May Goals

Image via

Mayyyy, where did you come from?!  Our last month pre-baby, so as you can imagine, there is a crap load of stuff to get done.  I made a master list of tasks to complete before she gets here and there is like 60 things on it... not sure if having everything written out like that is making me feel better or giving me more anxiety, ha!  I'm just trying to remind myself it won't be the end of the world if we don't accomplish everything (and we won't) before June.

So!  Let's get to it.  And don't worry, I'm not sharing all 60 things on my master list, I thought I'd tone it down a bit for my goals today ;)  These are the high priority to-do's!

New Blinds | You may remember my nursery curtain debacle (first world problems), but I decided to go with regular curtains and since we need new blinds in that room, go with black outs for those.  Our bathroom also needs new blinds, so to Home Depot we go.

Finish Baby's Room | Speaking of the nursery, IT'S ALMOST DONE!!  I shared a sneak peak on Snapchat over the weekend and we are seriously so close.  I just need to find a little nightstand and get some stuff on the walls and then a tour will be coming :)  It's my favorite room in the house!

Order Newborn Photo Props | We finally settled on a photographer and we'll be doing the pictures at home which I'm so excited for, but I need to order some props.  I think a moses basket like this one would be super cute and then of course, some pretty swaddle blankets and bows.  Anything else I should have?

Wash Everything | There are so. many. things. to wash.  Clothes, blankets, bottles, bedding - this could easily take me all month!

Hair Care | For both me and Brady :)  I need to schedule a hair trim and highlights for myself and get Brady groomed at the end of May, so I can ride out the summer and not have to worry about that.  I also want to pick up some of this stuff so that I can let my hair air dry as much as possible because I don't think blow outs are going to be at the top of my to do list anymore, ha.

Freezer Meals | A massive Costco trip is in our future.  I want to make a few freezer meals (post with my favorites coming soon!) and stock up on everything in general.  I just want life to be as uncomplicated as possible once she gets here, and not having to worry about dinner every night sounds amazing.

Prenatal Massage | Saving the best for last ;)  My friends gifted me a prenatal massage this winter and I've been saving it for when I really need it.  Thankfully, I haven't had very much back pain (fingers crossed I didn't just jinx myself) so I haven't had to use it yet, but now that the end is near, I need to take advantage and treat myself!

What's on your to do list for May?  Anything baby specific I should be doing in these last few weeks that I probably wouldn't even think about?!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

  1. Looks like you'll be all prepped for baby's arrival after you check off the items on this list. And the massage will help you relax after it all (or maybe in the middle of it all!)

  8. Freezer meals!! Yes! You will be so glad you did those! We try and do freezer meals together with friends every time someone is getting close to their due date so food is one less thing they have to worry about. :) So awesome that baby is almost here!!

  11. Ah, this is getting so exciting!!! This month is going to flyyyy by! I like that your list has not-so-fun things like getting blinds and fun things like massages on it ;) Should make it better. I can't wait to see your freezer meal's. I need to get into that habit!

  12. How exciting! This is going to go so so fast! My tip is to do anything you love that is for you before baby comes. Little ones have a way of consuming our time in the best way. And--do one more special date with your hubby. It will never be just the two of you again.

  13. Ahhh, newborn photos are EVERYTHING! I cannot wait. And yes, if I was having a baby, I would be trying to get all the grooming done possible before the special arrival! And lots of weekend mornings that you sleep in - because those seem to disappear once you have a baby. Good luck with everything!

  15. You've got a big list but some of it sounds fun!! We desperately need to redo our blinds throughout the entire house so I'd love to hear how it goes if y'all do it yourselves! That Moses basket is adorable - can't wait to see those newborn shots here in a few weeks :) And the nursery looked beautiful on Snapchat - can't wait to see it completed!

  16. I can't believe you're in the home stretch!! Great idea to stock up on household things and foods with a big costco run. It's nice to not have to worry about the basics when you're trying to figure out life with a newborn. Also, thank heavens for Amazon prime! So nice to shop from the comfort of your own home. I love when people use floral swaddle blankets, fresh flowers and initials for newborn pictures. I'd recommend only washing the tiny baby clothes and then once the baby arrives and you get a better idea of her size, go ahead and wash more. I've heard stories of people washing tons of stuff and wishing they could exchange things once the baby arrives and they need different things. Good luck crossing lots of things off your list this month. We're busy preparing to move into our new house and planning a 3rd birthday party :)

  24. It's getting so real...ahhhh....yay! The photo props are so fun to think about. I can't wait to see those! I love the Moses basket and headbands. If you have anything sentimental like a stuffed animal, blanket or piece of jewelry you could include that too. So sweet. Good luck getting everything else done!!

  26. Disclaimer: not a mom. Butttttttt spend time with Nick, relish the summer ice cream dates that are easy and simple, and just enjoy the last few weeks as a family of 2. ;)

  28. Ooh, enjoy that massage!!! And I think for lifestyle shoots at home, that you don't really need props. You just want to be captured as a new family living in the home as you would on a daily basis.
