5 Favorite Purchases of 2015

I love shopping, a little too much sometimes.  Especially when it comes to online shopping, I mean it's just so dang easy.  And don't forget about being able to use Ebates - you're basically saving money.  Anyway, that's how I justify a lot of my purchases ;)  I bought plenty of clothes/jewelry/makeup/home decor/ books in 2015, but these five things were among my very favorites...

Alex and Ani Bracelets | I can't believe it took me so long to hop on this bandwagon!  I have the smallest wrists on the planet so I am super picky about bracelets and I LOVE that these are size adjustable, meaning anyone can wear them.  It's also fun to collect the different charms - my first one was a pineapple that reminded me of our anniversary trip to Charleston :)  You can't beat the reasonable prices either.

Banana Republic Indigo Skinny Ankle Jeans | By far, my favorite pair of jeans I have ever owned.  Again, I'm pretty short and these are the perfect length for me being that they're ankle (but don't worry, they also come in long). They have just the right amount of stretch to them so they're super comfortable, yet they don't stretch out at all while wearing which is my #1 pet peeve with jeans.  They also wash and dry really well without any shrinkage.

Sadly, these bad boys are packed away until next winter and I'm on the hunt for a good pair of maternity jeans to get me through the winter.  Any recommendations?  I just ordered these because they're on sale, but tell me what your favorite ones are!

Benefit Brow Zings Shaping Kit | After the girl at the Ulta Benefit counter botched my eyebrows one too many times, I decided to buy this and start doing them myself.  I love that it comes with a darker gel to 'mark' your eyebrows (I then use the tweezers to pluck stray hairs) and powder to fill in.  The brushes are surprisingly great quality, too.

Tuckernuck Monogrammed Sunshine Satchel | I've raved about this way too many times on the blog already, but I'll reiterate again how this is the perfect weekender bag.  It's just the right size for up to 3 days away, has a comfortable strap that doesn't dig into your shoulder and fits neatly in an overhead compartment of an airplane, because no one's paying to check bags anymore.  Bonus: the monogram is included in the price and you can always find Tuckernuck coupon codes online.

Honorable mention: this tote bag.  It's the perfect size for my computer when I'm out and about or as a carry on while traveling.  The quality is amazing and everyone is always complimenting it.

Bread & Wine by Shauna Niequist | Probably the best book I've read all year.  I shared a thorough review and a favorite recipe from the book in this post HERE if you want to check out why I loved it so much!  I just ordered Shauna's book Savor - a 365 day devotional, with recipes - and I can't wait for it to get here next week.  Maybe my favorite book of 2016?  :)

What was your favorite purchase of last year?

  1. Love! And Bread and Wine was my favorite, too! I'm reading Savor now and enjoying it, but it's different than Bread and Wine. I haven't seen any recipes yet either...

  2. I'm pretty mad at myself that when I went for a weekender bag I didn't get that one! I always love wearing jeans so I need to check Banana Republic out!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. I've heard good things about H&Ms maternity jeans but I haven't gotten any for myself self! Let me know what you think about the Gap ones, though! Bread and Wine is on my list to ready ASAP, too!

  4. So I want to love Alex and Ani but I cannot figure out how to adjust the bracelets to save my life, how sad is that? I have pretty small wrists and hate when things fall too low, so share your secret! I actually think Gap has my favorite maternity jeans. Do you have a belly band yet? If not, get one! It will let your jeans last you a little longer and help you post pregnancy wearing them. I would recommend going to Pea in the Pod or another maternity store and trying jeans on to see if you prefer the pull up over the belly kind or the elastic waist ones!

  5. I just started to use Ebates last month, and I am kicking myself that I had never used it before! Love the weekender bag...its awesome that the monogram is included with the price!

  6. I need to get that book! The pair of maternity skinny jeans that best fit me are Jessica Simpson's brand! They are full panel, dark wash, great quality...and they are actually tight around my ankles! A lot of other brands were loose at my ankle and it was just awkward looking!

  7. Ah I love that Tuckernuck satchel! I suggest splurging on a really good pair of maternity jeans and then getting a budget friendly option too, I thought Jessica Simpson's skinny maternity jeans were great for the cost! Just make sure to look for the tan panel that goes over the belly- the dark panels show through some shirts and used to drive me crazy!

  8. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect jeans... Ill have to try these! Love the sound of that book too!

  9. I love Alex & Ani bracelets too! Actually so much I bought all the girls in my family some for Xmas...their Black Friday sale made it so easy to!

  10. As a 'tall' girl I have struggled finding good maternity pants, but Old Navy has their 'rockstar' maternity jeans and I ordered a pair and actually preferred them over the more expensive option from Gap! I also have a pair of inset panels and a full panel, and in terms of comfort to last all through the pregnancy, I would definitely say invest in a full panel!

  11. I love that satchel! I just got on the Alex & Ani kick as well and I too have tiny wrists and these are the first bracelets that don't bother me so much.

  12. Yesss, I have and love those BR jeans too! Discovering petite ankle jeans this year was a game changer- especially for booties! I really need to finally get Bread & Wine, I always hear so many good things!

  13. That brow kit looks like it would do a great job! I have a really hard time trusting others in doing my brows so I have always did them myself. I've always feared them accidentally taking them off or something-haha.

  14. Totally forgot about that book! I need to get it, sounds like something right up my alley!! Love your purchases! Going to keep those jeans on my radar. xoxo

  15. I love Alex and Ani bracelets - they've become "the gift" between all the girls in my family. I can expect a new one every Christmas and birthday. I love how great they are for stacking. I was gifted one of their new necklaces for Christmas, it's adjustable and can be worn long or short - really great.

  19. Fun finds! Maternity jeans are my least favorite maternity thing to shop for. I settled on some Jessica Simpson ones from Motherhood recently. They were on sale and I didn't want to spend a ton. I've found great colored skinnies, corduroys and dress pants at Motherhood too. Beware Old Navy maternity runs HUGE. I ordered my usual size and could have easily fit two of myself into the items.

  20. Great picks, you know I love that weekender bag!! And thanks for pointing that out about the bracelets- I have the same tiny wrist-bangle problem and had no idea that they're adjustable. May have to check them out :)

  21. So many great purchases! I've been on the hunt for jeans, so I may have to check out BR. I have yet to read that book, but it sounds like it's a must!

  22. Such great purchases! That weekender is on my list of things that I would love to get -- and I need to check out those BR jeans! I want to clean out my jean collection and get rid of a few cheap pairs that are still hanging around but don't fit well or aren't comfortable and then snag a few new higher quality options!

  26. I am still so nervous about doing eyebrow stuff, but I recently bought the cheap elf version (identical in colors to your Benefit one) brow kit and I've been experimenting with it lately. :) Also, I am so picky about jeans. I have never tried Banana for jeans... may have to look into it!

  31. What a lovely idea for a post, I love the idea of looking back on 2015 in terms of purchases. I haven't bought any Alex&Ani bracelets yet, but they are so cute! I love that the charms have meanings as well.

  32. Okay, so I've been down the pregnancy road a couple of times and feel I can give you a pretty good answer as far as jeans go - though my answer may shock you...avoid Gap and go the more inexpensive route with Old Navy! I've had several pairs from each, and while my Gap maternity jeans have now all been donated (or burned) I have held onto the Old Navy ones just in case. The Rockstar maternity from Old Navy is the best. Stretchy and true to size. And you cannot beat the price. Definitely worth trying - promise! Just avoid anything with a demi panel, as they fit weird before your belly is big, but when your belly finally does get big, the demi panel makes it feel like you need to constantly pull them up. So annoying. I like the over the belly band personally. They stay up better and feel more supportive. Whew! Sorry for the book. Oh, and the HUE leggings made it all the way through pregnancy with me, so I recommend those too!

I am still waiting for a reason to snatch up that Tuckernuck weekender. Perhaps a V-day gift is on my horizon?? Lol!:)
