Girlfriend is officially four months as of yesterday and all over the place, as evidenced by these pictures! I took about 50 in total and I swear she's on her side/all the way rolled over in 45 of them. There's just no keeping her on her back anymore! Tummy time is where it's at ;) Here are a few other four month updates...
Stats: We have her four month well child visit next Friday, so not sure. We have tried the whole stand on the scale with her and then subtract our weight, and we estimate that she's around 13.5 pounds. But we will see next week! She's still super long and always grows length-wise out of her clothes first.
Eating: Still doing pretty good, thank the Lord! She had a super hungry phase where she was draining bottles all day, followed by a few days where she didn't want to eat much which of course made me paranoid after all of the issues we had last month. But she's pretty consistently eating 3-4 ounces every 3 hours during the day, 5-6 ounces before bed and then an occasional middle of the night feed.
Sleep: Hadley girl slept through the night for the first time this month! She went down at 8pm and slept until 7:15am! It was the most amazing thing in the world. And then we hit a major sleep regression. The 4 month one early? I'm not sure - but the rolling over thing is KILLING us! She knows how to roll onto her stomach, but she can't get back to her back which makes her mad. So we would have to completely rock her to sleep - no putting down while drowsy because she'd just flip right over - and that was getting exhausting/frustrating. We decided to get a Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit and that has totally solved the problem. She looks ridiculous, but it works!
She has her last bottle of the day at 7:45pm and then bed right after. I almost always feed her to sleep at night which I know is a bad habit, but I can't seem to stop her from passing out! She'll usually sleep until 5 or 6am (and lately doesn't want to go back to sleep for an hour...), although sometimes if she's super hungry she'll be up at 2am. She will then go back down till 8:30am. She wakes up at 8:30am on.the.dot. Every day. I'll take it!
Likes: Smiling! Everyone always tells us that she's such a happy baby, although she's super stingy with her laughs. She loves screeching. If she's bored/displeased now, instead of crying she screeches, ha! Obsessed with her crib mobile, O-ball, Aden and Anais 'lovie', her Wubbanub, and this Fisher Price piano. And still her PBK play mat. I think it's her favorite thing in the world. She's also started noticing Brady and loves to grab his fur. I think there are a lot of 'be gentle' reminders in our future! Someone got us one of these Magnificent Baby sleepers at my baby shower and she finally fit into it this month - well, we are obsessed. The magnets are awesome, especially in the middle of the night.
Dislikes: Not too much. Being on her stomach at night ;) Sitting in a dirty diaper, which I swear happens every single time we go to Target - mom just wants to walk around and buy all the things, but we always end up booking it out of there before she freaks/ruins her outfit!
Milestones: Rolling over! We survived Nick's first week long business trip. It was more of surviving rather than thriving week, but we did it. She visited Chicago for the first time, the same night the Cubs punched their ticket to the World Series for the first time in 71 years (one of these days I'll get a post up about our day trip)! And Nick and I spent our first night away for a friends wedding. It was sad to leave, but great to have time just the two of us and not have any responsibilities for a few hours.
Postpartum: I wrote an entire post about this (here), but every week is just getting better and better. Life is feeling more like normal and I'm loving the routine we're settling into. This past month, Hadley has been so much more interactive and I feel like she's my little buddy now, rather than this crying, helpless baby that I'm just here to take care of (as terrible as that sounds). I can't even tell you how amazing it is to feel like myself again... and to fit into my jeans again, haha!
It was a great month and it's so fun to think it's only going to keep getting better! Cheers to month #5!
