Disappointing Products


As much as I wish that everything I spend my money on is worth it, it's not.  But sometimes I think these disappointing products are the most important to share - so that others don't waste their money on them as well.  So here are three things that I would not recommend...

Barefoot Dreams Cozy Chic Bathrobe
I actually have loved this bathrobe.  It's soft, comfortable and very, very cozy.  BUT after four months of owning it, it already has a giant hole in the arm.  I honestly don't even wear it that much - just out of the shower and first thing in the morning.  For the hefty price tag, it should definitely not be ripping already. I had a cheapie Forever 21 bathrobe that lasted about ten times as long and was a tenth of the price that I think I'm going back to.

Chicwish Trench Coat
This is more a warning of the company than the specific trench coat.  If you remember from this post, it took almost 5 weeks for the coat to arrive.  They don't offer tracking on their shipping so I had no idea when it was coming/if it was coming.  Once the coat arrived, it was too big which isn't a big deal - that's what happens when you shop online and can't try things on.  I accidentally threw the original return form away with the packaging so I went online to request a new form... and never heard back from the company.  I emailed, filled out an online contact form, left voice mails.  Nothing.  Now I have a $70 coat sitting in my closet that is beyond the return policy date and I'll never wear because it's too big.  Such a disappointment.

No Bleeding Secret Lip Liner
After hearing a few great reviews from other bloggers, I couldn't wait to pick up this lip liner.  The first week using it all was good but once I needed to twist up the stick, it didn't work.  I figured I just got a bad one so I brought it back to Sephora and explained the problem.  The employee said I could exchange it but first we'd try opening the new one to make sure it worked fine.  Welp, that one didn't work either.  Apparently they just changed their packaging and not for the better because we couldn't find one that twisted up properly.  I ended up exchanging it out for the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics invisible liner and have been really happy with it!

  1. Oh no! Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Chicwish! I had a similar issue with SheInside and now I'm staying away from them forever! And definitely sad to hear about that bathrobe! It looks so comfy!

  3. Thanks for the tips! Especially about Chichwish! So many bloggers claim to love it but I guess they get better customer service? Boo. That is soooo disappointing about your robe too! You were so excited for that purchase :(

  4. Ugh I'd be beyond upset/frustrated about the trench coat situation. That is incredibly long time for shipping, and then for them to not even respond?! Horrible... have you tried contacted the BBB? *Hugs*

  6. That totally stinks about the coat and the robe!!! I have a Barefoot Dreams robe that Chris got me a few years ago and I love it. You should return it to Nordstrom, they will exchange it. Thank you for sharing reviews on these products though so that we don't waste our money! :-) Have a great day too!

  12. I think you're right, sharing products that you wouldn't repeat buy/companies you wouldn't order from again is as important as sharing your favorites! Also, some things like that bathrobe can be a "favorite" in the beginning but end up not being great in the long run. I appreciate you taking the time to share your honest opinions and experiences. I've taken note of all you mentioned. ;) So sorry to hear about that trench! I remember how lovely it looked when you originally shared in anticipation of receiving it, and then hearing how you never knew if it would ever make it to you! So sorry to hear that when it did it ended up being such a disappointment! What a bummer!!

  18. Have you tried writing to the barefoot people? Their products should come with some sort of warranty… they're quite expensive. Great idea for a post though! I might borrow one day!

  22. Ok I'm really into this post. I feel like a lot of products are pushed on to us and then there is never any follow up! I'm bummed to hear about your robe - after 4 months, a hole of any kind is totally not acceptable! I will def. pass and try and find a different cozy robe next season.

  24. I love posts like this, and I have actually been thinking of doing my own "products I regret buying" post because they are really so helpful! I like knowing when something totally stinks so I can just avoid it! haha :) I am actually in the market for a new lip liner, so I am glad I read this before buying the wrong one. I will definitely check out the OCC version instead.

  26. So annoying about that robe! You should definitely try and return it or exchange it since Nordstrom is so good with their return policy! And so frustrating about the coat too- it's always the worst when you get bad customer service! Hve you tried selling it on Poshmark or ebay??
