Where is the time going?! This has been the quickest and the longest month of my life at the same time. We are enjoying every single second with her and it's crazy how much she's already growing and changing. But at the same time, the weird sleep schedule and the nonstop feedings can sometimes make the days feel very long :) Overall though she's a very content baby and I'm just trying to soak up every second of it because I know these are some of the best days of our lives and they are going to go by way too quickly!
A few things I want to always remember about Hadley and this first month...
+ She won't have another doctors appointment until her two month check up, but at two weeks she weighed 8 lbs, 1 oz so I'm assuming she's somewhere around 8 1/2 pounds now. Everyone also comments on how long she is!
+ Girlfriend loves her food (just like me). She gets HANGRY when she's ready to eat (also just like me..) and eats like a champ. She's currently eating about 3 ounces every 3 hours and tolerates her formula really well. The Baby Brezza was one of our best baby purchases we could have made.
+ Nicknames (so far): Hads, Girly, Squirms, Squeaky, Blue girl (because the yellow line on her diaper always turns blue within 2 minutes of changing her haha)
+ Her umbilical cord stump fell off at 10 days old and I weirdly considered keeping it! Don't worry, I didn't ;) She's also been dealing with a bit of baby acne, but that seems to be clearing up. She's still the hiccuping champ - she had them all the time when I was pregnant and continues to do so out here!
+ Last night was our first vomiting experience and while it didn't seem to bother her, it terrified/traumatized me. Phone calls were made to the pediatrician in the middle of the night, but they reassured me that it's all normal and she is feeling fine today thankfully.
+ Prefers to be held at all times, but is starting to warm up to her Mamaroo swing. We find that she likes it better when she's swaddled (still buckled in) and has been napping in it the last two days - actually doing so right this second!
+ Speaking of being swaddled, she loves that too. We use these swaddle blankets during the day that are so soft and use the Miracle Blanket at night. (Which really is a miracle.)
+ She is typically sleeping about 3-4 hours at a time during the night in her Halo Bassinest. Once she wakes up to eat is when it's hit or miss. Either we'll feed, change, swaddle and put her back down and she'll go right back to sleep orrrr she'll be wide awake for hours ;)
+ Her longest stretch of sleep during the night was 5 hours last week! And maybe would have gone even longer if I hadn't woken up in a panic that something happened to her and turned the light on to see if she was breathing. I'm a nutcase.
+ My favorite story: Nick's sister got Hadley a stuffed animal bear that plays lullabies. We love it, she loves it... and Brady also loves it ;) After finding him carrying it around the house in his mouth, we started keeping it in her crib where he couldn't get it. Or so we thought. All of a sudden one night out of the blue, we hear the bear playing lullabies in her nursery. We are like 'that's creepy' so we get up to check it out and as we do, in the pitch darkness, we hear the bear's lullabies moving down the hallway and then down the stairs. We flip on the staircase light and last thing we see is Brady's tail rounding the corner into our living room with the bear in his mouth, ha!
+ She's a big fan of her pacifier. It really does calm her down. She prefers the MAM brand because they're so small and stay in her mouth, but also occasionally will use these from the hospital, too. I've noticed in the past few days she's also found her fingers and likes to suck on them when she's upset.
+ She's still wearing newborn diapers and newborn clothes. I wasn't expecting her to wear this size for too long so we had to run out and pick up a few more outfits (and a lot more diapers). We love using these side snap shirts for at night - they make diaper changes so easy. One thing she does NOT like though is being naked for said diaper and outfit changes!
+ Enjoys being in her car seat thankfully! She does great in it during walks and we've even gone out shopping and to dinner a few of times without a peep from her.
+ Everyone says that she has Nick's eyes and my lips and chin. I have a hard time seeing either of us in her... I need to dig out some of our baby pictures to compare. Her eyes are SUPER blue and the nurse at the hospital said that she thinks they'll stay blue - the only person that has blue eyes in either of our families is Nick's dad.
+ I'm convinced that she is the most smiley baby ever! She smiles all the time. She was even smiling during our 4D ultrasound at 31 weeks - the ultrasound tech said she had never seen such a happy baby on the inside, haha. I don't think they're intentional yet since sometimes I catch her smiling at the wall, ha! She has also started to make faces back at us - especially if you stick your tongue at her, she'll do it back within a few seconds :)
It's been the best month ever with our girl and we couldn't love her more!
