Second Anniversary {Traditional} Gift Ideas: Cotton

Last Monday, July 27th, Nick and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary!

Before our first anniversary last year, we decided that we would follow the traditional gift suggestions.  Year one was paper (see what we did here) and year two is cotton.  We try and keep our gifts at the $50 mark since we also celebrate with a nice dinner out.

I'm usually a terrible last minute shopper so I was super proud of myself this year that I had Nick's gift in hand two weeks before our anniversary.  We spent our honeymoon in Hawaii and on one of our last nights, stumbled across the Malibu Shirt Company where Nick picked up two really nice cotton t-shirts.  Well, he ruined one doing yard work a couple of months ago and I was alll over that.  Order placed the next morning.  It was the perfect gift as those shirts bring back so many great memories of our honeymoon!

Here are a few more of my favorite ideas to celebrate your second year of wedded bliss...

+ Pillows
One can never have too many throw pillows (life motto) and how cute is this cotton one from Etsy?  You can customize it by colors, names, dates, however you want!

+ Monogrammed Bathrobes
There are few things as comfy as a plush bathrobe.  Pick up a pair for the two of you and don't forget to get them monogrammed - duh.

*Other monogrammed cotton ideas include handkerchiefs, golf or bath towels.

+ Cotton Candy
If you have a summer anniversary, take the 'cotton' idea literal and head out to your local county fair to grab a bag of cotton candy for a fun night out!

+ Sportswear
Another idea for a night out: get your guy a tee or sweatshirt of his favorite sports team and surprise him with tickets to a game.  Ps. Go Tigs.

Do you guys do the traditional gifts, too?  I'm already starting to think ahead for the next one... year 3 is leather!

  3. These are so awesome and so thoughtful for your second anniversary - I love what you got him! We don't really stick to traditional gifts because we sort of just agreed that our gift would be a trip every year (if possible)! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  19. I try to stick with the traditional except for leather because I just couldn't get something in time (and Keith had already bought a belt). But for 4 years this year (fruit) we celebrated on a winery trail. Year 5 is wood and silverware so I'd better be prepared!!

  24. How nice to follow the traditional gift guide. I don't even remember what Kyle and I got each other for our anniversary - and it was 3 months ago.... We also try to keep our limit to $50, but occasionally we go over too.

I really like the pillow option for an anniversary gift :)

I noticed I made a serious spelling mistake in the first comment!

  36. I love how you are keeping with tradition! We try to do the same thing too. So cute. The shirt is a perfect idea. I also checked out your one year anniversary ideas, and LOVE those shadowboxes. I never thought to do the lettering like that. It is a beautiful way to showcase the city names. Thanks for sharing!

  37. Yessss now I have great ideas for year 1 and 2!! Totally doing the bath robes! We are obsessed with hotel bath robes (is that gross? I don't think so because it's usually only very nice hotels that have them right?) and we don't have robes at home for some reason. Or is that a bad idea because then we would revert from lounge wear to just wearing robes at home..and that could get lazy. hmm..lots to think about now ;)
