Friday + Links

Image via

It's peony season!  Unfortunately, I can NEVER find any peonies around here.  It makes me so sad because they're so pretty.  One of these years I'm going to plant a peony bush in my yard so I can have unlimited peonies... this year is definitely not the year though, ha!  I'll be lucky if I get around to planting the herb garden that I'm planning on ;)

We have a busy weekend ahead.  Nick has a hockey tournament here in town and I'm having a girls night tonight, heading to my hometown to celebrate my dads birthday tomorrow and then we're heading to the other side of the state for a belated mother's day celebration with Nick's family.  It's my last weekend that my doctor will let me travel within 30 minutes of the hospital so I guess you could say I'm taking advantage of it!

Before I go start frantically cleaning my house before my friends come over tonight, a few of my favorite links from around the web this week...

+ Still on my avocado kick with Cilantro Lime Chicken with Avocado Salsa... yep.

+ How cute is this pineapple button down blouse?  40% off right now, too!

+ Obsessed with this brass task lamp.  I saw it in the store yesterday and it's bigger than I thought it would be - a really great statement piece in an office.

+ Anyone want to plan a weekend trip to Sonoma County?  After June 16th of course so I can fully indulge :)

+ I'm on the hunt for a baby book... leaning towards this Emily Ley The Story of Us one.  Does anyone have one that they used and loved?

+ This was something I REALLY needed to read this week: How to Prioritize When Your To Do List Wants To Kill You.

+ I have a skin care post coming up soon on some of my recent favorites, but had to let you know how much I'm loving this serum since it's on sale right now (and rarely ever is!).  I use it at night after cleansing + toning and before my moisturizer.  I really feel that it brightens and evens out my skin tone.  I've been using it religiously for a couple of months now and have barely even made a dent in the bottle so totally worth the money - especially when it's on sale!

What are you guys up to this weekend?  Have a good one!

  1. I haven't heard of any other baby books, but I have heard bad press about Emily ley in general, so I have steered clear of her products. I sent my sister the project life kits for both her boys and she used them as baby books.

  2. Awe, last weekend. Getting close! Now everyone will just have to come to you, perfect ;) Those flowers are so pretty. For Mother's Day, my dad got my mom a garden bookshelf. The shelves are slanted and you fill the bookcase with soil, and the soil travels to the base and then fills up every shelf so that you can add your plants to the soil. It turned out so great. She used it to plant mint, basil, parsley, etc. then filled the other shelves with flowers. It's a fun way to grow your plants, but not have to plant them in the ground.

  7. My parents peonies are starting to bloom. I told them to just ignore it if someone comes over & cuts them all off ... & they see a vase of fresh cut peonies on my table :)

  12. Sounds like you're taking full advantage of your last weekend of travel - have so much fun! My baby book is so old school, so I don't have any recommendations for you in that department, but I'm sure anything from Emily Ley is a winner.

  13. Enjoy your last traveling weekend! I sadly didn't do a baby book, but hope to put together a photo book online to have printed from his 1st year. And I LOVE that cilantro lime chicken...might have to add it to the grocery list for the weekend! Have a good one!

  14. You are definitely taking advantage of the no-traveling restrictions! Have a fun time getting to see your families and girls night! I'd love to hear which baby book you end up getting and how you like it! I really want to make sure I'm diligent with filling one out when we have kids!

  15. Baby is going to be here SO SOON!
Hope you have a great weekend!
PS- have you ever tried the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting Exfoliant? It is a leave on liquid, but unlike any consistency I have ever used! I am obsessed with how it makes my skin look and feel! I just started using it... I'll probably post about it in the near future!

  20. I literally just told Josh I want a row of peony bushes in our yard because they never have them in stores around us! Maybe we can get a bulk deal between NJ and Michigan ;) Enjoy your trip!! Can't believe you're so close!!

  22. You totally need a peony! Have Nock pick one up and get it in the garden. You can always translate it later when you plan out your garden more. But they take about 3 years to produce a ton, so get on it now! ;-)

  23. You should see if Whole Foods or Trader Joe's near you can order peonies for you... worth a shot.
