Two Months of Hadley

Last Thursday, Hadley turned two months old!  We were at the beach then so this update is a bit delayed.  I'm also slightly bummed with how the pictures turned out, but it is what it is when you're trying to take them away from home with wrinkled blankets from being packed in a suitcase and a crazy dog and 5 year old nephew attempting to help you, ha!

Here's what Hadley girl has been up to this past month...

+ She'll have her two month well child visit on Friday afternoon, so still have no idea how much she weighs or how long she is.  She's wearing 0-3 months clothes right now (made me SO SAD to pack up all of the newborn stuff), but I've noticed in the last couple of days that even this size is starting to be too short on her!  We've officially moved up to size 1 diapers, too.  Pampers are still my favorite.

+ She has learned to blow little bubbles with her mouth and has 'found' her hands.  She loves to stare at them and always has them in her mouth during bath time.

+ Went on her first week long vacation to Saugatuck, Michigan (recap here).

+ Speaking of bath time, favorite thing ever.  We do a bath every night as part of our bedtime routine and she's seriously so sweet during it.  I think she is going to love the water.  Some of you asked about the sponge thing we have in her bathtub after seeing it on an Instagram story, and it's this one.  Perfect with her being so little still.

+ We had a bunch of not so fun firsts this month: first poop explosion that required me to put her directly in the bathtub because I had no idea what to do with her, first time that we had to aimlessly drive around to get her to stop crying & fall asleep, and first time having to leave a restaurant because she wouldn't stop screaming her head off, ha!  She usually does so well out to eat, but she was not having it one night on vacation ;)

+ She doesn't really enjoy tummy time anymore, mostly because I think she gets frustrated.  She tries to roll over - which she has done from her tummy to back once! - but can't really do it and just ends up wailing!  She does enjoy her playmat - we even packed it up and brought it on vacation because it makes her so happy.

+ Has stopped using these pacifiers and is now all about her Wubbanub.

+ She is still the smiliest, happiest baby ever.  She's starting to coo and make little sounds now which is pretty much the most adorable thing in the world.

+ If we want to keep her occupied for a good twenty minutes, we lay her on our bed so she can stare at our ceiling fan!  We don't even turn it on, but she's obsessed with it.

+ We used our video monitor for the first time this month.  She goes down about 9:30 and one Saturday night, we decided we didn't feel like going to bed early, so we set it up and went downstairs to watch the Olympics.  And then I cried for a good hour!!!  I have no idea what was wrong with me, but I just felt like she was growing up so fast (because really, it is going so fast) and I felt bad that she was up in our room all alone.  Once I finally recovered, this commercial came on and all of the tears began again.  I was a mess that night.

+ She's sleeping really well.  7-8 hours straight most nights, which I will totally take!  She's still sleeping in our room (and I want to keep her in there forever haha).  The naps are still a work in progress, but I can usually get about 30 minutes now when I put her down by herself during the day.

+ Has cradle cap on her eyebrows.  I'm not sure how to get rid of this since I don't want to use anything too close to her eyes - anyone have any ideas?  I plan on asking the pediatrician about it on Friday.

+ Loves to hang out with dad!  I've had a few things going on at night, so they've spent a few evenings together going for walks and running errands to Home Depot, Sherwin Williams, all the man places.

+ She's really starting to take an interest in toys and these are a few of her favorites: Wubbanub // Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes // Black & White Book // Baby Einstein Sea Dreams TV // Playmat // Mamaroo

It's been another amazing month!  She's growing and changing so much everyday, definitely not the very newborn baby we brought home from the hospital anymore.  Sometimes that makes me sad, but I'm also excited for the future together.  Here's to month #3!

  1. She is such a cutie!!! It is hard for a picture of her to turn out bad, just sayin ;) I am glad I clicked the links to the stuff you put in here because that is the exact monitor that we got and I was hoping someone else liked it!! And I registered for some of those Baby Einstein toys and the Wabbanub so yay!

  2. She is the cutest! It's amazing how emotional you get when you're a mom, right? I still have those times where I'll just sob thinking about how fast Logan's growing up. Ridiculous. Try coconut oil for the cradle cap. I wouldn't think that would irritate her eyes! We used it for Logan's cc and it worked like a charm.

  4. She is just too precious! I can't believe our babies are 2 months old already! I'm jealous she is sleeping 7-8 hours at night! The most we've got is about 6. So, Bennett has cradle cap on his eyebrows and head too (so did Camden) and what I've found to work is slathering on aquaphor on the area, let it soak in for an hour or so and then wiping it with either a soft washcloth or wipe. It usually comes right off! We have Bennett's 2 mo appointment today and I am not looking forward to the shots! :*(

  9. I have to say, before I read anything, I thought the pictures were great. I like the wrinkled blanket. It gives it texture actually.

  10. Oh Katie, this is so sweet! She is just precious! I know what you mean about them growing up...it is so hard to say goodbye to some stages. I promise though, as they learn something new, it is totally worth it. Happy two months and may this month be the best yet ;)

  14. I think these photos are beautiful!! Camden gets super frustrated at tummy time too! I basically have to sit in front of him and pull out my most ridiculous mom voice to entertain him. I'm so glad she is sleeping well!! I cried all night the first time Camden slept on his own, you are totally normal!

  19. Hi! She is so cute! I always use coconut oil and a fine tooth comb for cradle cap!If it is really bad in her hair make a paste like mixture of coconut oil and baking soda. Massage it in real good and then comb it out. Then just wash her hair as normal!

  21. So many big milestones this month - for all of you! I give you credit for deciding to leave the restaurant early when she wasn't too happy - I feel like most people these days just let their kids scream and scream with no consequence, lol. Hooray for lots of sleep - I bet that's a relief to you!

  24. We have a similar sponge that we use in Baker's tub and we love it! Keeps her from sliding all over the place. Baker has really dry skin on her face and we've been using Aquaphor. It helps! Yay for sleeping so well! And story...that dog commercial and the Marco Polo one they aired during the olympics made me cry every single time. I have no idea why the Marco Polo one did!
