On My Radar: Weekender Bags

I knew once I started talking about the holidays, I wasn't going to be able to stop.  They're just my favorite, I'm sorry!  Today we're talking about weekender bags because if there is one thing the holidays = it's travel.  We live about 1.5 hours away from my family and 3 hours away from Nick's family and they are 3 hours apart from each other in opposite directions (of course).  So not too far, but far enough that we don't get to spend every holiday with both families.  Since we've been married, we've split up our time: spend Thanksgiving with one, Christmas with another.  It's a bummer to not see everyone at both holidays, but I feel like if we tried to travel between the two, we wouldn't be celebrating at all, just driving.  What do you guys do with families that are spread apart?

Anyway!  Back to the bags.  With all of the traveling coming up, it's definitely a good idea to have a great weekender bag handy.  I had a Vera Bradley one for YEARS that held up so well, but just this summer switched to this monogrammed satchel from Tuckernuck that I absolutely love.  It's super well made, has a comfortable strap and fits perfectly into overhead bins if you'll be doing air travel.  I can't lie though, I really want to get this Sole Society bag, too... it's gorgeous.  Happy travels!

  3. The Tuckernuck bags are so cute--they always tempt me with their ads! These are all adorable bags.

  4. Love these! My family usually celebrates in Texas, 5 hours from my husband's family in Louisiana. When we lived in texas, we would do christmas eve with one family, and christmas morning with the other. Now that we live in Georgia, we are following your lead and doing Thanksgiving with one, and Christmas with the other!

  5. I can't even pick a favorite of these - I love them all so much! I don't really NEED another weekender (my Lily for Target one has been amazing) but I think I might add one of these to my Christmas list anyways!

  11. I love these! I have a canvas weekender bag that I love, but I could definitely use one with zippers and better storage.

  12. I would only get the fossil bag because it's the same color as my previous weekender bag. And so I can blind people with it's brightness hah.

  13. Love that Vera Bradley bag in blue! So pretty and looks very sturdy! We don't have much travelin to do for the holidays since everyone is pretty close. We have family in Puerto Rico but couldn't imagine traveling to Puerto Rico for the holidays. We've always stayed out. In hoping to one day travel to Puerto Rico for Christmas! It's so fun and my family parties right... Just not sure it'll feel like Christmas where it's nice and warm.. Maybe one day.

  15. I spilled candle wax all over my Vera Bradley bag! Ugh. They are so roomy and light weight though. Great picks! Love that striped one.

  17. We live two hours away from Christopher's family and my family is spread all over (with one sister in Europe, ha!), but most of my family lives about seven hours away. Anyway, we do the same as you guys. Thanksgiving with one family, Christmas with the other. And then we flipflop the holidays the next year. So this year we'll see his parents for Thanksgiving and my family for Christmas and then next year we'll see my family for Thanksgiving and his for Christmas and so on and so forth. We actually always see BOTH our families around both holidays, but just not on the actual day. So like we'll spend Christmas with my family this year, but then celebrate Christmas with his parents over New Year's. Anyway, longest answer ever to this question, ha! Sorry about that!

I love these bags by the way! That Sole Society one is going on my Christmas Wish List!

  20. The holidays always are tricky when it comes to traveling and seeing family! For Thanksgiving, we always rotate every other year between families, except this year we are just staying home the two of us (and Finn!). And, for Christmas we are with Ryan's family on Christmas Eve and my family Christmas Day since that's also my dad's birthday. I love all these weekender bags - I've been looking for something new other than my Vera Bradley one, so I may have to check a couple of these out!

  21. Love the brown leather one! So pretty! We have the same problem with our families (when we lived in Texas. now we're too far to see them). We've tried to see them both on most Christmases and it was way too much driving. Now we prefer to split holidays. :)

  27. I love a good overnight bag! That Tuckernuck bag is my favorite! We have Thanksgiving at our house and invite our inlaws, and then we spend Christmas with each other. It's hard with his family living 13 hours away and mine living 2 hours away, so we found it easier to just do our own thing. I love all this holiday talk! xo, Champagne&Suburbs

  29. I'll take one of each, please! I love all of them. If you use travel bags often then I'd say it's nice to have some options :)

  30. Love that Sole Society bag. I also saw the "Lacie" which is bigger....I tend to over pack.

  31. I LOVE weekender bags and I'm obsessed with that monogrammed canvas one that you recently got! I've still got my Vera Bradley weekender bag I got freshman year of college and it's still holding up super well so unfortunately, I don't have a big reason to ask for a new one lol

  32. I love that monogrammed bag! I know the feeling of family being close, but still just a little too far. We are an hour and fifteen from my family, but super close to my husbands. Two years ago on Christmas we drove over to see my family first thing in the morning, then drove back to my in-laws for lunch, then back to my parents for dinner... needless to say we were exhausted by the end of the night and felt we spent half the holiday in the car (which we pretty much did).

  33. I'm in love with that Sole Society one now! So pretty...might be adding to my Christmas list. Thanks for sharing :)

  35. I seriously loved the monogrammed weekender bags. I have a set of monogrammed totes from LL Bean that I don't use often enough (except for the one that I use for a laptop bag) though... Oops.
