Guest Room Essentials

Our apartment in Chicago was a revolving door to guests.  It seemed like once a month we had friends or family coming into town and we loved it!  Unfortunately, our "guest room" at the time was more of an office/Nick's closet/storage room so it's been really nice to have a proper bedroom devoted to our visitors in the new house.  Over the past four years of hosting, I've come to learn what are essentials for a guest room and what aren't.  Here are a few things I would recommend keeping around to make your guests feel welcome and comfortable in your home.

Pictured above: Floral arrangement // Mirror // Chair // Bedding // Coffee mugs //
Reading material // Bedside lamps (save) // Candle // Faux fur blankets (on sale!)

What would you consider a guest room 'must have'?  Happy Tuesday!

  1. Love your choices, especially that beautiful armchair. I think it's so important to have a chair in the guestroom, so cozy and inviting. It's perfect timing for this post because Lee and I are starting to decorate our guestroom, we have our first guests next weekend!!

  5. I'll come stay in your guest room anytime, lady! I love how soft and pretty everything is and those lamps are amazing! A must for me is having towels laid out, so we know which ones to use if there isn't a bathroom right in the room. I hate asking or scrounging.

  10. Love this collage! Can I come stay in your guest room? (when it warms up of course lol)

I also bring home all those free little toiletries from hotels when we go away, and keep them in a big bowl in the guest bath. That way when guests are staying they can things they may have forgotten to pack like toothpaste, shampoo. body wash, floss, etc...

  11. I love all of these picks! Everything looks so bright and fresh. I'll gladly come and stay in your guest room haha I feel sorry for our guests right now. We had a dedicated guest room in our house, but now that we're in a rental, guests have to settle for our loft. I tell everyone not to stand up too quickly or you might hit your head on the ceiling and knock yourself out! At least it's a nice and big private space.

  15. I love your home decor posts, and this is a great one! I also like to keep a little sign on the nightstand that has the Wi-Fi password on it. Is this how you're decorating your guest room? So gorgeous!

  24. Perfect suggestions for sure! I have an oversized full-length mirror in my room now, and I feel like from now on, that's going to me my "need-to-have" in all the bedrooms (when I have something more than a one-bedroom apartment, ha!)
