Our Last Baby Free Weekend?!

The title of this post may be a bit of wishful thinking... at 39 weeks and 4 days (with zero signs of labor approaching), I'm starting to have a feeling that this baby is going to be late.  Thursday is quickly approaching!  But either way, we pretended this was our last weekend and made it a good one.

Friday kicked off with a date night to an Italian restaurant we've been wanting to try.  It was a super cute, authentic looking place right on a little lake outside of town so it had everything going for it... but the food was only just okay.  I had pizza and Nick had an olive oil based sausage pasta and the portions were HUGE.  I ordered a small pizza and that picture below is like 1/8th of it, I couldn't believe it.  Yay for leftovers!

We were up bright and early on Saturday morning for our neighborhood garage sale.  I literally decided like two days before that I was going to participate and have my own (just trying to stay busy...) and so me and my little buddy got all set up at 8am.  We sold a few things, but didn't make any big bucks.  It was just nice to get rid of so much of the stuff that I've purged from my house during this nesting phase.  I'm telling you, 'nesting' has been awesome.  I really feel like my house is free of junk and clutter and I LOVE it.

Saturday was so freakin' hot.  90 degrees and humid hot and while I'm normally all about that, I can't handle it while pregnant.  I give serious props to you ladies that are pregnant through the entire summer - especially if you live in the South - because I really don't know if I could do it haha!  I lasted outside at my sale until lunch time and then it was back in the AC for naps and a Real Housewives of New York binge watch.

Later that night, we met up with friends for a little pre-birthday, pre-baby (I keep forgetting it's also my birthday coming up on Thursday!) dinner.  Good food, good company and live music made for a fun night.  Afterwards we took Brady for a long walk since it finally cooled off  (he's a baby in the heat, too) and then visited with our next door neighbors for a little bit.

The best maternity dress in the world (buy it in every color).

And on Sunday, this happened!  We wallpapered our half-bathroom!  And when I say we, I mean Nick, but I was a really good supervisor ;) It looks so awesome, I'm in love with it.  Unfortunately we completely measured wrong how much paper we need, so the bathroom is 3/4 of the way done and we had to order more, but it looks SO GOOD.  We used this wallpaper from Sherwin Williams and it was a decently easy project!

We wrapped up the weekend with chicken on the grill and a couple episodes of Bloodline (stolen from my snapchat @kavanderploeg).  I wasn't so sure how season 2 was going to be, but so far so good.  We're hooked again.  And of course walks around the neighborhood and maybe even freshly cut pineapple - we're hooked on that, too.  Anything to try and get this process started!

And I just wanted to say, I was thinking and praying for of all of my Orlando friends yesterday.  The news is so sad and unbelievable.  It's just a cruel world that we live in.  Sending you guys lots of love.

Hope you all had wonderful + safe weekends.

  2. I love the wallpaper! Going to need all the details on how easy this actually is to do (or isn't)... because I've been loving some of the wallpaper I've seen! Maybe baby girl is waiting for the time between your birthday and Father's Day.... to be a gift to BOTH of you. No favoritism there. ;)

  4. You look amazing!!! Definitely keep walking, you can have zero signs of labor one day and have a sweet babe in your arms the next day! I wasn't sure what to expect of Bloodline either but its so dark and intense, we binge watched the entire second season in 3 days!

  5. Glad you enjoyed your 'hopefully last' weekend of two. I've not had any experience, but I've heard from prego mamas to really try to enjoy this time because you can never go back to just two. I can only imagine how ready you are to kiss, hold and meet lil one, but enjoy the couple time <3!

    And yes, coach taylor FOREVER!

Getting rid of stuff and making a little money must feel so great even though it was ridiculously hot here on Saturday...I don't know how pregnant women do it all summer. Yay for your birthday and possibly baby girls arrival hopefully happening on the same day!!

  26. I lived in those Target maternity dresses last summer! And yes it was one hot long summer in Charleston! Hopefully your little girl will surprise you and get the ball rolling in the next few days! I've heard many stories of women being barely dilated then their water broke the next day!

Loving that wallpaper! Hooray for nesting and getting rid of clutter. That is definitely a good thing! And I'm glad you are figuring out how to survive the heat! I was born at the end of July in the South... my mom STILL talks about how miserable that summer was, ha!

  33. Your bathroom wallpaper looks amazing! I am in the process of redecorating my home and have been contemplating trying out some wallpaper in our half-bath. Do you happen to know the name or code number for the paper you chose? I absolutely love it, but the link to Sherwin Williams just takes me to their general site, not to that specific paper. Hope you are enjoying all of your newborn snuggles now that she's arrived :)
