooking" this week was baking tater tots and making grilled cheese.  Other than that, it was all take out!  Mostly sushi since I'm obsessed with it and he's not crazy about it so we don't eat it often.

TWO | Schedule Fun Activities
Hanging out at home can be sort of boring by yourself so make sure to schedule fun things to get out and about.  I got my first facial on Wednesday and it was the perfect way to treat myself!

THREE | Take Over The Bed
I think I slept practically sideways in our bed every night and it was glorious.

FOUR | Comfy Clothes
Now this doesn't work as well if you have to go to work but since I am at home, I pretty much just rotated through my sweatshirt and leggings collection this entire week.  It's probably been the comfiest week of my life.

FIVE | TV Hog
Watch three hours of The Bachelor and all the Bravo TV you want and it's no big deal.  Although I did miss Nick's commentary to my 'girl shows' it was nice to not have to flip over to check out the score of the hockey game ;)

He's home now and although I'm back to cooking, cleaning, sleeping on my side of the bed, getting properly dressed and watching Fox News, I wouldn't have it any other way.  Happy Friday!

  4. This is such an awesome post - you and I definitely have the same ideas when our husbands are away! Because of Ryan's weird work schedule, I've had to learn to get creative and keep myself occupied without him a majority of the time. It's not always easy, but I do enjoy quite a few things that you listed above from time to time!

  5. haha this post cracks me up! This is definitely me a lot of the time since Michael travels a lot. Cereal for dinner? Why not. Oh and the sleep! Glorious uninterrupted sleep with plenty of leg space! :) It does have its perks!

  6. Haha I love these and it's so true. I feel the same way when my husband works (he's a fireman so he's there for 24 hrs) it's glorious. It used to be better before the kids lol, but still kind of fun to do whatever you want!

  7. My husband spent this week in depositions, but it was definitely the best excuse to sneak away and get some things done. Why didn't I think of the facial idea though?! lol

  9. Great list! I always plan dinners that my hubby doesn't enjoy while he's away - usually lots of meals of mac & cheese :) I also stay up late catching up on DVR'd material and try to squeeze in a few easy DIY projects. I don't love be alone at night so I'm always excited to be reunited after a few days of him being away. Hope you have a great weekend!

  17. I have to agree, taking over the bed takes the cake!! Of course I love having someone to cuddle with, but it's also nice to stretch out. (Which is why I like living at 2 places so much!!) Enjoy your Friday!! xo

  19. Ha! That's totally what my week would be like if my hubby were out of town. He comments on my girly shows too. Though mine would be jealous of me having grilled cheese and tater tots without him :-p

  30. Fox News...too funny! Sometimes Cory will fall asleep on the couch and I'll sneak off to bed just so I can have the whole bed for one night! The middle is much more comfy!
