Busy busy weekend, but such a great one! Filled with beautiful weather, friends, good food and even a nap... doesn't get much better than that! I had high hopes of getting this post up last night, but sleep won out, as it usually does these days.
We kicked things off with a big dinner out with 12 of my Junior League friends and their husbands on Friday night. We went to a restaurant downtown that serves small plates and fancy drinks. It was our second time leaving Haddie and I felt so bad that our leaving timing coincided with her need for a last nap of the day and she was screaming her head off, ha! But she did great the rest of the night and we were able to have a fun parents night out.
Nick and I shared cheddar bay biscuits, spicy roasted broccoli and for our main dishes, I had the trout while he had the steak. All of the food was delicious and the drinks were so fun (and super strong). One of mine even included raw egg whites in it! I was a little leery of that, but it made for a great foamy layer on top and was delicious. And I didn't wake up with salmonella poisoning the next morning so it was a successful evening!
You know who doesn't care that you had a little too much fun and too many drinks the night before? Your baby. She was up at 7am and ready to go for the day! Nick had to head into work so Hadley and I cuddled in bed for a while, ate and played, and then I was able to put her down at 9 for a SUPER long nap. She slept until noon! It was very much needed for me though - I was so lazy on the couch, cuddling with Brady and binge watching Real Housewives of NYC (so behind). And then of course I was super excited to wake her up because I'm crazy and miss her while she's upstairs napping!
Later that evening, we decided to attempt to take her tailgating at our alma mater, Western Michigan University. We timed leaving right after (another) nap and feeding and crossed all of our fingers for a happy baby. I broke out the Solly wrap - don't mind the terrible wrap job going on in these pictures - and I'm happy to report that she had the best time! Everyone loved seeing her and talking to her and she was wide awake and bright eyed the whole time, just taking everything in. We hung out for a couple of hours and then took off when the game started - I wasn't quite ready to brave that yet!
It's always such a relief when we take her somewhere new and she is content just observing the world around her. I'll be the first to admit that I have some anxiety with doing new things with her because I don't know what's in store for us, but the older she gets, the easier it seems to be. Although, we can only handle a couple hours out at a time because the girl has FOMO and won't take a nap when she's out in public (can't miss a thing, reminds me of someone else I know...). Anyone have any tips for that? I was hoping she would pass out in the wrap, but no such luck.
Sunday was another busy day with a Junior League event. We were helping out with our local Children's Hospital 5k Run through downtown, so we met up at one of the girls city apartments for brunch beforehand. Quiches, donuts, mimosas, bloody Mary's... great way to spend a Sunday morning! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from the day because my phone's camera storage is out. of. control. right now because I take approximately 95 pictures of Hadley every day. Organizing those are on my must do asap list.
And speaking of Hadley... girlfriend turned 3 months old yesterday! I don't know how that's possible because I feel like we just got home from the hospital, but we are loving every day with her. Update coming this week! Happy Monday!
