Labor Day Weekend

The last weekend of summer couldn't of been a better one.

We were busy, busy, busy (theme of the summer!), but I wouldn't have changed a thing about this weekend.  A final heat wave kept temps near 90 degrees which was perfect - there was plenty of beach time, lake time, and running through sprinkles time logged over the last three days.

The fun started on Friday with the official kickoff of college football.  We live in the same town as our alma mater, Western Michigan University, so we knew we had to get to a few games this year.  This first one was vs. Michigan State University and I was lucky enough to snag two very hard to get tickets a month ago when they went on sale.

We tailgated with friends for a few hours before the game which consisted of eating way, way too much food, lots of Not Your Fathers Rootbeer (SO GOOD) and intense corn hole/bags competitions.

Since the MSU football team is ranked #5, we didn't have high hopes for the outcome of the game.  The final score was 37-24, but Western put up a really great fight and it was a lot closer of a game than anything thought it was going to be.  We have a great football team this year, so we're looking forward to getting to a few more games (and more tailgating)!

Thiiiiis about sums up how we were feeling the next morning.  B-E-A-T.  Despite the downpouring rain, Nick headed out to golf with his dad for the day and Brady and I had a super lazy morning.  It was awesome.

Around lunch time, it started to clear up so I got my butt off the couch and did some damage at the mall.  I picked up lots of great stuff for fall, at even better prices!  I rounded up my buys in this post here.

Sunday morning we were up bright and early - ready to head to Holland for one last trip to the dog beach!

My happy place

The beach was PACKED - when we were leaving, there was a line of about 50 cars waiting to get in - but we all had such a great time.  Brady played and played, and we were all able to swim and soak up a few last summer rays, tear.

On our way out of town, we of course had to stop for ice cream!  Where else did we stop?  At about 4 different rest stops - Brady doesn't lift his head high enough out of the water when he swims with a tennis ball in his mouth and takes on/swallows sooo much water, that the guy literally has to pee every 15 minutes.

We got home and super quickly cleaned up before heading out to dinner and stopping by our friends cottage for their annual Labor Day party.  They have a band come out every year and play live music, the best way to send off the summer.

Aaaand, that's about where my pictures stop for the weekend.  Yesterday we decided to call off any plans we had and just stay home.  Best. Decision. Ever.  We went for bike rides, walks, played in the sprinklers with Brady, grilled burgers, got ice cream, watched lots of Bloodline on Netflix (loving it), and went to bed early, with clean sheets and everything :)  Perfection.

How was your weekend?!

I want to take Ted to a real beach..we might soon..but the beaches here are actually pretty disgusting, so I don't know how that will go.
