Hadley: Five Months

So, our photo shoots are getting harder and harder with each passing month as evidenced by these pictures! Our five month shoot went a little something like this: no, don't roll over - stop grabbing your blanket - take your hands out of your mouth for two seconds - okay I guess you can roll over - no crying - let's try up on the chair - aaaand I think we're done... ha! They crack me up just looking at them. Girlfriend is constantly moving and I love it. I think the pictures completely convey where she's at in her little life right now! Here are some other things to remember from this month... (ps. this is the softest, comfiest baby blanket EVER)

Stats: I never updated her weight/height after her 4 month check up, but she was 12 pounds, 12 ounces (16%) and 26.2 inches (97%). She's keeping right on her growth chart track. Long and lean girl.

Eating: Nothing out of the ordinary to report this month, thankfully! All is going well. She does have some days where I can tell that her teeth are bothering her and she'll chew on the nipple more and be less interested in eating, but from what I hear regarding teething, that's pretty normal.

Sleeping: Oh Lord, this deserves its own post. We had a rough month with sleep, but I think (and I hesitate to say this in fear of jinxing things) that we're coming out of the other side. The 4 month sleep regression was a very real thing. Lots of screaming, lots of car naps, lots of night wake ups, it sucked. But I worked hard on getting her to take naps and to establish a good bedtime routine, and I think it's paying off. She's actually a tummy sleeper now. She still sleeps in our room in her bassinet... which I said she would do until 12 weeks, but we're going on like 22 now, oops. I just love sleeping next to her and don't want to move her!

But really, I'm going to write an entire post about our sleep problems and how I somewhat fixed them - fellow moms, let me know if you have any questions you'd be interested in hearing about. Not that I'm an expert like at all haha, but I'm willing to share my experience.

Likes: Everything. She's literally the happiest baby. She love love loves her exersaucer, this glow worm, sleeping in her carseat, babbling away, grabbing my hair, these teething beads, her wubbanub, bathtime (loves kicking and splashing in the water!) and honestly just putting anything in her mouth, ha! Oh and now when she sees Brady, Nick or I, her entire face lights up. That's my favorite.

Dislikes: Truly not much. She's started to understand when she's about to be fed and as I'm carrying her and her bottle, she starts to whine and reach towards it. Sometimes cranky when she wakes up from a short nap. But otherwise, almost always cheerful! (How did we get so lucky?!)

Milestones: Rolling from her tummy to her back! This took her a LONG time to figure out - and was a big source of our sleep problems - but she can do it no problem now. She is starting to finally laugh a lot more and is constantly 'talking'. She can usually put her pacifier back in her mouth when she's in her bassinet. And she can almost sit up (with help), which is insane to me! Slow down, girl!

Postpartum: Keeps getting better and better, especially now that we're getting more regular sleep. I swear sleep makes a huge difference in how I feel. It's time to get rid of that pregnancy (and Thanksgiving) weight though, so we joined a gym over the weekend. They have daycare which will be nice for her to have some interaction with people other than me, and let's be honest- it's also nice for me to have just an hour to myself a couple times a week. And this is crazy, but I already feel like she's getting so big and isn't my tiny baby anymore and a couple times over the last few weeks I already found myself thinking about baby #2. Which definitely isn't happening for a while (!!!), but I must be feeling better to even be thinking about going down that newborn road again, ha! They really just change so quickly and I'm trying to enjoy and soak up every single minute because holy crap does it go fast.

Can't even believe next month she will be 6 months - and on Christmas Day at that!

  1. I love her facial expressions!!! Hadley is just the cutest! I'm really curious to see how much Rory is going to weigh when she is born since she has been measuring big since like 20 weeks. At my ultrasound at 32 weeks and 2 days, she was already weighing 6 lbs 1 oz and I have my final ultrasound in 6 days when I'll be 36 weeks and 3 days. I will seriously die if they tell me she is 9 lbs by then. For some reason I have a feeling they're going to say somewhere between 8 1/2- 9 lbs just like I had a feeling at my last ultrasound they were going to say she was 6 lbs already. She is most definitely running out of room in there.

  2. Look at her beautiful eyes!! I'm sorry to hear that she had a rough sleeping month but sounds like you guys are back to normal and so happy that she's such a happy baby - no doubt just like her mommy! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. These pictures are adorable! The teething struggle is real girl. Brynn wants to chew on everything and always has her hand in her mouth...and the drool is a nightmare! My cousin got Brynn a Glow worm and she loves it too...it's nice to see them with toys from when we were kids. Hadley is so adorable :)

  5. OMG she is like a whole different baby with those facial expressions! These babies are growing up way too fast for my liking!! So glad you got the sleep thing at least some what figured out. I'd love to hear how you got her on a consistent nap schedule. Cam STRUGGLES in that area and I find myself just putting him in the car and driving him around to make him fall asleep which is probably really bad somehow, lol. Good luck with the daycare at the gym! I make it about oh, 20 mins tops before they come and get me because he is screaming his head off HA!

  7. Happy 5 months Haddie girl!! I still need to take Bennett's 5 month photo! I'm a few days behind #badmom. I'm glad she is starting to sleep better for you! I will say that I had to sleep in the same room as Bennett over the holiday weekend and I sleep a lot better with him in his own room. He is a noisy sleeper and I'm a light sleeper, so I'd wake up with every little sound he made. But of course, that is all personal preference! 4 - 8 months is my favorite baby stage!! They are so happy, sleeping relatively well, not mobile yet...it's the best!!

  10. Could she be anymore adorable?! Those eyes!! And lol at how difficult it is to get her to sit still for pictures, our 1 month photos for Serena last week were a total fail. She would not stop screaming, but I'm choosing to think of them as darling instead haha.

So glad you were able to establish a better sleep routine after a rough 4th month. Sending happy thoughts that she stays a happy sleeper <3

  20. She is such a cutie!!!! I am sure your outtake pictures are going to be more and more fun as she gets older and has less interest is just laying there for mommy! Sorry to hear about the sleeping problems. Share all the wisdom you gained because I will be a few months behind you! A few of my friends who have 1 year olds say that they forget how bad the last month of pregnancy was, how rough recovery was and those sleepless nights the first few weeks pretty quickly because they are all wanting another already.

  21. Oh my gosh look at those wide eyes-she is beautiful! I am totally with you on thinking about new babies..mine is 7 months, still a terrible sleeper, and yet every time I see a pregnant woman I get SO jealous ;-) Then a bad nights sleep brings be back to reality real fast haha!

  22. She is so expressive! Love her! And I so hope the gym daycare works out for you. I've always been so sad that my kids hate it and never let me get a workout in. Also, I always start thinking about another baby right around the year mark, sometimes sooner. Give me all the babies! But I do love the current age gap we have which is 2.75 years.

  23. Amen to the sleep factor! It sure does make a world of a difference with how you feel postpartum! I know it's probably been harder for me this time around because since I have a toddler to take care of, I can't sleep in or take advantage of naps. The struggle is real! H is just adorable! Those big blue eyes!

  24. Such cute pictures of lil miss!!! It's crazy how fast they change and grow- you know I feel you on the baby #2 thoughts, lol! Jared LOVES that when he comes home T gets so excited to see him now, I know it makes his whole day :)

  25. oh my gosh the photos are hilarious! i totally think i will have a baby sleeping in my room (or me in their room) for ages as well, no shame. they're just so tiny! sorry about the sleep, hope it is all good and sorted now. congrats on joining the gym and getting some time to yourself, that's awesome. and lol @ baby 2. slow down and wait for me to have baby 1, because i want to be pregnant the same time as other people. that's not weird, right? lol

  26. OMG. These are my favorite pictures ever. I hope you frame ALL of them. I've heard that a good baby (like sweet H) will lure you into thinking that you can totally have #2... don't succumb! It's a trap! I mean... just look at those eyes. Of course it's a trap!
