Friday Confessions

This is how I feel about this week, too... TGIF.

It's been a long one over here!  I've had a cold that just won't quit so between that keeping me up at night and middle of the night feedings, I am beat.  Looking forward to the weekend where we won't get any rest because it's jammed pack full of activities, haha!  But all good stuff - dinner out tonight with friends, taking Haddie to her first college football tailgate on Saturday, and I have a Junior League event on Sunday!  I'm also hoping to squeeze in some TV time... anyone watch any of the new fall premieres this week?  I have heard great things about This Is Us - the previews remind me so much of Parenthood!

I figured the best way to kick this Friday was with a few confessions since it's been a while...

I confess that Brady has been picking at his paws since we got back from vacation (a month ago) and I just kind of ignored it.  Not in a mean way, I just figured it was normal dog behavior or something.  That was until I took him to the groomer this week and she said they looked really bad and that I should take him to the vet to get them checked out... cue me feeling like a terrible person.  I took him in literally the next day and the poor pup has allergies.  He's on pills now for them and fingers crossed that they work!

I confess that I just got these flats in the nude leather and now I want to buy all of the colors.  They are SO comfortable and really well made.  I'm leaning towards the black leather next (because I'm boring and love neutrals).

I confess that we had out of town friends over for dinner on Wednesday night... and I got a take and bake pizza.  Ugh, so lame.  I had all of these visions of grilling and making risotto (haha) and roasted veggies which I would have been all over 3 months prior to this, but cooking like that on a Wednesday night just isn't working out with a baby right now!  Thankfully our friends didn't seem to mind and it was a nice night.

I confess that I am just not on the fall bandwagon yet.  I haven't had anything pumpkin, I'm still wearing my shorts (it was 85 degrees here yesterday!), and I haven't watched a single football game.  Long live summer.

I confess that while I packed away all of my maternity clothes, I left my maternity tank tops and pajama pants in my closet.  The tanks are so long which I love and the pants are SO COMFY how could I not wear them (every day)?!?

I confess that I'm on the hunt for a high chair... and my #1 criteria is that it fits in with my decor.  Ha! I'm leaning towards the 4Moms one or the Boon Flair.  Anyone have recommendations either way?

Have a great weekend!

  1. Aw I hope Brady's allergies clear up. I came home the other day to Audrey having bumps all over her back. I gave her some Benedryl and it's almost all cleared up but still a few bumps, so I have been giving her one Benedryl a day. I contemplated taking her to the vet but didn't since it's getting better and allergies (among all of the other health problems) are extremely common in English Bulldogs and some have to be on allergy medicine year round.

It sounds like everyone has busy weekends this weekend including us. Hope it's a great one!

  3. I'm sorry to hear about Brady, but dogs are tricky and you never know-like kids:)

This is Us is a great show. I confess I haven't seen a majority of Parenthood and I'm working on correcting that, but I really enjoyed This is Us.

Also, as a very long time veteran babysitter(like from when I was 10-yikes) I am not a huge fan of the high chairs these days. I do like the 4 moms, however, I'm really seemed to start to like the Stokke infant seat to toddler to kid chair. It is pricey, so finding it on Craigslist or just splurging and ordering it on amazon or with a sale may make it a little cheaper. Or even the ikea high chair?

    Have a good weekend!

  4. I hope your weekend is tons of fun! It sounds like you had a rough week, so you deserve a break ☺

I don't have kids, but I've read great things about Ikea's Antilop high chair... it's supposedly easy to clean, design neutral, and is inexpensive.

  6. I enjoyed This is Us and hope it can stay a season, or more.

Its not fall here either. STL still has nasty hot, blech!

  7. Oliver has allergies too :( I feel so bad for pups when they get them! I've heard great things about both high chairs and totally don't blame you for wanting one that goes with decor!

  8. Awww... poor Brady! He looks pooped too! I'm not on the fall bandwagon yet either. It's still so warm in Michigan! Hope you have an awesome weekend - and get some rest!

  10. Feel better soon! I haven't embraced fall yet either.... its just too hot right now. And I don't even like PSL. I did make once batch of pumpkin muffins, but thats about it. I'm waiting for October. But football I can get on board with! ~Hannah (www.HannahAtHomeBlog.com)

  12. Ok so I tried on those flats in the store (the floor sample was too small but still) and the footbed seemed super squishy!! I may have to get some if you recommend them. Comfy flats are sometimes hard to come by! Hope you have a great weekend :)

  13. Aw I hope you feel better! I can't get on board with the PSL but I love me some pumpkin desserts.. haha. Did you guys have Brady tested for allergies? Ruby is doing the same thing but I was thinking it might be a gluten allergy.

  14. They have the cutest high chairs out now - not those plastic ugly things but wood, beautiful pieces. You'll find one.
Sydney did the same thing about the same age as Brady - developed allergies & would lick till her hair would be gone on her paws. We'd have to spray them with stuff to take the itchy away & then we'd put those doggie boots on her so she couldnt lick them. It was horrible. Poor babies.

  15. Those are the best flats ever and I grab them whenever I can! Nordstrom Rack almost always has them in stock, too in neutrals! Yes to all of the maternity tanks... sometimes I still buy them at Target because I love how loose and long they are (don't tell!) Have you checked out the Keekaroo chair that grows with them? It's pricey, but more of a chair than a high chair that lasts and blends in!

  16. Sending lots of *hugs* to feel better soon and for Brady-Boy too and his paws. I'm sure Haddie will love her first tailgate, can't wait to see all the adorableness! You already know I'm team summer too because to me fall means winter is coming! Enjoy all the warmth while you can. Happy Friday gurlie <3

  18. Oh man, that is a long week and the weekend sounds super fun but busy! I'm glad y'all were able to get Brady on some meds - who would've thought it was allergies? lol Hope y'all have a great weekend!

  19. Aww poor pup. I hope his allergies stop bothering him soon! I'm not ready to fully embrace the fall yet either. It's still been so warm out and summer is my favorite time of year.

  20. It is too hot down here to even think about fall clothes right now, but I did get a PSL already. Those nude flats look fabulous! I will keep those in mind when I go looking. I have been getting Cole Haan lately because they are the only ones that I find comfy. My dog chews on his paws all the time too. It has gotten worse over the last few months compared to before so I think he probably needs to get on meds also. High maintenance dogs ;) I hope that you get to feeling better this weekend!

  21. Poor Brady boy! I'm sure the medicine will clear it up in no time. So many shows to watch this week - I'm still catching up with the DVR. Have a great weekend!

  22. I don't own this high chair, but I saw it on Sequins & stripes blog, and then recently in person at a store, and it's BEAUTIFUL! It's an OXO highchair, and for baby number 2 I'm scooping it up!

  23. Those flats are so cute, must resist buying all of them!! Oh no poor Brady, hope the meds work for his allergy!!

  24. My dog has allergies too. So sad, the poor guys!

My DVR is chock full of the new fall shows but I haven't had a chance to watch any of them yet except for 'Kevin Can Wait' which I liked. I have 'This is Us' on there too and have heard all good things about it.

  25. It may not fit with your decor, but we got the Peg Perego Siest high chair and love it - it folds up very nicely for storing too (since we haven't actually used it with a baby yet, haha)!

  26. I'm right there with you on not being into fall yet! It's just too dang hot. We are supposed to have a "cold front" (so like 70, eye roll) next week so maybe that will get me in the mood! I can not tell you the number of people we have had over for dinner and made take and bake pizza for...at least 4 groups I can think of off the top of my head, HA. And I usually love to cook for people too! We'll get there again someday :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Aww I hope Brady's ok! My pup gets bad allergies too (usually more in the spring though). Usually a shot and/or some pills help clear them up! I'm also with you on fall... it's still in the 90s here in FL!

  28. Nothing wrong with an easy dinner. My parents like to buy a pre-made cheese pizza from WalMart's deli and add their own toppings. I hope Brady feels better very soon.

  29. Hope you had a great weekend! And I'm with you - the closet I've gotten to fall is wearing booties with shorts and a long cardigan in the vet's office... Oh - and those flats = so cute!

  30. High chair: with my first two I went one route, and the whole time I wished I'd gone this route and now that I have I'm obsessed. OBSESSED with this highchair. I got it in silver/gray to match my kitchen table chairs. The best. And they have tons of colors. https://www.stokke.com/USA/en-us/highchairs/tripp-trapp/1444.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwjqO_BRDribyJpc_mzHgSJABdnsFW72UTBCbfxrcPRwUquq6eXx1CFqGF6A4QUol4TntvvxoC-T_w_wcB

  31. Maybe it's a new baby but I haven't put the first fall decoration out and normally my house would have been decorated a month ago!

  32. lol good luck with the highchair! i really like the look of the ikea ones. and nothing wrong with neutrals, those flats are super cute!

  33. I'm not on the fall bandwagon yet either!! It was HOT in Michigan, Ohio and China... so I'm still recovering from that nonsense. Maybe soon? lol. Poor Brady B. It happens though. Not a bad dog mom. Just a real one. ;)

  34. So sorry that you weren't feeling well. How are Brady's paws now? Those flats are adorable! xx, I'm Fixin' To
