Home decor/reveal posts have been few and far between here for one reason: I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to decorating. I was buying things but nothing was really going together, I was just picking paint colors off the top of my head... I had no real "direction" for any room. It has been kind of frustrating (first world problems, I know) having all rooms about 50% finished.
Until I came upon this blog post that changed everything. Apparently I was doing things all wrong - no surprise there. Instead of picking paint colors first, you're supposed to pick one fabric and build the room around that. Well, I tried that with my guest bedroom and I have to say it really does work. I was wanting to repaint the room but didn't know what color and then I stumbled upon these pillows in TJ Maxx (can't find anywhere online, boo) and it all just came together. I picked a beautiful, clean white - Benjamin Moore's Chantilly Lace - for the walls so the focus could be on the accessories and chose other accent pieces to tie in with the colors in the pillows. While I haven't bought much for the room yet, I at least finally know where I'm going with it and am super excited. Here's what I'm thinking...
We inherited a matching black headboard (similar) and dresser from my family and will be keeping that. I went with white bedding as I love how clean and crisp it is and provides a neutral backdrop for the room. The rest I still have to buy.
I've been obsessed with this Marrakesh Shag rug (75% off right now!!!) for as long as I can remember and am so happy to finally have a room to use it in. These Wisteria nightstands are the perfect size for the room but I think I'll change out the knob to black ones to tie into the other black furniture.
Ps. What programs do you guys use to build collages like this? I've always used Pic Monkey but it is. so. flippin. slow. It takes me a good two hours to build one of these and most of the time, it crashes before I finish and have to start over. I'm in desperate need of a better solution but have no idea what!
