A Little Bit Of Everything

Thanks so much to everyone that participated in my Roll Call post on Tuesday! It was so fun to hear from so many of you and has definitely given me new blogging inspiration. More lifestyle/motherhood and shopping posts coming right up! This week went so fast. I had all these grand plans for blogging and they just kind of got away from me. I'm looking forward to a weekend at home with nothing to do - just catching up on a few things and hanging out with my little family! And maybe sneaking in a couple of the 10 best Halloween movies to watch on Netflix. But for today's post, a little bit of everything...

In case you've been living under a rock... Shopbop is having a sale! Most of their stuff is a little over my price range, but there is a lot of goodness around the $50-100 mark and it doesn't hurt quite as much when you're taking 25% off. This dress that I wore to a wedding last weekend and my new favorite flats are both included and the initial necklace I've been drooling over is on its way to me. If I could really splurge, I would get this cashmere wrap scarf in gray. GAH. It's gorgeous. (Use code MAINEVENT16 at checkout.)

I have the best recipe for you (the picture doesn't do it justice). This chicken and mushroom dish is to die for. Nick's mom made it for us as our first meal home with Hadley and it was the most delicious thing ever after hospital food. I finally decided to make it myself this past weekend and then proceeded to eat it for 4 days straight. The prep time took me a little longer than the recipe states, but worth it to do on a Sunday!

Speaking of Hadley... girlfriend slept through the ENTIRE night for the first time this week! She fell asleep about 8:45pm and didn't wake up until 4:30am - which is usually close to her middle of the night feeding time - so I laid there waiting for her to start crying, but she was just chatting to herself and then fell back asleep all on her own! And then proceeded to sleep until 7:50am! I couldn't believe it, it was like the most amazing thing ever.  We have been really struggling with sleep the past couple of weeks (can the 4 month sleep regression happen early?), so a full nights rest was seriously needed.
I need a new mascara. Suggestions? I've long been a fan of They're Real, but it's just not doing it for me right now. Drugstore or more expensive, I don't care - just something that works! Happy Friday, friends!

  1. You are doing a fabulous job of blogging and taking care of Haddie! Don't stress ☺ Re: mascara, I've been using one of the Nyx Doll Eye mascaras, and I really like it. Volume plus length. I always buy from Ulta too, because coups are awesome (duh) and they accept returns for up to thirty days after purchasing even if you've used something. Great for when things don't work out!

  2. Yay for Haddie sleeping through the night! I really can't wait for a weekend where we have nothing to do but I don't see that coming anytime soon. I placed a huuuge Amazon order for mainly baby stuff. Like 24 things (including some dog stuff we needed) are supposed to arrive today. So I'm pretty sure our weekend is going to be full of opening up the boxes, putting baby stuff together, and organizing it in addition to the usual errands and cleaning. 4 big boxes showed up at our door yesterday (more baby stuff) and Jesse almost had a cow. I think he might faint when he comes home today to all of the other stuff ha!

  6. YAY HADDIE! I'm so happy for you guys!! Longer stretches of sleep really are a game changer. We had a mushroom ravioli this week from HelloFresh and Nathan (the sworn mushroom hater) gobbled it up and thought it was delicious. Little does he know I will be making ALL the mushroom dishes now, HA! Can't wait to try this one you linked. I swear by the Sephora brand mascara. It's not super expensive and it really is the best one I've found. Have a great weekend!!

  8. Maybelline Volume Express The Colossal is the BEST mascara ever!!! In a yellow tube at Walgreens, Target, Walmart etc. So much better than all the expensive brands I've tried! P.s. I'd love a post or an email of Haddie's favorite clothing shops! I am lost on where to even start looking for baby girl's clothes haha

  12. YAY for Haddie sleeping through the night! That chicken dish looks amazing, and you've never steered me wrong with a new recipe. As for mascara, I'm a huge fan of They're Real too, but my other fav is Maybelline's Falsies in the purple tube. I keep trying others and always go back to that one <3

Best mascara of all time - Too Faced "Better Than Sex" ...and it's cruelty free ;)

  14. I just love that picture of Haddie - so sweet! I use Benefit's primer mascara (maybe a They're Real product? But it's a tinted primer) then Stila's Huge on top. Soooo, two expensive ($20ish) mascaras on top of one another haha. Whoops!

  17. You look fabulous! Haddie is such a cutie! Yay for sleeping through a night!!! I am trying to soak up sleep and enjoy it as much as I can these days, but it is getting tough and I wake up a lot. For mascara, the best drugstore one I have used is the Covergirl Plumpify. I really like Estee Lauder's Sumptuous, probably an all time favorite, even over They're Real. Everyone is raving about Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. Like literally everyone. I haven't tried it myself yet but I don't know a single person who had something bad to say about it so I want to try it soon.

  22. I have been having the worst time finding a good mascara.. NONE of the high end brands that I have tried work for me including the better than sex mascara or dior show. The one that I've been using is Younique Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes and liking it so far. I hate that it's a 2 step process but the result is full/long lashes.

  24. Yay for sleep! You look gorgeous in that first photo with Nick - love the whole look! I can't wait to try that recipe if you say it's that good, it sure looks delicious. CoverGirl Lash Blast (Clump Crusher and the Original in the orange tube) are still my ride-or-die mascaras. Have a fantastic weekend!

  32. You look fabulous in that dress!! So soon after the baby too. Maybe a post about what you did?
For mascara I swear by the L'Oreal Miss Manga ones. They have one for length and one for volume but they're both great.
Haddie is a cutie!! So glad to hear babies might sleep through the night at 4 months. Maybe mine will do it too
