Favorite Toners

I was recently wandering through Target (which I basically do on any every other day basis) when I finally found the Pixi Glow Tonic Toner I've been looking for for what feels like forever.  I've heard rave reviews about it from all of my favorite beauty bloggers, but my store was always out of stock and I've been #toolazy to order it online.  Plus it contains 5% glycolic acid which is amazing for the skin, but not pregnancy friendly.  So you can imagine my excitement when I was finally able to get my hands on it and give it a try!  After using it for a few weeks now, I'm happy to report that it's awesome and I highly recommend it.

I consider toner a must have in my beauty regimen.  I apply a little bit on a cotton ball and use it right after I wash my face and before my lotions & potions (see how I layer my products here).  It gets the rest of the leftover makeup off of your face and just helps it feel cleaner.  I tend to have dry skin so I try to stay away from toners that contain alcohol in them as they will just dry things out even more.  Here are my top four favorite toners, in no particular order!

ONE | Arcona Triad Toner Pads: Well why not start with my favorite anyway?!  I love these toner pads.  My skin always feels so super soft and smooth and looks brighter after using them.  I swear it helps with the redness that I deal with in my skin.  The cranberry scent is strong, but it's fresh and I enjoy it.  The pads always seem to be included in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale which is when I like to stock up and I find that they're so saturated that I use one side of the pad at night and the other side in the morning which also saves money!

TWO | Pixi Glow Tonic Toner: The toner that inspired this post!  As mentioned above, I love it specifically for the glycolic acid which exfoliates the skin and promotes a toned, smooth complexion. It's also alcohol free, hypoallergenic and paraben free - all great for the skin.  Not crazy about the scent, but it's nothing that will make me stop using it.

THREE | Mario Badescu Aloe Vera Toner: I have been using this for forever and will always have a bottle on hand, especially in the winter.  It's so gentle on the skin and soothing.  The aloe vera is said to reduce irritation and redness which is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin (me).  There is really no scent at all and you can't beat Mario Badescu prices.

FOUR | Kiehls Ultra Facial Toner: This one is probably my least favorite of the bunch.  I do like it, but it's nothing special - actually the reason I tried it is that it's one of the few toners that comes in a small travel size and I bought it for our Colorado trip.  As with all Kiehls products, it's made with quality ingredients and I find that it really helps keep my skin moisturized.  This one also has no scent.

What's your favorite toner?

  7. I got a sample of the pixi glow tonic when it came out and I really liked it but clearly I cant use it right now but I might buy a full size after baby. The aloe vera one sounds perfect in the winter time! I am using Caudalie Grape Water Spray as toner right now and enjoying it. Decent ingredients that are safe for pregnancy.

  9. Oh, this post is so imformative! I've used Mario Banescu products before and liked them, and I really like aloe vera, so I'll have to try the toner. I saw a 'recipe' on pintrest for a DIY Green Tea toner which I've been meaning to try too!

  10. I've never been much into toners and when I have used them, I use witch hazel. I really want to try the Pixi one now though and add it to my regimen.

  11. Sounds like I need to find that Pixi toner for myself! I've stayed loyal to the La Roche Posay clarifying solution that's part of the acne kit, but I think I might have to find something more gentle for the winter months.

  12. I feel the same way about Kiehl's! You just reminded me that I need to get cleaning pads though. I used to love the Clinque toner. I developed an intolerance to it, but it always left me feeling like it actually worked!
