Friday Randoms

Image via

Happy Friday!  This week actually flew by, but I'm not complaining.  Winter, hurry up.  We've been busy, busy over here and the weekend will be no different.  Nick is heading out on a ski trip with his friends, so my friends are coming into town for a little girls staycation!  Shopping, eating and checking out baby shower venues are all on the agenda. Nothing better than girl time!

Right now, I'm just sitting here catching up on Vanderpump Rules and these kids are so ridiculous that I think my brain is actually getting dumber (but I can't stop watching), so what's more appropriate than a random brain dump post to kick off the weekend?!

Speaking of TV, I'm loving this season of The Bachelor.  Ben is sweet and while there are a few nut job girls (looking at you, Olivia), I think he also has some keepers in the group.  I'm calling Lauren B. the flight attendant as the winner!

So this is kind of gross, but our white rugs in our bathroom have seen better days.  As in, they're not white anymore.  I was going to buy new ones this week, but I thought I'd try throwing them in the wash machine first and talk about making a huge difference!  All I did was wash on cold and tumble dry on low and seriously, they're like brand new.  I also freshened up our bath towels using this tutorial and five stars for that, too.

I've been living in this sweatshirt since last week.  I was planning on picking up the Patagonia Better Sweater jacket for our Colorado trip next month, but when I stumbled upon this one looking so similar for a fraction of the price = sold. It's SO warm and comfy and despite looking short on the websites picture, it's the perfect length to wear with leggings (which is all I wear these days).

Work on the nursery has begun!  We're testing paint colors - looking for that perfect pale pink - and going to check out cribs next week.  One thing I know we will be ordering is this chandelier.  In. Love.

Has anyone tried this moisturizer?  I recently read a few glowing reviews of it and was intrigued... and then once I saw that it was completely sold out on Sephora's website, I'm officially dying to try it.

I've discovered the perfect nude polish!  Essie Prima Ballerina is my newest favorite.  I'm kind of over the dark colors of fall/winter, but it's a little too soon for the pale pinks/pastels of spring, so for the in between time, I'm all about the classic, simple nude nails.

I have an all new appreciation for mom bloggers now that I'm trying to learn about all things baby.  I just discovered Southern Mama + Child and Little Baby Garvin and have completely stalked them all week.  What are your favorite families to follow?

Have you guys heard about the Zika virus?  It's a mosquito carried virus affecting mostly the Caribbean and is especially dangerous to pregnant women and unborn babies.  Our doctors have warned us against traveling there right now and I know a couple other expecting ladies that have cancelled cruises/Mexico trips just in case.  Sooo, a Caribbean babymoon is out.  I'm thinking it will just be safer and easier for our peace of mind to stay in the country when we do a little getaway this April.  Maybe The Keys or Palm Beach?  Open to any ideas!

Whew, sorry for the novel.  Hope you guys have wonderful weekends!

  1. I have white rugs too. I've tried washing them with bleach but it didn't seem to make too much of a difference. I'm addicted to Vanderpump Rules too. The show grew on me after while. I really like the flight attendant too. I was surprised he sent home the brunette this week. I thought she was more his type than some of the others.

  5. Hooray for designing baby girls room!! I feel like a terrible blog friend if you just discovered Jessica Garvin's blog...probably my all time favorite, even before I was pregnant! I talked about her in my post today too, lol. I'm loving The Bachelor too but Olivia is seriously cray - just like Lace!! I totally think it will be Lauren B too but I really like Cailia!

  6. Washing bathroom rugs seriously the best kept secret. It does wonders, right?

I've loved Essie's nude shades forever, they are soooooo pretty.

Zinka virus talk is everywhere and I worry for all the prego mamas that are stressing. It's a bummer about Olympic trips and cruises getting canceled but better saf3e than sorry for sure.

  8. Baby shower venues... how exciting!! And I JUST heard about that Zika virus... but I'm sure you'll find something fun to do in the states. My vote is for Key West- it's absolutely beautiful and has that caribbean feel :)

  10. I can't even with Vanderpump Rules. Those people seriously make me depressed for our society, lol. Can't wait to see some nursery updates. Chandelier? LOVE! And girl - I used to be so scared of white bathroom rugs. But now, it's all I want. They really do wash up great, and are actually easier to keep clean and fresh looking because they wash up so well. Who would have thought??? Definitely wise to stay in the states with this scary virus looking. That's would I would do! The Keys or Palm Beach sound great, and would still be warm enough at that time of year!

  14. That zika virus is so scary! They said its most likely to come to Florida first so you may even want to skip the coast just to be safe! I'm obsessed with that chandelier! Can't wait to see the nursery come together!

  15. I randomly ordered that moisturizer a few weeks ago-- I really have no idea what made me want to try it and I can't believe it's sold out now. I thought it seemed like a good price until I realized it was $22 for less than an ounce :( I haven't used it long enough to tell a difference, but I love how it feels on my skin- it's a thicker cream, but feels like water on your skin if that makes sense. I am so excited to see what you guys do with the nursery and where you decide on for your babymoon!

  16. That Pottery Barn Kids chandelier is perfect for the nursery! And how fun that your girls are coming into to town for a girls weekend and shower planning. I just heard about the zika virus too, and it's super scary! I vote for the mid-Keys for the babymoon, I'm still on a high from visiting Islamorada a few weeks ago. Beautiful place and it's more relaxing/quieter than the Key West party scene. Can't wait to see what you guys choose! Happy Friday gurlie <3

I think I'm about done with dark colors & ready for some pale nails... hoping it brings Spring in faster!

  20. um, that is terrifying about the virus and the caribbean. here's hoping i don't die lol. or get pregnant.
you've only just discovered little baby garvin?! i've been stalking her for years ;)
i'll definitely be trying that white towel tutorial, i am tempted to just throw mine out as they really have seen better days lol but i'll try that first!

  23. We have light colored rugs in our bathrooms and it's amazing how dirty they get. Actually, it's super gross haha. I wash mine pretty often and they always look brand new afterwards. The washer can be a little rough on them so I always use a gentle cycle. I'm going to try the bath towel refresher that you posted. :) Also, super scary about that Zika virus. The Keys or Palm Beach sounds great :)

  24. Sounds like you're going to have an amazing weekend!! I am really into this season of the Bachelor; I had lost interest in the past few seasons. Washing the rugs is amazing!! We got some dirt spots on one of ours a few years ago and was thinking about getting a new one but then washed it and everything came off!! Not sure why that wasn't my first thought when it got dirty lol Where are you going in CO? We're going on a trip there this summer and need to start looking into hotels! Cannot wait to see the baby's room!! That Zika virus is no joke - so scary!! Hope y'all find a great place to go on your babymoon :)

  25. Vanderpump Rules is so dumb, but I can't stop watching it. I'm so glad that Stassi is back. The Zika virus terrifies me! I can't stop looking up info about it. Have a great weekend with your girlfriends!

  26. I'm a VP rules fan also but I must have missed the memo where jax and brittany met? I'm confused esp since she's from kentucky and while I watch religiously, I must have missed that.

  27. Hoorayyyy for nursery planning! We have a couple rough ideas of what we want to do so I'm hoping to shop around a little this weekend and check out paint options too!! :) I'm hoping to paint my nails a good nude color this weekend- they need SOMETHING, they are naked and it's annoying me lol!

  28. I have the same Essie shade as you and I love it. Especially as I am not allowed to wear certain nail polish to some classes in Uni its nice to have an option of painting my nails without it being too obvious.
Can't wait to see the nursery love to see peoples visions come to life!
Have a great weekend spending it with your friends girl xo

  30. That Zika virus stuff is so scary to me-I can't believe one of the countries asked women not to get pregnant for several years! I need to get that Essie color-I love a good neutral! I think Lauren B. wins too-so obvious he likes her best! :)

  31. That virus is so scary - no Caribbean for you! I say come to FL - it's pretty much like the Caribbean especially South FL. Have a great weekend - sounds like so much fun!

  32. Have such a fun weekend with your girlfriends! You girls are going to love going to look for baby shower venues!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Enjoy girl time!! I want to hear what you find in shower venues... because I need to start looking for one out of state stat... so tell me what you guys consider!! :) I've been seeing stuff about this Zika virus but didn't know what it meant... suggesting Half Moon Bay as a baby moon because the Keys are close to the Carribean? Maybe? Or maybe San Diego? There's some pretty resorts between South Orange County and San Diego. (I think the St. Regis Monarch Beach is renovating so their rates are ridiculously low right now. Maybe worth looking at?)

  35. That chandelier is precious! Good pick!

The prima ballerina color is so pretty! I need to try that one. I like a good soft color for the spring. Though I'm still totally loving the dark nail polish for this time of year. Currently After School Boy Blazer is my fav (it's what I'm wearing now). :)

  36. I hope you have a great time with your friends! :)

I'm loving watching The Bachelor this season too. I think Lauren B. and Ben would be good together. I also like Becca, Amanda (the one with two kids, I think that's her name), & Caila.

I love the blog: Love, Taza. Her blog is one of my all time favorite blogs to read.
